Born in Scotland. Served in the Royal Navy during World War Two. Emigrated to Sydney after the war. Ran a factory. Moved to a farm near Walcha in 1953 with his wife and five children. Lived there for a decade. Began writing plays and short stories while there. Returned to Sydney in the early 1960s. Moved to London in 1969. Died of lung cancer in 1996.
