NYPD Blue Alum’s Cause of Death Revealed

NYPD Blue star Austin Majors’ death was the result of an accidental fentanyl overdose, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Majors, best known for his role as the son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz, died on Feb. 11. At the time, the 27 year old was living at a homeless shelter, where he was photographed by the Los Angeles Daily Times a week before he died.

Austin Majors, a busy child actor of the 1990s and early 2000s best known for his seven-season role as the young son of star Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz on NYPD Blue, died Saturday in Los Angeles. He was 27.

His death was confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Majors’ portrayal of young Theo Sipowicz from 1999 to 2004 was followed by guest appearances on such series as According to Jim, American Dad!, Desperate Housewives, An Accidental Christmas (2007) and How I Met Your Mother. He also appeared in numerous television commercials.

[Off Stage] Small Town Saturday Night
It’s not surprising a film like Small Town Saturday Night never found theaters. Written and directed by Ryan Craig, this small little indie about the small lives of inhabitants of a, wait for it, “small town” doesn’t offer anything controversial in content, revolutionary in technology or relevant by way of movie stars. Yes, Chris Pine stars as Rhett Ryan, a guitar-strumming dreamer on his way to Nashville and bigger and better things, but this thing was made and cut before people knew what a “Chris Pine” was.

This is the kind of movie that recalls past movies, but does it with an earnest that can only come from true experiences from real people. From now until the end of time, characters in movies will continue to say things like “everything will be alright” and “just be yourself,” and, in turn, so will characters in real life.
