Image
Starz announced today, out of Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con, that the eighth and final season of the time-traveling, epic romance Outlander will premiere in early 2026.

The Blood of My Blood opening titles are as enchanting as Outlander's Skye Boat Song
Image
The opening titles of prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood are here for our viewing pleasure ahead of the release of the drama Friday, Aug. 8, 2025 on Starz! The network shared the enchanting song, along with visually appealing shots that definitely transport us right into the worlds of the Highlands and World War I England, the two time periods the show is set in.

There's definitely a sort of mythical and dreamy feel to the opening titles that make it just as iconic as Outlander's adaptation of 19th century tune, The Skye Boat Song. Now once you hear it, you immediately think of the historical drama and are transported there. I think the same is going to happen with fans for Blood of My Blood as well going forward. Be sure to check out the video below!

As you can see above, showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts...

Bear McCreary and Raya Yarbrough tease their musical involvement in Outlander season 8 and beyond (Interview)
Image
Onscreen and in the fictional world of Outlander, there's absolutely no argument who's the ultimate Otp and power couple. Of course that would be our beloved Jamie and Claire Fraser. Though in real life those responsible for the music, singing, and bringing the historical drama to life in that way are the musical power couple of the series. And that's husband and wife duo, composer Bear McCreary and singer Raya Yarbrough!

Earlier this summer at San Diego Comic-Con, Show Snob had the opportunity to speak with them both as McCreary was there to promote his new album, graphic novel, and concert experience, The Singularity. And you can bet that his lovely wife Yarbrough is one of the many people involved in the project.

The two have worked on endless projects together, including Outlander. McCreary manages to give us all the feels - whether it's a romantic, emotional, or even a...

Some Major Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Details Have Been Revealed By An Unlikely Source
Image
This article contains (likely) spoilers for "The Rings of Power" season 2.

Soundtracks are a big part of what brings a story to life — nowhere more than in Middle-earth. Howard Shore's award-winning score for Peter Jackson's trilogy is an iconic part of the "Lord of the Rings" experience. Bear McCreary's musical compositions for Amazon Studios' "The Rings of Power" series, while newer, are already a fantasy staple, as well. They're also a body of work that is about to get a lot bigger when season 2 arrives on August 29, 2024.

In preparation for the new music, the streaming studio released the 25 names of the songs that will be on the digital track list, which will be released for fans' listening pleasure on August 23, six days before the season premieres. With so many titles, it's no surprise that there are also some light spoilers in the mix. This isn't anything new.

Meshuggah’s Jens Kidman Featured on Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Soundtrack: Exclusive Clip and Q&a
Image
Ever since Led Zeppelin sang about the darkest depths of Mordor in their song “Ramble On,” The Lord of the Rings has had a long history of appearing in music.

From the progressive rock of Bo Hansson, to the black metal of Summoning and dungeon synth of Hole Dweller, Lotr has been particularly inspiring in the realm of heavy metal and its adjacent genres.

The escapism of Middle Earth and epic metal goes both ways, as composer Bear McCreary and Meshuggah singer Jens Kidman discovered while scoring a scene from the upcoming second season of the Amazon series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

In an exclusive behind the scenes featurette (watch below), McCreary elaborated on the collaboration, which came about when he was tasked with composing the music and theme for the massive hill-troll Damrod featured in the new season.

“Damrod is a troll that makes a mighty entrance,...

Image
From the mosh pit of TV cancellations, the animated cult hit Metalocalypse rises up and delivers Army of the Doomstar. And without missing a beat, the story of the world’s most successful death metal band Dethklok picks up right where it left off. This new feature-length film serves as a direct continuation of 2013’s sublime and singular metal-opera The Doomstar Requiem. Those hanging plot threads are now finally answered in this climactic music odyssey brimful with hellfire and end of world stakes.

In the universe of Metalocalypse, the band Dethklok reigns supreme as metal lords whose global success has a direct effect on both society and the economy. The government keeps a watchful eye on the band as well as any trends and incidents influenced by their actions. Despite their godlike power, the five members of Dethklok — lead singer Nathan Explosion (Brendon Small), bassist William Murderface (Tommy Blacha), lead...

Cloverfield (2008)
How ‘Battlestar Galactica,’ ‘Outlander’ composer Bear McCreary is raising the bar on music for TV
Cloverfield (2008)
If you’ve watched TV in the past 10 years, chances are you know Bear McCreary’s music. He’s become one of the most (if not the most) sought-after and prolific composers in television, ever since he came into his own writing the boundary-pushing score for the reimagined Battlestar Galactica series. He counts The Walking Dead, Outlander, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. among his credits. And this March theater-goers got to experience his music with a big screen presentation; he composed the chilling and thrilling score for J.J. Abrams’ 10 Cloverfield Lane. Today McCreary is juggling so many projects that he can’t count all his current TV shows and movies and video games — “I can’t even tell. I honestly don’t even know,” how many projects he’s in the midst of, he said during an interview at Cafe Laurent in Culver City, CA. The...
