Days of Our Lives (1965)
The Daytime Emmys are always full of surprises, and the nominees for the 40th annual event are no exception. In a twist worthy of a soap opera, there were no snubs at all in the race for Best Drama Series, where all five programs eligible for consideration -- "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Days of Our Lives," "General Hospital," "One Life to Live," and "The Young and the Restless" -- made the cut. But there were plenty of surprises in the other drama races. Three of last year's acting winners were among the pre-nominees for this year's event, and while two are back to defend their titles -- Best Actress nominee Heather Tom ("B&B") and Best Younger Actor nominee Chandler Massey ("Days") -- one failed to make the cut: Nancy Lee Grahn ("Gh"), who won Supporting Actress last year and has earned eight career nominations. Best Supporting Actor frontrunner James Re.
