From Dan Fogelman and 20th Television, the political thriller became a hit for Hulu. Starring Sterling K. Brown, Julianne Nicholson and James Marsden, the series follows a Secret Service agent who is desperate to discover the truth after the President of the United States is found murdered. The Hulu series was most notable for its premiere, which revealed its big twist: The present timeline actually takes place in a city-sized underground bunker after a mysterious doomsday event.

The ABC premiere of “Paradise” drew 1.4 million viewers, and the series’ premiere debuted on Hulu’s Top 15 Today, a daily list of the platform’s most-watched titles. It then remained on the list throughout all eight episodes of its Season 1 run. The finale then brought...

‘Paradise’ Finale Amasses Season-High 6.3M Views In 7 Days
Image
The Season 1 finale of Dan Fogelman’s Hulu drama Paradise attracted 6.3M views globally in seven days, per Disney.

That’s a season-high audience, according to the company, at least in the seven-day viewing window. There’s not any comparable data to determine how much the audience grew over previous episodes. Disney previously reported 7M views in nine days for the first episode.

Speaking of the first episode, it has now amassed 17.6M global views, up 151% from that initial number Disney put out.

While numbers are scarce, it’s clear the series is doing well for Hulu, because it’s already been renewed for a second season.

The Hulu Original drama series is from 20th Television and stars Sterling K. Brown (This is Us) as Secret Service Agent Xavier Collins. The drama is set in a “serene community inhabited by some of the world’s most prominent individuals. But this...

‘Paradise’ Season 1 Finale Scores 6.3 Million Views Globally
Image
“Paradise” scored a big ratings win with its Season 1 finale. The Sterling K. Brown-led drama series snagged 6.3 million views worldwide, based internal data accounting for seven days of streaming across Hulu and Disney+ in international markets.

The series premiere of the Dan Fogelman series has also reached 17.6 million global views since its premiere on January 26, a 151% increase from when it first reported viewership. Disney defines a view as total stream time divided by runtime.

The milestone comes on the heels of “Paradise” being renewed for a second season last month. The show has continuously held a top spot on the Hulu Top 15 Today list since its premiere.

Per the logline, Brown stars as Agent Xavier Collins, whose life is turned upside down when President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) is found dead. Of course, the twist is that Collins, Bradford and around 25,000 other people are — so they believe — the only survivors of a global apocalypse,...

Paradise is an American political thriller TV series created by Dan Fogelman. The show premiered on Hulu in the U.S. on January 26, 2025, and received mostly positive reviews from critics. In February 2025, it was renewed for a second season.

Trouble Abounds in New ‘Paradise’ Trailer
Image
What can you expect from a series called “Paradise?” Anything but.

Hulu’s new drama from “This Is Us” scribe Dan Fogelman stars Sterling K. Brown, James Marsden, and Julianne Nicholson, three people with access to society’s most protected and elite pockets — for whom all hell breaks loose.

The show’s first teaser revealed that Marsden plays President of the United States Cal Bradford, who is found dead by Brown as Secret Service Agent Xavier Collins. When it turns out that the President has been murdered, Xavier becomes the top suspect. But as the teasers and trailers suggest, there’s more going on here than an assassination attempts, and the series tagline “Read Between the Lies” points to a major conspiracy.

The new trailer dives deeper; as soon as Xavier finds Potus, he tells another agent (Nicole Brydon Bloom) “Call it in. Our people only.” He searches the area...

The 25 shows we can’t wait to watch in 2025
Image
There was lots of great TV in 2024 even though it was kind of a weird year due to the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes. The long-gestating Shōgun delivered and won a record 18 Emmys to boot. Hacks produced its best season yet and an Emmy shocker. X-Men ’97 was nostalgia done right. True Detective returned to form (and angered deposed creator Nic Pizzolatto) with its Night Country installment. And Baby Reindeer – which was on virtually no one’s radar at this point last year – became a surprise global smash. Those are just a few of this year’s highlights. But 2025 could be even better and bigger with new seasons of shows delayed by the strikes and some old favorites taking their final bows on the docket alongside plenty of intriguing new titles.

Here are our 25 most anticipated shows of ’25 in chronological order of release.

Sterling K. Brown Plays Accused Assassin in Hulu’s ‘Paradise’ Trailer
Image
Sterling K. Brown is under investigation for the murder of the president in his new series, Paradise.

