Yesterday marked the premiere of the much-anticipated revival of the beloved, zany animated series on the Disney Channel, and now, the first ten episodes are available to stream on Disney+. To celebrate the return of the step-brothers and their unbelievable schemes, Funko is debuting a handful of new Pop! figures to accompany fans through 104 more days of summer vacation. Collider can offer an exclusive look at the five new items hitting store shelves, including Phineas, Ferb, and their iconic pet/secret agent, Perry the Platypus. Most TV revivals are bad. They exist solely for the cynical purpose of exploiting a familiar title, not because there are new stories worth telling in a particular world. Good TV shows are the product of a specific time in the lives of the characters on the show, the people making the show, and the people watching at home. Change one or more of those, and it usually doesn’t work.
There are exceptions, of course. The passage of time in some ways enhanced both Roseanne/The Conners and Party Down,...

When “Phineas and Ferb” returns for a new season Thursday on Disney Channel and next day on Disney+, it’ll have been just shy of a decade since the Season 4 finale aired back in June 2015.
And while “Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe” debuted on Disney+ in August 2020, the team behind the Emmy-winning animated series told TheWrap at Saturday’s premiere just how touching it was to see the cartoon remain relevant in pop culture despite 10 years off the air.
“I’m so grateful, I feel like fans have always been such a big part of our success and that’s not unnoticed,” Ashley Tisdale said. “I love that they make trending sounds on TikTok of Candace and Phineas and Ferb. Literally, they got us here today.”

In the 2008 “Phineas and Ferb” episode “Comet Kermillian,” the title characters’ older sister Candace is enjoying a day at the park when through a series of unfortunate events, a pair of squirrels wind up in her pants. As she starts convulsing hysterically, a nearby group of street musicians think she’s dancing — and they conjure up, on the spot, the catchy rap tune “S.I.M.P,/Squirrels in My Pants.”
Fifteen years later, “Squirrels in My Pants” experienced new life — on TikTok, of course. Suddenly everyone from Lizzo to MrBeast were doing their own version of “Squirrels in My Pants.” Others were creating their own takes on additional “Phineas and Ferb” classic bits like “Busted” or “There’s a Platypus Controlling Me.”

Before Hugh Grant was a bespectacled serial killer in Heretic, the actor featured in a string of cozy-as-pie rom-coms, including the 2003 holiday classic Love Actually, directed by Richard Curtis.
The film, which features a mostly British cast as they wield in and out of the trials and tribulations of love, spotlights Grant as the affable, bachelor Prime Minister pining after his staffer who serves him tea and biscuits at 10 Downing Street. The Phineas and Ferb revival must address one strange, loose plot thread from the series' original run, regarding Candace's (Ashley Tisdale) best friend Stacy (Kelly Hu), who stumbles upon the series-long Perry the Platypus bombshell with no one else knowing. Phineas and Ferb follows two main plotlines: Phineas (Vincent Martella) and Ferb (Thomas Bordie-Sangster/David Errigo Jr.) building wild contraptions with Candace vehemently trying to show them to their mother, while their pet does battle with evil scientist Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Dan Povenmire). A regular set of characters always participate in these adventures, including the ever-sarcastic and occasionally clueless Stacy.
Stacy's storyline is most often tied up with Candace; as the long-suffering best friend, Stacy either begrudgingly helps or quietly excuses herself once Candace is caught up with the day's attempt to show Linda (Caroline Rhea) the truth. However, in addition to featuring some linear storylines, Phineas and Ferb...

The long-running animated cartoon series "Adventure Time" really was a show like no other, exploring the magical post-apocalyptic world of Ooo with Finn (Jeremy Shada) and Jake (Joe Dimaggio), a human boy and shapeshifting dog. It's an epic, sprawling story with an incredible voice cast that help to bring all of the colorful and unique characters to life, and that means there's some crossover with other popular movies and TV shows — heck, Dimaggio's voice is incredibly well-known in the animation world as the heavy-drinking bending robot Bender on "Futurama." But there's one connection people might not realize, and it's a pretty fun one!

