Colón is a writer and actor from the Bronx, New York, whose television pilot Papi, made The Blacklist’s inaugural Latinx TV List. As one of the top three finalists, he received a blind pilot deal at Hulu. He has had projects in development at Hulu, ABC & Utv and is a 2024 Wgae Showrunner Training Academy graduate.

As Deadline revealed in April, Colón has been set as the co-writer/creator of the television adaptation of Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena’s memoir The Book of Jose, alongside Kenya Barris, which is currently in pilot development at Starz with BET Studios. Exclusive: Starz is developing The Book of Jose, a series about the life of hip-hop star Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena from BET Studios.

The project was originally announced as in the works at Showtime in 2022 before it stalled. It has now found a new home at the network where Cartagena hosts the TV talk show Fat Joe Talks.

The Book of Jose is a scripted series based on the rags-to-riches story of Grammy-nominee Fat Joe, and chronicles his evolution from growing up in the Bronx to becoming a global superstar with a career spanning over three decades.

Martha Plimpton and Mireille Enos have been officially announced as part of the cast of Brad Ingelsby’s upcoming series at HBO, a followup to his hit Mare Of Easttown.

Plimpton’s casting was revealed in the “Coming To Max in 2025” trailer released Sunday night, which also unveiled Task as the title of the show (fka Untitled Task Force Project), headlined by Mark Ruffalo. (You can watch it below)

HBO is rounding out the cast of its upcoming limited series Task.

The drama from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby has added Martha Plimpton and Mireille Enos to its already large ensemble. Mark Ruffalo heads the cast as an FBI agent leading a task force investigating a string of drug-house robberies in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Plimpton’s presence in Task was revealed Sunday in a teaser for HBO and Max’s upcoming programming. She will play Kathleen McGinty, a career FBI agent who recruits Tom (Ruffalo) to head up the task force, just as she learns that she is being forced to retire. Enos will play Susan Brandis, Tom’s wife and the heart and soul of their family. She and Tom married young and is the reason he left the priesthood.

Nonprofit Outfest is celebrating its 40th anniversary with the kickoff of its 2022 edition on July 11, when the annual Los Angeles LGBTQ+ film festival will launch with new awards, programming and a lineup of over 200 screenings.

“One of the things that I really did like is that [the festival] wasn’t in June, because I think there’s this way of thinking about queerness as if it is siloed within the space of one month,” Outfest Artistic Director Faridah Gbadamosi told TheWrap in a recent interview. “I like the idea that it exists beyond the month of June because it kind of brings this idea that our identities can’t be siloed within the space of one month.”

Netflix On Board For Latinx List 2022; Streamer Offering Script Deals To Selected Scribes

Exclusive: Back for a third year, the Latinx List has added some significant streamer sinew for 2022.

Netflix has now come on board with the scriptwriting initiative to offer WGA minimum script deals to two selected scribes. With five original feature films and five original pilot scripts to be chosen, the submission period for the 2022 Latinx List runs from now until September 2.

Successful candidates can expect to be notified soon after the submissions window closes. Scripts can be submitted here through blcklst.com.

The Black List Unveils Latinx TV List Writers Selected For Hulu Blind Script Deals

Exclusive: In May, The Black List unveiled the 10 writers for the inaugural Latinx TV List. To mark the conclusion of Hispanic Heritage Month (which is today), three of the writers from the list have been selected to receive blind script deals with Hulu: Dominic Colon, Juan Carlos Fernandez and Anna Salinas.

Initially, only two WGA minimum blind script deals were expected, but expectations were exceeded and three were chosen. the Latinx TV List was announced via Hulu’s YouTube channel All Accents Welcome.
