Fan-filmed video from the gig shows lead guitarist Mark Tremonti and touring guitarist Brian Brasher playing The Edge’s famous ringing intro on the anthemic opening track from The Joshua Tree. The cover is pretty faithful to the original, although Scott Stapp’s raspy hard-rock delivery offers a different vibe than Bono’s soaring original vocal track. With it being the first time Creed has performed the song live, Stapp can be seen occasionally peeking at the lyrics on a monitor.
Creed’s “Summer of ’99” North American tour continues tonight (July 29th) in Wichita, Kansas, and runs through an August 30th show in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Pick up tickets here, and see the band’s cover...

What do Eminem’s “Without Me,” Lady Gaga’s “LoveGame” and Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” have in common? They all have music videos directed by Joseph Kahn, who, after a seven-year hiatus, returns to cinemas with his new creature-feature comedy “Ick,” in theaters now.
Kahn updates his Y2K swagger for a 2025 audience in his narrative comeback, which acts as a VFX-fueled meditation on nostalgia, disaster films and Gen Z’s cultural dominance. Starring Brandon Routh, Malina Pauli Weissman, Mena Suvari, Harrison Cone and Taia Sophia, “Ick” follows Hank, a high school it-boy turned high school janitor. As Hank and Eastbrook’s graduating class are consumed by visions of an unfulfilling tomorrow, they largely (and hilariously) ignore an invasive alien entity known as the Ick, which threatens to destroy their futures altogether.
Days before the wide release of “Ick” on July 27, Kahn sat down with Variety to discuss his return to feature filmmaking,...

A decade ago, Gene Simmons of Kiss made a declaration: rock is officially dead. Or as he told Esquire, it was “murdered” by an era of piracy and file-sharing. The guitar, he lambasted, was becoming a relic.
Over a decade later, it would appear that reports of the genre’s demise have been greatly exaggerated. Halfway through 2025, rock is among the fastest-growing genres in the country, according to Luminate’s just-released midyear report, outpacing both Latin and country in the U.S.
Leading the rock charge are a pair of newcomers: Sweden’s Ghost and British best new artist contenders Sleep Token, who both managed to top the Billboard 200 album chart within two weeks of each other in May, ending a years-long rock drought. In Sleep Token’s case, the band’s Even in Arcadia broke the record for most-streamed hard rock album in one week, Billboard reported at the time.

Wolfgang Van Halen’s Mammoth paid their respects to the late Ozzy Osbourne during their show on Tuesday (July 22nd) in Hartford, Connecticut, playing a cover of the ballad “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”
Wolfgang and his band learned of Ozzy’s passing right before soundcheck for the show at Xfinity Theater, where the group was supporting Creed’s ongoing tour.

While addressing the crowd during the gig, Wolfgang explained he and his bandmates felt that they needed to cover an Ozzy song rather than just mentioning his passing.
“That fucking sucks that we are in a world that doesn’t have Ozzy Osbourne anymore,” Wolfgang said. “And it was right before we went on soundcheck that we found out. The latest film from writer-director Ryan Coogler, Sinners is a thrillingly original vampire movie that plays like From Dusk Til Dawn in the Deep South. As sinful and sexual as its title suggests, it’s a richly detailed, emotionally engaging period drama that’s packed with terrific performances and has a soundtrack to die for…and then the vampires show up and things get properly crazy.
After a brief teaser of a prologue, the film opens in 1932, with the Smokestack twins, Smoke and Stack returning to their home town of Clarksdale, Mississippi after time spent first in the trenches of WWI and then in Chicago, where they apparently ran with Al Capone. Sylvester Stallone, who starred in action movies back in the 1980s, ’90s, and the present as well, is a Hollywood icon. Known for his rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stallone’s movies (much like Arnold Schwarzenegger) are finally getting a remake.
The twist in the tale is that although Cliffhanger starred Stallone in the lead role in 1993, the remake will replace him with a female star. According to Screenrant, the upcoming remake will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with Lily James and Pierce Brosnan in leading roles.
As Hollywood runs dry on original movies and the new generation takes an interest in the older movies, remakes are inevitable. Hollywood has already started this trend with Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Running Man, and recently got a remake starring Glen Powell in the lead role.
However, Cliffhanger is officially the first remake of a Sylvester Stallone action film, and it probably won’t be the last.