It's difficult to encapsulate the impact of Pendelton Ward's animated juggernaut, "Adventure Time." Not only did the show serve as the launchpad for animators like Rebecca Sugar ("Steven Universe") and Julia Pott ("Summer Camp Island"), but it even served as the structural godfather for Donald Glover's "Atlanta." The series centers on a human boy named Finn and his adoptive brother Jake, a magical dog who can change size at will. The duo goes on magical adventures in very distant lands, meeting new friends, foes, and fascinating characters along the way. The nearly 300-episode series took home seven Emmys, launched a multimedia franchise, and got multiple spin-offs. It was a show that felt like it would go on forever ... until after 10 seasons, it came to a satisfying albeit bittersweet end.

Adventure Time features a wide variety of princesses, each with their own unique characteristics and quirks, adding depth and humor to the show's lore. Not all princesses in the Land of Ooo receive equal screen time, but they all share the commonality of being made up of unusual items or elements. Adventure Time Season 6 marked a tonal shift for the series, with more philosophical musings and world-building lore, although some viewers felt it missed the mark. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Makkos opened up about Fionna & Cake, promising that the animated spinoff would certainly catch the interest of Adventure Time fans who have grown up watching the popular Cartoon Network series. She revealed that Fionna & Cake is part of the streamer's efforts to keep up with the current high demand for adult animation content. "The Adventure Time fans have grown up and people are still coming in the bottom, and they're aging up," Makkos said. "It felt like a perfect show for us. Tonally, it is very much Adventure Time, but Fiona's older. She's in the workforce. It's more adult, so I think it's going to bring in new fans, and it's also going to serve the fans that we already have.

A Phineas and Ferb revival is in the works as part of creator Dan Povenmire’s newly inked overall deal with Disney Branded Television.
There will be another 40 episodes of the popular animated series produced as part of the deal, which will equate to two seasons. It’s not clear where the episodes will air, since Disney Branded Television currently produces series across Disney Channel, Disney+, Disney Junior and Disney Xd.
Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis made the announcement in conjunction with Povenmire during Friday’s Television Critics Association panel.
“There’s songs that we wrote in 2005 for this show that are trending on TikTok. That has been one of the best times in my career is the fact that this whole generation of kids and parents really took this show into their hearts, and it still means so much to them,” Povenmire said.

When the 2003 Christmas classic Love Actually entered the world, it was like a stuffed stocking, filled to the brim with some of Britain’s greatest actors.
From Hugh Grant and Emma Thompson to Alan Rickman, it attracted some of the best performers of the era.
The film also launched the careers of Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Olivia Olson, who were children when they starred in the romcom.
It’s been almost 20 years since Richard Curtis’s film was released, and they’ve all been very busy since then.
Some of the stars of the movie have gone on to work with Curtis again, while others have had huge franchise roles or become synonymous with certain characters, like Martin Freeman’s Dr John Watson in Sherlock.
Here’s a rundown on the Love Actually cast’s varied careers, from 2003 to now…

Alan Rickman was as frustrated as his character during one Love Actually scene. Directed by Richard Curtis, Love Actually featured a talented ensemble cast navigating nine intertwined love stories in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The 2003 romantic comedy film starred Rickman as Harry, a married man who begins to fall for his secretary Mia (Heike Makatsch). One of the movie's most tragic scenes comes when Harry's wife Karen (Emma Thompson) realizes her husband's potential infidelity due to him gifting her a Joni Mitchell CD after she had discovered a gold necklace in his coat pocket.
When Harry sets out to purchase said necklace, he does so while at the mall with his wife, who sets off on her own to buy presents for their mothers. Harry has a brief window of time in which to purchase the necklace for Mia and is almost foiled by the jewelry clerk Rufus'...

