In a desperate attempt to start a new life, Tad Cummins — the former Tennessee teacher accused of grooming and kidnapping his 15-year-old female student — allegedly tried to paddle to Mexico from California in a kayak he purchased.
The revelations was among several from testimony given during Cummins’ appearance in federal court on Friday in Nashville on a kidnapping and sex crimes charge, a federal official tells People.
During the 38 days the pair was missing, Cummins purchased a two-seater kayak for $1,500 in San Diego. The 50-year-old allegedly told investigators he planned to take Elizabeth Thomas to Mexico. But after testing the...

If you had asked me at the beginning of Scandal Season 6 if I thought it would serve as a return to form for the series, I would have probably laughed in your face.
Scandal Season 6 Episode 12 was another crazy hour that made me realize why I fell in love with the series all those years ago.
Having all of the characters together to take down the enemy was the best move.
Characters like David, Jake, and Marcus have sat perched on the periphery this season, with nothing to do. A show like Scandal has a lot of key players, so I can understand that it happens sometimes.
David has never been the most faithful person, so I think he's not the innocent bystander he makes himself out to be with the ladies. He needs to own his shit, and maybe he'll find someone who is not working for the likes of Peus.

Wake up in the morning, wipe away the blood of Elizabeth North from your Armani white pant suit, and get to going, you know what I’m saying? We kick off this week after an insane Scandal episode last week that said goodbye to everyone’s least favorite favorite. And it’s almost as if an apocalyptic reset button has been pushed. Olivia is in bed with Fitz. Rowan is captured and being jailed in the White House, but with danishes. Isn’t that a great life? Rowan doesn’t want it though.

Liz is dead!
On Scandal Season 6 Episode 11, Elizabeth North was given her marching orders with a golf club. Yes, we're still not quite over that.
Below, TV Fanatics Jasmine Blu, Christine Hinton, Sarah Hearon and Jim Garner discuss the big death, Olitz reuniting and Mellie's next move.
Liz is dead. React!
Jasmine: Ding-dong, the witch, is gone! Somewhere around the time of Liz and David's less than appealing sexy times (and them screwing over Susan), I was 100% done with Liz North.
Portia de Rossi is great, but with every scene, I wondered if the generous Ellen DeGeneres could do anything to save us from her wife's terrible character.
R.I.P., Liz. You overstayed your welcome, but you went out the same way you came in: being opportunistic and conniving.

2017-04-21T05:37:41-07:00'Scandal' Showrunner Talks About Season's Big Twist
For only the second time in Scandal's six-season run, the ABC political thriller shockingly said farewell to a series regular.
Thursday's episode featured the surprising death of series regular Portia de Rossi's Elizabeth North, Mellie's (Bellamy Young) savvy chief of staff.
"I have been a fan of Portia's for years and it was an honor to have her join our Scandal family," Scandal creator and showrunner Shonda Rhimes said in an exclusive statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "Portia infused Liz North with a smart, powerful and vulnerable soul while also making the humor sing — and that brought all of us in the writers' room a lot of joy. If I could keep her forever, I would — but kidnapping is illegal. Besides, I am incredibly impressed with the vision she has for her creative future.

Spoiler Alert!
Do Not Proceed If You Have Not Watched Scandal Season 6 Episode 11!!!
You've been warned. The rest of you probably want to know what the heck is going on!
For the second time in Scandal's history, a series regular has been killed off.
Portia de Rossi first joined Scandal back in Scandal Season 4 as Elizabeth North. She was made a series regular just before Scandal Season 5.
Despite the heavy storyline following Mellie and the presidency during Scandal Season 6 and the fact North is her Chief of Staff, de Rossi hasn't been around all that much.
There's a reason for that. She's been very busy.
So busy, in fact, that she's off to do other things creatively, and in very dramatic fashion, North lost her life on "Trojan Horse," when she was beaten to death with a golf club by the Mystery Woman to keep Mellie in line.

Early in last week's episode of "Scandal," Scott Foley's spy Jake Ballard finally lost his patience with the show's main character (and his ex-girlfriend), D.C. fixer Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington). He compared her to a plague, and asked, "How does someone as brilliant and accomplished as you not know what you are? Who you are?" It was a dynamite scene, in a "Scandal" season that's been full of them. At least once per week, and often more, the Shonda Rhimes-created drama will pair off two characters — say, Tony Goldwyn's arrogant President Fitzgerald Grant with his former chief of staff Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry), or Fitz with soon-to-be-ex-wife Mellie (Bellamy Young) — with a tangled, tragic mix of personal and professional history, and lets them tear each other into little tiny pieces over all their past sins. It's fantastic each time. "Scandal" is a fundamentally melodramatic show, where...

On last night’s Scandal, Lena Dunham played Hannah Horvath, only a version of Hannah Horvath that lived in Washington D.C., had sex with the most powerful men in the U.S. government and wrote a memoir about it. She had a really bad wig, but she fit right in with the cast — particularly when it comes to reciting one of Shonda Rhimes’ trademark monologues. Salute to you, Lena, for making it do what it do.
Ok, now for the rest of the people on this show.
1. Aren’t we glad that Abby and Olivia are friends again so we can watch Liv judge Abby’s dating tastes like the good ole days?
It was nice to see Oliva fight off making a face upon discovering that Abby and Leo have been boning for months now. Granted, Olivia is in no position to judge anyone’s taste in men or sexual activity,...

Congratulations to all of the Gladiators: Like Olivia Pope, we are free from our captors. In her case, those random losers who tried to hawk her to the highest bidder; for us, a storyline that had no business being spread out over this many episodes.
For the first time this season, I enjoyed Scandal a whole bunch and without excessive levels of confusion (just my usual levels). Still, I have questions per usual.
1. Was Fitz really going to risk national security just to save Olivia Pope from danger?
Of course he was because he’s always thinking with the wrong head. What is it with Republicans and bringing their personal life into war?
2. So we can locate and take out Osama Bin Laden, but we can’t get Olivia Pope back without all of the hassle?
I know I’m not the only person who thought this.

This Thursday on ABC’s Scandal, Fitz, Jake, Cyrus, Mellie, Huck, Quinn, David and one surprising ally conspired to derail VP Andrew’s coup and follow Olivia’s trail of breadcrumbs. But when all was said and done, were they too late to the rescue?

On the hit ABC political drama Scandal, Portia de Rossi plays the duplicitous Elizabeth North, whose conniving schemes are beginning to come undone.
It's the type of role that de Rossi has said she’s wanted since the series first began, so it only makes sense that the actress was rather tight-lipped about revealing spoilers when talking to Et at the 2015 People's Choice Awards.

The 41-year-old actress and her wife, comedian Ellen DeGeneres, walked the red carpet outside the awards show at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, where she did promise that Scandal is going to keep people captivated when it returns Thursday, Jan. 29.
When asked about the multitude of shocking surprises revealed about her character during the mid-season finale, de Rossi promised "there's more to come."

Without a doubt, 2014 was the year of Shonda Rhimes.
The ABC uber-producer took over the coveted Thursday night lineup and had viewers glued to their seats with “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and this year’s breakout hit, “How to Get Away with Murder,” all airing back-to-back.
ABC hasn’t stacked three shows by the same executive producer into one night since Aaron Spelling took over Saturday nights with “T.J. Hooker,” “The Love Boat,” and “Fantasy Island” back in 1982.