In midtown Manhattan one fall night, a mélange of bros descended upon Herald Square to see Creed. They walked around clutching Budweiser beers and hot dogs in their fists — some of them even lit their Marlboro reds in unison during “Higher.” The crowd was peppered with 3 Doors Down shirts (they were the opening act), Dallas Cowboys jerseys with “Stapp” on the back, and the types of dirty-joke tees you buy on the Jersey Shore boardwalk (one read “Do MILFs Not Drugs”).

The Michael B. Jordan-directed new crime thriller loses its lead star. After Sinners, Jordan is scheduled to helm and star in a new movie adaptation of The Thomas Crown Affair, set to arrive in theaters on March 5, 2027. The movie will mark the second adaptation of Norman Jewison's 1968 original of the same name, starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway.
Previously, John McTiernan brought forth a version with Pierce Brosnan, Rene Russo, and Denis Leary. With a script from The Fall Guy's Drew Pearce, Jordan's new version casts Bones and All's Taylor Russell to play the insurance investigator who's sent to track down the one responsible for the bank heist but ends up falling in love with Jordan's painting-stealing billionaire.
According to Deadline, Russell has exited The Thomas Crown Affair over creative differences. Production continues in London while the studio looks for her replacement.

Stephen King fans love a good page-to-screen adaptation. The horror genre has been greatly enriched with several young and acclaimed filmmakers adapting his work. Among some of his iconic works, Pet Sematary, directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, keeps on giving, whether you like the changes in the story or not, and its streaming success is a testament to it.
As the spooky season approaches, the fans are turning to see the 2019 film as it has climbed the charts of Tubi and is currently sitting at #7. The movie made a space for itself on the charts in a matter of days as it was added to the streamer earlier this month. Other movies on the chart include another King adaptation, Dreamcatcher, Titanic, Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, and more. What makes a great sports film? Oftentimes, the assumption is that a focus on the ultra-competitiveness of the sportsmen and the story of grit is all that's needed to make it a great piece of work. When some of the best sports movies are spoken of, the likes of Creed, Rocky, and Warrior all easily come to mind, and for good reason; however, The Fighter shouldn't be far off. There is a case to be made that it has flown under the radar, but upon closer inspection, it is a worthy entry into the genre.
Originally released in 2010, The Fighter, directed by David O. Russell, starringMark Wahlbergand Christian Bale, has found a new streaming home. After all these years, it is now more accessible than ever to a new generation of viewers who might have missed the Oscar-winning film the first time around. Based on the true story of professional boxer Micky Ward,...

Set in 1930s Mississippi, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners pulls liberally from the folklore surrounding that period’s explosion of blues talent in the Delta area. Musicians of the time, crushed by the weight of Jim Crow and the Great Depression, generally plied their wares in juke joints, and the film centers on one such establishment newly acquired by identical twins Smoke and Stack (Michael B. Jordan), dubbed the Smokestack Twins.
The brothers fled the South as soon as they could, making their way as soldiers in the European trenches and enforcers for the Chicago mob. Now they’ve returned to Clarksdale with a lot of ill-gotten gain and even more cynicism about their travels, having found only more discrimination in ostensibly more progressive places. In coming home, they’ve chosen the devil they know.
Gathering supplies for their opening night, Smoke and Stack also source talent for their establishment from those living in the area.

For fans of The Office, re-watching episodes never gets old. But if viewers still find themselves laughing after dozens of viewings, just imagine how difficult it was for the actors to keep a straight face during filming. When it comes to uncomfortable comedy, the show is a league of its own.
But one episode in particular pushed things so far, even John Krasinski couldn’t keep it together. It’s a scene so hilariously inappropriate, so wildly out of pocket, that it actually broke Krasinski out of character. And yes, it involves Michael Scott, pants zippers, and no safe jokes.

The perennial piece of advice "write what you know" is a good rule of thumb for writers of all kinds, as familiarity only affords a writer additional insight and opportunity. Yet it can be a double-edged sword, particularly when using real-life people for inspiration. Those writers who look to their friends, family, and other people in their social circle for inspiration at least have the option of speaking to those folks personally in order to get a sense of how they'd feel if their character or life experience was used in their novel or screenplay. It can be a lot trickier when a writer uses a public figure for inspiration. Sure, there's a decent likelihood that this celebrity may never learn about your work, but on the off chance they do, would they be okay with it? And what if the script you wrote that's inspired by them becomes a huge success,...

