The sci-fi genre has long made a name for itself with its grandiose action sequences, which at times has sacrificed the story development. "This didn't have to happen. You can stop it..." Gravitas Ventures has released an official trailer for an indie sci-fi post apocalyptic thriller titled Diverge, which has played at a bunch of sci-fi/genre film festivals all over the world the last two years. The film follows a lonely survivor of a deadly virus who is given the chance to reclaim his lost life by stopping the man responsible for the disease. Described as "equal parts science fiction and morality tale, Diverge tells the story of how the choices of one can have dire consequences for all." It's apparently much more philosophical and poetic than expected. Starring Ivan Sandomire, Jamie Jackson, Andrew Sensing, with a hypnotic new score by the Blair Brothers. Watch the trailer below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for James Morrison's Diverge, direct from YouTube: In the aftermath of a mysterious pandemic that’s turned big cities into wastelands,...

One of the small thrillers which has been burning up the genre festivals this past year is James Morrison's feature film debut Diverge.
This Pa thriller unfolds in the aftermath of a virus which has spread across the globe and turned cities into wastelands. A survivor named Chris (Ivan Sandomire) is searching for a cure in an effort to save his wife but when he's captured by a mysterious stranger, he's forced with making a difficult decision: save his wife or save all of humanity.
The concept sounds fairly straight forward but it appears there's much more going on here than either the synopsis or the trailer suggests.

Director: Jeremiah Jones Writer: Jeremiah Jones Starring: Christopher Denham, Connor Hill, Michael Mosley, Marianna Palka, Ivan Sandomire To be perfectly honest, I might have to watch Restive a few more times before I can adequately comprehend what the heck is going on. But here I am, shortly after my first viewing of the film, attempting to hobble together a coherent review about a film that was so beautifully incoherent to me. I will start with the puzzle pieces that I do understand. Jeva (Marianna Palka) is stuck in a menacingly terrifying relationship with Lott (Christopher Denham). Together, they have a young son, Hopper (Connor Hill)...and daughter too? Lott has reason to think Jeva has betrayed him. Soon, Jeva and Hopper find themselves running through the woods being chased by two of Lott's hoodlum buddies, Braker (Michael Mosley) and Roo (Ivan Sandomire). Everything else is either too much of a...
