Óscar Casas (“Mi soledad tiene alas”) is the man on the lightning-fast bike in the MotoGP action film “Idols.” The up-and-coming Spanish actor will star in the film for Film Mode Entertainment, 4 Cats Pictures and Warner Bros. alongside multi-platinum pop star Ana Mena.

Mat Whitecross — whose credits include “The Road to Guantanamo,” for which he was awarded best director at the Berlinale in 2006, and “Oasis: Supersonic” — is on board as the film’s helmer.

Rounding out the cast of “Idols” is Claudio Santamaria (“Casino Royale”), Enrique Arce (“Knightfall”), Saul Nanni (“The Leopard”) and Mario Ermito (“Ask Me What You Want”).

Written by Inma Cánovas, Jordi Gasull and Ricky Roxburgh from an original idea by Gasull, “Idols” follows a fiery young motorcycle racer (Casas) who loses his chance at the junior championship after a reckless crash. But he finds a shot at redemption when he receives a surprise offer from a top Moto2 team.

Harder Than You Think (Htyt), which has exclusive worldwide rights to tell the story of the Paralympics through to the 2028 Games in LA, has appointed European production and sales house Off the Fence to find partners for the next four projects coming from its Rising Phoenix Universe initiative.

British indie Htyt was set up by London 2012 Chief Marketing Officer Greg Nugent and is chaired by ex-BBC Director General Tony Hall. It has been building the Rising Phoenix Universe since launching the double Emmy-winning Netflix and Bytedance doc Rising Phoenix, about the history of the Paralympic movement, in 2020.

While it’s been known for several years that Amy Winehouse was courted to sing the theme song for the 2008 James Bond tentpole “Quantum of Solace,” franchise producer Barbara Broccoli opened up about the process for the first time during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly. Winehouse’s short-lived Bond experience is a small part of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video documentary “The Sound of 007,” which also references Radiohead’s scrapped theme song for “Spectre.”

After closing an 8.45 billion deal last year to buy MGM, the longtime home of the James Bond franchise, Amazon has announced that 25 Bond films are heading to Prime Video in the U.S., UK and a few other territories.

The move is hailed as part of the franchise’s 60th anniversary.

Along with official posters and trailers, Prime Video also unveiled The Sound of 007, a Mat Whitecross-helmed feature documentary about the six-decade history of Bond music. The doc will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories worldwide. All 25 of the Bond franchise films and The Sound of 007 will be available October 5.

After the live Eon Productions and David Arnold-created charity concert at the Royal Albert Hall on October 4, Prime Video will globally stream an exclusive recording of the show. At the concert, guest vocalists and a host of stars will perform iconic Bond themes.

The mini-series follows four boxers — ‘Sugar’ Ray Leonard, Roberto ‘Hands of Stone’ Durán, Thomas ‘The Hitman’ Hearns and ‘Marvelous’ Marvin Hagler — as they jostle to take the throne following boxing legend Muhammed Ali’s retirement in 1981.

The distributor has scheduled a global release for the title for autumn 2019. The film is currently in production, directed by Sean Evans for Rue 21 Productions.

This is a watchable, if blandly celebratory and unchallenging portrait of a massive rock institution. It sees no great need to look for the flaws, the problems, the loose thread that could be pulled so the whole thing comes to pieces. Still less is it looking for any Spinal Tap satire. It could be seen as part of an emerging music-doc genre: home-movie intimacy, in which contemporary footage is interspersed with a treasure trove of milky analogue video showing the star’s heartbreaking moon-faced youth, shot by friends or family.

On Wednesday, Trafalgar Releasing will begin rolling out its latest slate of hit London shows, all of which have been captured on film in an effort to broaden their audience. “Funny Girl,” the first of these filmed versions, will debut in theaters on Wednesday for a one-night only presentation. It will be followed by “Red,” an award-winning drama starring Alfred Molina as the painter Mark Rothko; the Tony and Olivier-winning production of “An American in Paris”; and “The King and I,” a performance at the London Palladium featuring Ken Watanabe and Kelli O’Hara.

“We’re always looking to do a range of projects,” Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby said. “We want to do big tentpole productions and also some smaller, more offbeat works.”

‘Burn The Stage: The Movie’ will take in the 2017 Bts world tour.

Event distributor Trafalgar Releasing has acquired global rights to music films Burn The Stage: The Movie, about South Korean boyband Bts, and Mat Whitecross’ Coldplay documentary A Head Full Of Dreams.

Originating from a YouTube series of the same name, Burn The Stage: The Movie marks the film debut for Bts (an acronym of Bangtan Sonyeondan or ‘Beyond the Scene’).

Directed by Park Jun Soo, the film follows Bts’ 2017 ‘The Wings’ world tour and feautures on-stage footage as well as behind-the scenes moments and interviews with the band members.

Amazon Prime has revealed an official trailer for a documentary titled Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams, made by acclaimed filmmaker Mat Whitecross. Coldplay announced on Friday that they will release a career-spanning documentary that will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime and will play in theaters for one night only.

Titled “Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams,” which is also the name of the British pop-rock band’s 2015 album, will document the band’s “colourful” 20-year career, and touts the brotherly bond formed by band members Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland and Will Champion.

“A Head Full of Dreams” will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video starting in the U.K., U.S, Australia and New Zealand on Nov. 16 with local language versions available globally soon after.

Exclusive: Tel Aviv-based festival will open with world premiere of Before My Feet Touch the Ground.

Docaviv, Israel’s top documentary festival, has finalised the selection for its 19th edition (May 11-20).

The Tel Aviv-based event will kick off with the world premiere of Daphni Leef’s Israeli documentary Before My Feet Touch The Ground (pictured), about a film student who became the leader of a popular protest movement.

13 Israeli films have been selected to compete in the Docaviv Isreali film competition, 11 of which are world premieres.

They are competing for the best Israeli film award worth $19,000 (Nis 70,000), the largest prize for documentary filmmaking offered anywhere in Israel.

For the first time, a Fipresci jury will also award a best director award.

The competition will feature work by David Deri, Doron Galezer and Ruth Yuval (The Ancestral Sin), Daniel Sivan (The Patriot), and Rina Castelnuovo-Hollander and Tamir Elterman (Muhi).

Last month, Love Actually fans got a big surprise, when it was revealed that a Love Actually cast reunion is being planned for Red Nose Day. Filmmaker Richard Curtis is writing a new short film that shows what happened to these beloved characters, 14 years later. Over the past few days, Emma Freud, the wife of Richard Curtis who also served as the script editor on the original classic, has been posting numerous photos from the set, one of which solves perhaps one of the biggest mysteries from the original film, answering once and for all, who Keira Knightley's Juliet ended up with.

One of the interconnected love stories in the original romance followed Juliet (Keira Knightley), who gets married to Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor) at the beginning of the film.