Ryan Coogler has cemented himself as one of the most interesting voices in cinema, and his latest project, Sinners, is a perfect example of his unique vision. In a world where IP is king, and franchising a good project seems like a foregone conclusion, Coogler made a modern vampire classic that can stand all on its own.
In an interview with Ebony magazine, Coogler talked about his inspirations for Sinners, and his potential plans for a sequel. "I never think about that," Coogler said about his plans for future installations of Sinners. "I've been in a space of making franchise films for a bit, so I wanted to get away from that. I was looking forward to working on a film that felt original and personal to me and had an appetite for delivering something to audiences that was original and unique."

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners became the breakout hit of the year so far as the vampire horror original took the world by storm with its innovative storytelling and messaging. The Michael B. Jordan starrer saw him play two characters, twins, on screen. It was set in the 1930s in Mississippi and blended social themes of the time with the vampire genre.
Coogler created history with the film by securing an unorthodox deal, where the rights for the movie would revert back to him after a set number of years, giving him complete ownership over his material. While this might make plans for a sequel complicated, the Creed director reportedly had no plans for one while working on Sinners.

The Big Bang Theory’s new sequel series surrounding the comic book store owner, Stuart Bloom, is set to bring back several familiar faces from the original show.
Amid these returning characters, there’s one more who deserves a comeback, someone who seems to have mastered the art of dry humor after years of dealing with Sheldon Cooper, Dr. Siebert, the president of the California Institute of Technology.
Though his appearances on the original series were limited, his dry wit and subtle frustration with Sheldon left a lasting impression on long-time fans. Seeing him return in the new series would be a small but meaningful treat for the audience.

Could you imagine a scientist who hates change, working at Michael Scott’s Dunder Mifflin Scranton branch? Well, it turns out, back in 2011, the Primetime Emmys dared to imagine something like this when they did a once-in-a-lifetime crossover sketch between TV’s most iconic characters and The Office.
Among several iconic characters, the sketch involved Aaron Paul and Sheldon Cooper—the two absolute misfits who could never be a part of an office scenario. Considering how one deals with science and the other definitely doesn’t sell printer paper for a living, their appearance felt like a fever dream.
So, if you’ve missed out on this bonkers or have forgotten this gem, then rewind with us.

As the Creed universe expands with a newly announced series, franchise star Michael B. Jordan expresses excitement about the direction of the acclaimed Rocky spinoff. Though the Creed-verse is now a decade old, Jordan says the idea came years before.
Speaking during the Amazon Upfront Presentation, Jordan recalled how director Ryan Coogler pitched the idea of him playing boxer Adonis Creed. "Fun fact: the first film we did was called Fruitvale Station and something really, really unique and special happened in that movie," the actor said via Deadline. "Before we shot one frame for that movie, he pitched to me the idea for Adonis Creed, that’s where the genesis of this entire thing kind of started. Slipping into those gloves as Adonis Creed, has been nothing short of transformative. It changed my life. We’re just getting started with the Creed-verse."

The Rocky universe might be expanding again, as Michael B. Jordan, who led the first spin-off trilogy, Creed, is working on a new TV show set in the same universe. Despite some bumps along the road, the Rocky franchise is the undisputed heavyweight champ of boxing movie franchises. Creed reignited passion in the franchise when it was released in 2015. The new spin-off will follow a similar path, potentially moving away from Rocky Balboa and Adonis Creed to follow the next generation of boxers.

The Rocky franchise, crafted by Sylvester Stallone, is one of the longest-running ones in entertainment history. Stallone passed the baton over to Michael B. Jordan with the spin-off series Creed. However, fans expecting to see Stallone return to the iconic franchise have a hard truth to face.
This reunion dream seems increasingly unlikely given the announcement of Delphi, a new live-action series set in the Creed universe. While this expansion sounds exciting for some fans, others might not be too happy if they were hoping for Rocky Balboa’s return alongside Adonis Creed.

He played one of the most memorable Marvel villains in 2018’s Black Panther, opposite Chadwick Boseman. In 2025, he is making waves with the vampire genre film Sinners. All these films also contribute to the actor’s highest-grossing films.

To top things off, the one-shot will feature bonus materials that spotlight the legendary creator's over five decades in the industry.