The Hulu series was announced back in 2023, but not much was known at the time about what Brown and This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman had in store for their reunion project. Hulu handed out a straight-to-series order less than a year after their Emmy-winning and beloved NBC drama wrapped its storied run.

Never Let Go's Young Stars Reflect On Having Halle Berry As A Screen Mom
Image
Never Let Go is a new horror film that also happens to lean heavily into the realm of a family drama. It was brought to the screen by writing duo Kc Coughlin and Ryan Grassby and directed by Alexandre Aja, known for his past horror work including Crawl and The Hills Have Eyes. The movie stars Halle Berry as a motherunnamed, as far as the audience knowswho ensures that her twin sons never leave the house without a tether, ostensibly to keep them safe from deadly evil lurking in the woods.

The sons in question, Nolan and Samuel, are played by Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins, respectively. Despite their age, both actors have appeared in exciting projects before joining what would become the movie with Halle Berrys best Rotten Tomatoes score since 2019. Daggs previously appeared in The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey and Undone, and Jenkins was in...

‘Never Let Go’ Review – Alexandre Aja’s Lean Bedtime Story Has Sharp Teeth
Image
Director Alexandre Aja continues his recent streak of helming self-contained horror, shifting from the claustrophobic confines of space in Oxygen and the flooding Florida house in Crawl to a rundown cabin in the woods with his latest, Never Let Go. Its simple setup and fairy tale qualities feel familiar, with inevitable comparisons drawn to Bird Box due to the title’s meaning. While it is lean in plotting, Never Let Go becomes a vicious little bedtime story with sharp teeth in Aja’s hands, one that refreshingly doesn’t handhold.

Never Let Go introduces a small family of three deep into their self-imposed isolation in the woods. Under the strict rules of Momma (Halle Berry), siblings Samuel and Nolan (Percy Daggs IV) spend their days venturing out to forage for food while tethered to ropes. The rope is key: there’s an evil lurking in the forest that only Momma can see,...

Never Let Go Review: Into the Woods of Dread
Image
Halle Berry stars as a mother determined to shield her twin sons from harms unseen in the remote woods of their secluded home. For years, they’ve kept to themselves in the forest cabin, venturing out only with ropes tied to survive whatever menace lurks beyond. But as resources run low and the boys grow curious, tensions mount over what dangers may truly haunt the wilderness—and whether any evil exists apart from fears within.

Directed by Alexandre Aja, Never Let Go takes on tones of psychological horror crossed with a parent’s nightmare. Screenwriters Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby offer just enough detail to pique interest while maintaining an unsettling ambiguity. Is this mysterious force tormenting the family only real in the mother’s mind? As circumstances worsen, so too do divides forming between her will to protect and the sons’ newfound independence.

Berry delivers a visceral performance leading...

At this point in TV history, we’re still seven years before the Game of Thrones premiere. Remember that, please!

Let’s get the list started with the best show of 2004!

Halle Berry Learned How to Skin Squirrels for Spooky ‘Never Let Go’
Image
Halle Berry can’t let go of psychological thrillers.

The Oscar winner turned up in Las Vegas on Wednesday during Lionsgate’s studio presentation to promote its new film, Alexandre Aja’s Never Let Go, which brings Berry back into a genre she explored more than 20 years ago, in earlier work like Gothika. But this one pushed her to new limits.

Set for release on Sept. 27, Never Let Go centers on a mother and her twin sons as they try to protect themselves from evil lurking in and around their home. Needing to stay connected at all times — always by a connection of ropes — they hold tight to one another and never let go. However, one of the boys questions if the evil is real, triggering a terrifying fight for survival. Anthony B. Jenkins, Percy Daggs, Matthew Kevin Anderson, Christin Park and Stephanie Lavigne also star.

Aja directed from a...

‘The Crow’ Delays Release to Late Summer, ‘Saw XI’ Moves to 2025
Image
Lionsgate has adjusted release dates for such high-profile titles as The Crow and Saw XI ahead of the company’s CinemaCon presentation.

The Crow is set for release on Aug. 23 after having previously been dated for June 7. Rupert Sanders’ feature reboot that stars Bill Skarsgard will now compete on that weekend with Amazon MGM Studios’ thriller Blink Twice and Sony Pictures’ faith-based The Forge.

Lionsgate has also moved Saw XI to Sept. 26, 2025, from its previously planned release on Sept. 27, 2024. The franchise is giving a bit of space to the new film after the success of its critically praised Saw X, which hit theaters in September and surpassed $110 million globally.