Love may actually be all around, but it was mostly a white Christmas when it came to 2003 rom-com “Love Actually.”
Writer-director Richard Curtis reflected on the beloved classic film, saying the lack of diversity makes him “feel uncomfortable and a bit stupid” two decades later.
“There are things you’d change but, thank God, society is changing, so my film is bound, in some moments, to feel out of date,” Curtis said in a interview with Diane Sawyer for ABC’s 20th-anniversary special “The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later” (via Entertainment Weekly).
Curtis continued, “The lack of diversity makes me feel uncomfortable and a bit stupid. You know, I think there are sort of three plots that have sort of bosses and people who work for them.”
The film focused on 10 separate love stories, with Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Laura Linney, Bill Nighy, Liam Neeson, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Alan Rickman,...

Hugh Grant has said that Richard Curtis’s script for Love Actually is “a bit psychotic”.
The Notting Hill star appears in the 2003 Christmas ensemble romcom as the British prime minister who falls in love with an employee (Martine McCutcheon).
On Tuesday (29 November), Grant was interviewed as part of Diane Sawyer’s ABC special The Laughter & Secrets of Love Actually: 20 Years Later.
The 62-year-old spoke about writer Curtis’s script for the film, calling it “a bit psychotic” and adding that it is “Richard on steroids”.
“But the thing is with him, what you have to remember is when he writes about love, he means it,” Grant added. “And that is quite rare.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Grant admitted that he and wife Anna Eberstein had recently “drunkenly” watched bits of the film with fresh eyes.
“It comes from the heart – it’s true,” Grant said.

“At Christmas, you tell the truth,” one character says in Love, Actually–and the truth may be that Love Actually is actually psychotic. Or at least that’s what Hugh Grant once wondered.
In the trailer for the upcoming TV special The Laughter and Secrets of ‘Love Actually’: 20 Years Later, star Emma Thompson recalls a moment she shared with co-star Hugh Grant while filming the holiday romantic comedy. “Hugh came up behind me as we were walking out and said, ‘Is that the most psychotic thing we’ve ever been in?’”
Love Actually is plenty over-the-top, cliche and cluttered, but “psychotic” might be a little excessive. It, too, has been critiqued as of late for its sexism, fat-shaming and depiction of female characters. So while “psychotic” might not be the best choice of words for Grant, one can agree that Love Actually has maybe not aged too well.

It's been almost two decades since Thomas Brodie-Sangster appeared in Love Actually, but he still gets stopped on the street for his role in the classic rom-com. "I don't think Love Actually is going to go anywhere," the actor told Mr. Porter for a piece published Feb. 18. "I don't mind that, that's fine." In the film, Brodie-Sangster played Sam—the stepson of Liam Neeson's recently widowed character Daniel and a young lad who attempts to impress his crush Joanna (Olivia Olson) by learning how to play the drums for their school Christmas show. Brodie-Sangster was just 13 years old when the movie was released in 2003. And while he told Mr. Porter being a...

In 1969, when “Sesame Street” premiered, it invented a thing called children’s “educational” television, and few would deny that it fulfilled that mission — to teach kids and delight them at the same moment. The legacy of “Sesame Street” is vast, to the point that dozens of children’s shows that don’t call themselves educational, or even think of themselves that way, now subscribe to the same mission. In our era, some of the best kids’ TV has been fast and furious, diabolically witty and smart — the educational equivalent of a roller-coaster ride. I’m thinking of shows like “Team Umizoomi,” “The Loud House,” “Apple & Onion,” and “Phineas and Ferb,” which ended its four-season run on the Disney Channel in 2015. So it’s no surprise that “Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe” is one of the sharpest kids’ movies in a while.

Movies have been around since the late 19th century, but only now — after more than 100 years of failure — has someone finally made one that hinges on the invention of a ray gun that replaces anyone it shoots with the nearest available chicken. The device is called “The Chicken Replace-inator,” and it’s the latest weapon created by the mad scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz (of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated fame) in his never-ending quest to kill the fedora-wearing secret agent who always foils his plans and also happens to be a platypus — Perry the platypus.
The cackling lovechild of Abe Vigoda and the Wicked Witch of the West, Doofenshmirtz has come up with all sorts of cockamamie schemes to destroy Perry over the years — one for each of the 222 episodes of “Phineas and Ferb” that aired on the Disney Channel between 2007 and 2015 — but the Chicken Replace-inator has to be among the dumbest and most inspired.
