Exclusive: Brad Holcman, who has exec produced series including 60 Days In and Intervention, is leaving A&e.

Deadline understands that Holcman is exiting the company after joining in 2012 as Senior Director of Non-Fiction and Alternative Programming.

In addition to overseeing series such as Booked: First Day In and Accused: Guilty or Innocent?, he worked on A&e’s Home.Made.Nation block, which features series like Triple Digit Flip, 24 Hour Flip, 50/50 Flip, Rachael Ray’s Rebuild and Zombie House Flipping.

Home.Made.Nation, the multi-platform content hub, recently signed a development deal with Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine for lifestyle series such as Find My Country House, a co-production between Hello Sunshine and Abode Entertainment, which will premiere in the summer of 2024.

Holcman has also worked on shows such as Duck Dynasty, Panic 9-1-1 and America’s Top Dog.

black-ish‘s Anthony Anderson and The Neighborhood‘s Cedric the Entertainer scour the country to learn everything they can about barbecuing on A&e’s Kings of BBQ. Premiering on August 12, 2023, the new unscripted series will find the two friends learning the best techniques as they prepare to launch their own BBQ brand, AC Barbeque.

New episodes of the 10-episode season arrive on Saturdays at 9pm Et/Pt.

Cedric the Entertainer executive produces along with A Bird and A Bear Entertainment’s Eric C. Rhone. Anthony Anderson and Brian Dobbins from Just a Kid From Compton; A&e’s Elaine Frontain Bryant and Brad Holcman; and Propagate’s Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Drew Buckley, Linh Le, and Rebecca Graham Forde are also executive producing the unscripted series.

After conquering primetime, Anthony Anderson and Cedric the Entertainer have their sights on prime beef. The actors are partnering to launch their own barbecue label, AC Barbeque, and will document their quest to perfect the skill of the grill via the new A&e Network series “Kings of BBQ.”

The series, which is still being developed under that working title, will follow the pals as they travel the country looking for advice and techniques from barbeque experts. A&e announced the greenlight of the 10-episode unscripted series on Wednesday as part of a flurry of news tied to its upfront meetings with advertisers.

PBS’ Masterpiece and BritBox UK have renewed “Sanditon” for second and third seasons.

The critically acclaimed drama series based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel will premiere on BritBox and later air on ITV.

Season 2 of “Sanditon” will continue to follow heroine Charlotte Heywood as she returns to the coastal resort of Sanditon and engages in intriguing and romantic relationships with familiar and new characters.

“Sanditon” will begin filming later this year in and around Bristol, and casting will be announced in the future.

Justin Young, who wrote four episodes of Season 1, will develop the new seasons, serving as lead writer and executive producer. Andrew Davies, who originally created the show, will return as a writer and executive producer.

Charles Sturridge is lead director, Rebecca Hedderly serves as series producer and Ian Hogan produces. Executive producers are Belinda Campbell for Red Planet Pictures, Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece and Chloe Tucker for ITV/BritBox.

Exclusive: A&e has given the greenlight to a second season of Accused: Guilty or Innocent?, the true-crime series made by British production outfit Brinkworth Productions.

The documentary series follows individuals accused of a serious crime from the point they are charged, to the conclusion of their case in a court of law. Producers say it’s the first show of its kind on U.S. television.

Accused originally started life on ViacomCBS’s UK network Channel 5 in 2017 before it journeyed to America. A&e premiered the first eight-part season in April, offering an intimate account of people mounting their defense and going through a trial.

The first episode in Season 1, for example, followed the case of Bryan Lawson, who was charged with murdering his wife. It offered front-row seats to Lawson’s six-month route to trial, in which we meet his family, go inside the courtroom and see shocking CCTV footage of the killing.

In today’s TV news roundup, IFC has renewed “Year of the Rabbit” and Netflix released a trailer for “Altered Carbon” Season 2.

Nathalie Emmanuel has been cast in Quibi‘s upcoming series “Die Hart” with Kevin Hart and John Travolta. In it, Emmanuel plays a “tough-minded student” of Hart’s character. Hart plays a fictionalized character of himself who gets his wish of no longer wanting to be the comedic sidekick when a famous director offers him to his dream of being a leading man action star. However, Hart must first train at the world’s greatest action star school where he is pushed to his limits by the action school coach (Travolta). Production for this series is set to begin this February.

Fox NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee is to front A&e’s canine competition series America’s Top Dog alongside expert trainer and former Secret Service member Nick White.

The pair are to front the series, which sees four police K9 teams, including the dogs from the hit police series Live Pd, compete against one civilian team in each episode for the title of Top Dog.

The teams will be tested on their speed, agility, and teamwork by completing a series of expert tasks on a massive obstacle course including navigating a complex maze for scented items and apprehending and taking down a suspect in a bite suit, among a variety of other challenges. Each week’s winning team will receive $10,000 and an additional $5,000 to donate to the animal charity of their choice. Veteran sportscaster Curt Menefee is about to take on some new hosting duties. The longtime Fox NFL Sunday host is joining A&e’s new competition series “America’s Top Dog,” which features K9 police and civilian dogs (plus their handlers) competing in an obstacle course for cash prizes.

Menefee will be joined by ex-Marine and former Secret Service member-turned-dog-trainer Nick White, with sideline reporting by Jamie Little. The series comes from MGM’s Big Fish Entertainment and is set to premiere this winter on A&e.

A&e Network has ordered a live stunt series titled “The Impossible Live.”

The series, which hails from Kew Media Group’s Essential Media Group, will consist of five two-hour episodes featuring daredevils performing death-defying stunts such as parachute-less jump from a plane onto a speeding train, a motorcycle jump off a cliff in which the daredevil must drop the bike and grab on to the skids of a passing helicopter before the motorcycle plummets to the ground below, and the highest wire walk ever attempted from one hot air balloon to another.

In addition, A&e and Essential have partnered with daredevil Bello Nock and his company Opportunity Nocks, Inc. to create “Volcano Walk Live,” a live special showcasing a world record high-wire walk over an active volcano.

A&e Networks has ordered “The Impossible Live,” a stunt series that features people with a death wish attempting ridiculous feats, like jumping out of a plane onto a speeding train without a parachute.

Hailing from Essential Media Group, “The Impossible Live” (working title) will feature “the world’s greatest daredevils attempting the most death-defying stunts ever seen on live television; including a parachute-less jump from a plane onto a speeding train, a motorcycle jump off a cliff in which the daredevil must drop the bike and grab on to the skids of a passing helicopter before the motorcycle plummets to the ground below; and the highest wire walk ever attempted from one hot air balloon to another,” according to A&e. Five two-hour episodes are planned.

The series will begin pre-production this fall.

A&e Network and Essential Media Group continue to push the boundaries in the genre of high-stakes stunts on live TV with new series The Impossible Live (working title). A&e has ordered five two-hour episodes of the series, which they describe as the most ambitious live stunt series ever attempted.

A&E has ordered two more seasons of its docuseries “60 Days In,” which will move from Indiana to Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail for its next editions.

“60 Days In: Atlanta” will premiere Thursday, March 2, at 9 p.m. Et. The show will once again focus on innocent participants who are sent inside jail and treated like any other inmate, in order to get a sense of what life is like inside the pokey.