Never Let Go, Alexandre Aja’s psychological feature that stars Halle Berry, Percy Daggs and Anthony B. Jenkins, is now set for release on Saw XI’s former date of Sept. 27, 2024. Previously undated, the movie focuses on a mother and her twin sons,...

The 12 Best TV Detectives, Ranked
Image
Compelling TV detectives should be more than just great sleuths. Subverting character archetypes can make a detective more interesting to watch. A great TV detective needs excellent writing and an actor who connects with the character.

Detectives are often among the most compelling characters on TV, and the best ones are worth rewatching even after their cases are closed. Detective shows are reliable sources of drama because of the inherent high stakes of police work and the intriguing mysteries that often come with the crime genre. Great TV detectives shouldn't just be good at their jobs, they should have an interesting way of working that makes them fun to watch. In fact, a detective with some flaw that hinders their investigation can be just as fascinating.

TV detectives have developed into a broad range of styles, but many of them fulfill similar tropes in a lot of ways. Jaded old...

Veronica Mars Cast and Characters (Then and Now)
Image
Veronica Mars was and still is a beloved teen-noir mystery show, and it was highly rated during its airing. It debuted in 2004 on Upn for two seasons, ending with its final season on The CW in 2007. A sequel film by the same name was released in 2014 after a successful Kickstarter fundraising effort by Kristen Bell and director Rob Thomas. In 2019, an eight-episode fourth season was released on Hulu. The series took place in the fictional California coastal town of Neptune and followed Kristen Bell's titular character as she navigated life as a high school outcast by day and a private investigator by night under the tutelage of her defamed detective father.

The Hulu revival allowed fans to see what their favorite characters had been up to since the series cancelation. The series hosted some of today's biggest stars, like Kristen Bell and Ryan Hansen. Many of the show's cast have...

Christmas In Louisiana Review: Omg, Just Kiss Already!
Is anyone else in the mood for some gumbo?

Christmas on Lifetime is all about finding love, but the best stories are usually about a second chance at love.

Christmas in Louisiana was another cute second-chance at love story. Approximately ten minutes into the movie, all one could say is: "just kiss already!"

Sarah and Luke were cute. They were both single. They both had feelings for each other. What is the deal, people?!

Sarah getting in her own way is the only reason this movie had to drag on for two hours.

Well, that and the simple fact that Christmas in Louisiana gave Percy Daggs III more screentime in less than two hours than he had in all four seasons of Veronica Mars and the movie.

Yeah, I said it.

The primary lesson to glean from this movie is always listen to Gran.

Gran has years of wisdom and no filter.

We Can't Help but Wonder: Is Our Fave Veronica Mars Bff Wallace in the New Season?
Mild spoilers for the Veronica Mars revival ahead!

The Veronica Mars revival on Hulu reunites us with nearly all of the original cast of characters, bringing back the faves we haven't seen in years and seeing what they've been up to. Of course, it wouldn't be Veronica Mars without Wallace Fennel, Veronica's trusty, loyal, take-no-crap best friend. Never fear: actor Percy Daggs III returns for season four, bringing Wallace back when Veronica needs him the most.

When we rejoin him in the revival series, Veronica's longtime bestie has turned out to have one of the most stable lives out of the entire main cast. He's still coaching basketball at their alma mater, Neptune High, and by the time the revival starts up, he's happily married and has a baby son. The friends are still close, as the first episode shows Veronica going to dinner at Wallace's house and hanging out with his family.

‘Veronica Mars’: Surprise! All Eight Episodes of the Revival Are Available to Stream Right Now
Surprise, Marshmallows! Trust “Veronica Mars” to do the unexpected.

The former Upn/The CW teen noir detective series defied cancellation, and much like the Ironborn on “Game of Thrones,” proved that what is dead may never die. First came the revival movie that Kickstarter funded in 2014, and then Hulu entered the fray by ordering a revival series that was supposed to premiere on July 26 … except that the series is now actually dropping a week early.

Kristen Bell dropped that bombshell at the Comic-Con panel for the Hulu revival on Friday. Both shock and then elation rippled through the audience as they digested the news. Joining Bell in celebrating the bold release plan were co-stars Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, Ryan Hansen, Francis Capra, Percy Daggs III, and executive producers Diane Ruggiero-Wright and Rob Thomas.

The panel ended at 12:45 p.m. Pt, which is when all eight episodes of the season were released for bingeing immediately.
