Josh Holloway's distinctive red Plymouth has driven its last joyride. "Duster," the 1970s-set series by creators J.J. Abrams and Latoya Morgan focusing on getaway driver Jim Ellis caught up in a crime syndicate and FBI agent Nina Hayes (Rachel Hilson) tasked with taking it down, was officially canceled by HBO Max before the dust had even settled on last week's season finale. The show marked a long-awaited reunion between Holloway and Abrams, both of whom worked together on the hit ABC series "Lost," as well as Abrams' first significant project since "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" hit theaters in 2019. Incredibly enough, it also represented the only actual title to come to fruition from Abrams' and his production company Bad Robot's lucrative first-look deal with HBO announced back in 2020. The high-profile casualties in that deal included the likes of "The Shining" spin-off "Overlook," "Justice League Dark," and the wildly expensive "Demimonde.

This post contains spoiler from the Duster season finale on Max.
We’ve arrived at the season finale of Duster on Max. As we left off last week, it was clear the house of lies built by Nina (Rachel Hilson) and Jim (Josh Holloway) as they investigate Saxton (Keith David) had come crashing down. But could they find a way to survive? That’s the question we had to answer during this week’s finale, “66 Reno Split.” Let’s dive in and see how it turned out.
We open this week by flashing back to South Philly in 1954. There, Saxton is threatening Virgil Hayes (Kenneth Mosely). Seems Virgil isn’t keeping up his end of the numbers-running racket. Young Nina watches the exchange. It’s not long before her father ends up dead, providing the fuel that’s led to her choice of career and current situation.
Present day Nina wakes,...

This post contains spoilers from Duster season 1 episode 7 from this point forward.
We’re up to the penultimate episode of the season and things are getting tense. Jim (Josh Holloway) and Nina (Rachel Hilson) have been playing it close to the edge for a while, but will they get burned? This episode saw them all pushing closer to the line. Let’s dive into this week’s episode of Duster.
An old face returns
Remember Deputy Groomes (Donal Logue)? Well, you probably hadn’t thought about him for a while. Jim certainly hasn’t, either. But as we open the episode, Groomes is awake and itching to talk to Saxton (Keith David). That can’t be good. But Jim doesn’t know that it’s coming—yet.
Jim, meanwhile, has been tapped for a special mission with Saxton. He’s set to drive him to Las Vegas for a meeting...

"They're in their heads, I'm in mine." Freestyle Digital Media has released an official trailer for a hometown indie dramedy film titled Out and About, from filmmaker Peter Callahan. This premiered at a few regional festivals last year, including the Albuquerque, Fort Lauderdale, and Ojai Films Festivals, with a VOD release set for May this summer. The film takes us right inside the mind of a middle-aged man as he tries to come to terms with his life over the course of an afternoon walk through his old hometown. The film's director Peter Callahan also stars as Jeff in this contemplative film about a search for meaning, following as he wrestles with aging, success and failure in America, and his ultimate place in the world. The cast includes Maggie Lacey, Tom Nelis, Bridget White, Matthew Boston, and Daniel Stewart Sherman. At first glance it reminds me of My Dinner with Andrew,...
