Artios Awards Nominees Revealed: Netflix Leads With 17 Nominations, HBO/Max With 6

The Casting Society on Friday revealed the non-movie nominees for the 40th Artios Awards, which honor the contribution of casting professionals in these categories. Two new categories have been added this year, as well: Casting for International Film and Casting for International Television Series.

In the television categories, Netflix leads with 17 nominations, HBO/Max with six; Prime Video, Apple TV+ and FX each have five nominations. See the full list of nominees below.

Submissions for feature film nominees open November 13, and those nominees will be announced in January. All the winners will be announced February 12 during galas at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the Edison Ballroom in New York, and White City House in London.

“The Crown,” “Hacks” and “The Bear” were among the shows leading the nominations for the 40th Artios Awards.

The nominations honor the contribution of casting professionals in television, theater, commercials, short film and short form series. Two new categories have been added this year, casting for International Film and casting for International Television Series.

Netflix Leads Casting Society’s 40th Artios Awards Nominations

Netflix led the nominations for the Artios Awards, which were announced by the Casting Society (CSA) on Friday. Now in its 40th year, the awards honor achievements of casting professionals across 22 categories, mainly devoted to TV and streaming.

“Ripley,” “Baby Reindeer” and “The Crown” were among Netflix’s 17 nominations, more than doubling its haul of eight nods in 2023. The streamer’s 2024 total is nearly triple the number of second place finisher HBO/Max (with 6 nominations). Prime Video, Apple TV+ and FX each received 5.

Two new categories – Casting for International Film and Casting for International Television Series – were also announced this year. Additionally, the Atrios Awards honor casting for theater, both Broadway and regional plays and musicals. The organization’s nominees for feature films will be announced in January. This 2024-25 awards season will be the last one before the Academy Awards initiate a competitive Oscar for achievement in casting.

‘Queer Eye,’ ‘Young Sheldon,’ ‘Angels in America’ Among TV and Theater Artios Award Nominees
Netflix’s “Queer Eye,” HBO’s “Barry,” Amazon’s “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and CBS’ “Young Sheldon” are among the TV nominees for the 34th annual Artios Awards from the Casting Society of America.

On the legit side, “The Boys in the Band,” “Lobby Hero” and “Angels in America” were among the productions recognized.

The Artios kudos will be handed out on Jan. 31 in simultaneous ceremonies held in Beverly Hills and New York.

The casting team behind shows such as “American Horror Story,” “Glee,” and “Supernatural” will be honored. Robert J. Ulrich, Eric Dawson and Carol Kritzer of Ulrich/Dawson/Kritzer Casting will receive the Hoyt Bowers Award for their outstanding contribution to the casting profession.

Game of Thrones (2011)
The Deuce, Atlanta, Game of Thrones, The Boys in the Band and Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert are among the Artios Awards nominees in television, theater and short film announced today by the Casting Society of America.

Recognizing outstanding achievement in casting, the 34th Annual Artios Awards will take place January 31, 2019, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles & Stage 48 in New York City.

“It has been an exceptional year on stage and screen,” said Russell Boast, Csa President. “As the profession of casting gains more and more industry recognition we are pleased to announce our first slate of nominees – many of whom have also recently been recognized by our peers at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the American Theatre Wing among many others this awards season.”
