‘From’ Season 4 Gets Frustrating Release Update From Series Star
Image
After that eye-opening and heartbreakingly tragic Season 3 finale, Fromfans are more desperate than ever to return to the mysterious Town for some more answers. Luckily, it’s not a question of if we’ll be going back, but when, as the series scored a Season 4 renewal even before the Season 3 finale aired. Speculation has been swirling for months about its return date. Back in March, executive producer Jeff Pinkner hinted that a late‑2025 premiere was possible, saying, “We’re wildly hopeful that it will be on the air in 2025.” But series creator and co‑executive producer John Griffin poured a bit of cold water on that optimism, suggesting a 2026 debut was more realistic as filming could stretch into the holidays. Now, a new update from Catalina Sandino Moreno, who plays Tabitha Matthews, seemingly confirms that Griffin’s prediction was the right one.

Speaking with The Direct, Moreno offered an update...

The Best Lost Replacement Show With 96% on Rotten Tomatoes Is Quietly Climbing the Streaming Charts
Image
ABC's sci-fi adventure drama Lost is considered one of the best shows of all time, and its popularity continues even over a decade and a half after its finale in 2010. Luckily, fans have a new replacement show in MGM+'s From.

The two sci-fi shows share several similarities, whether it's because of their shared creative minds, the common themes, or supernatural creatures that are either good or evil. However, From is not just a replacement for Lost because of its similarities, but also because both brought something fresh and original to the genre. Although Lost wrapped over a decade and a half ago,From will continue with Season 4, and the show is currently making a splash in the charts, FlixPatrol reports.

From premiered in 2022, and although it features a near-perfect score from the critics, the series is still criminally underrated. The series released its most recent season on Sept. 22, 2024, and,...

Ballerina: Ana de Armas’s John Wick spin-off is dancing its way toward the top of the PVOD charts
John Wick
Making movies is challenging, and making a splash at the box office is even harder. On paper, a John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas as a lethal soldier of the Ruska Roma sounds like a guaranteed money-maker. However, audiences are fickle, and going to the cinema is expensive, even if you’re sneaking snacks from the Bulk Barn and requesting sparkling water instead of Coca-Cola. Despite positive reviews and solid word of mouth, Armas’s Ballerina stumbled at the box office. Thankfully, Ballerina is already Jetéing to the top of the PVOD charts.

According to FlixPatrol, Ballerina finished second on iTunes in the United States on July 1 and July 2. The action-packed film finished third on Vudu and seventh on Amazon on July 2.

Produced on a reported $90 million budget, Ballerina danced to a $110 million take at the worldwide box office. These aren’t the numbers you’d expect from a John Wick spin-off,...

$105M John Wick Spinoff Movie Is Now Available For Digital Release After One Month In Theaters
Image
A John Wick spinoff movie that made $105 million at the box office is now available on digital platforms after spending one month in theaters. The action franchise started in 2014 with John Wick, starring Keanu Reeves as the legendary assassin who comes out of retirement to seek revenge against those who killed his dog, a final gift from his recently deceased wife.

Since then, the franchise and its intricate mythology have expanded significantly with three sequels and John Wick: Chapter 5 currently in the works, all directed by Chad Stahelski. Other than the mainline movies, there have also been various spin-offs that have expanded the franchise. This includes the Peacock miniseries The Continental, exploring the origins of the titular hotel and assassin safe haven.

There are also several John Wick spinoff movies in the works, including one focused on Caine with Donnie Yen reprising his role from John Wick: Chapter 4 in addition to directing.

'John Wick' Spin-Off 'Ballerina' Now Available on Digital Streaming
Image
Although John Wick is set to have a highly-anticipated fifth installment, the franchise is rapidly expanding beyond the reach of Keanu Reeves' titular character. The first major spin-off, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, hit theaters earlier this year to generally positive buzz. The acclaimed spin-off is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 76% rating, while audiences especially loved it, registering an impressive 93% on the Popcornmeter scale. Of course, it is hard to compare to the action film series that has grossed $1 billion, but Ballerina was able to recapture the magic and introduce a new assassin, played by Ana de Armas. After less than a month in theaters, the spin-off is headed to home entertainment.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is now available to purchase or rent on digital platforms and Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) as of Jul. 1. A streaming platform release date has not been announced just yet.

MGM+’s Underrated 96% Rotten Tomatoes Horror Series Gets a Creepily Exciting Filming Update From Star
Image
Horror stories bring chills to the bones and the MGM+ horror hit From often has viewers feeling that way. It is also a never-ending maze, week after week of twists and turns that could end in a horrific death or a frankly unexpected plot twist. Season 3 of the horror series ended on a cliffhanger, but thankfully, it sets up Season 4 which was renewed in the lead-up to that finale, to start answering some of those lingering questions. As we look forward to the show's return, a new filming update has come from one of the show's stars, which should calm some of its more impatient fans.

From Season 4 is expected to arrive sometime later this year or in early 2026, and it would seem like the join towards that has begun. In a post shared on Instagram, Elizabeth Saunders, who plays Donna in the MGM horror television show, has teased fans that season 4 is currently underway.

Scott Adkins Will Play Ben Affleck's Brother After Both Auditioned for the SnyderVerse's Batman

What's your favorite Batman performance to date? For some, it's an easy pick. Even if your top choice isn't Ben Affleck from Zack Snyder's DC Universe, fans were certainly excited to see the Caped Crusader face off against the Man of Steel in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice back in 2016. Affleck won the part over a number of actors who auditioned for the coveted superhero role, including underrated action legend Scott Adkins (Undisputed), as confirmed during MovieWeb's recent interview with the action star. MovieWeb caught up with Adkins while he was promoting his latest filmDiablo, and the famed martial artist noted that his connection to Affleck didn't end with Batman. They'll be spotted together in Netflix's upcoming film The Rip.

The Perfect Lost Replacement Show With 96% on Rotten Tomatoes Is Climbing the Streaming Charts
Image
Lost is one of the most popular shows of all time, its mystery and controversial ending still being a big topic of conversation, 15 years after its series finale. Although many shows tried to replace it, few could.

MGM+'s From is one worthy spiritual successor, though. The mystery horror series has many themes in common with Lost, as both shows explore survivors dealing with an unexpected event. Since its release in 2022, From has grown exponentially more popular and, while fans await Season 4, the series is rising again on streaming, going up one point on MGM+ despite no new updates to the follow-up, per FlixPatrol.

The mystery horror has been constantly in the Top 5 on MGM+'s charts last week. It has been ranging between the fourth and fifth position, but on June 21, From has gone up one position to third place, proving fans are more than ready to get back to the mysterious town.

Ballerina Director Reveals Alternate Ending Idea With Scrapped Character
Image
This story contains Spoilers for Ballerina.

Ballerina director Len Wiseman shared one of his original ideas for the John Wick spinoff’s ending sequences, which would have introduced another character. The filmmaker is no stranger to the action genre, after previously directing two Underworld movies, 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, and 2012’s Total Recall.

During a recent interview with EW, Wiseman opened up about his alternate ending idea, which involves Eve’s supposedly dead mother. This scrapped ending’s surprising twist will not only reveal that Eve’s mother was alive all along, but it would have also shown Eve’s mother as the one who ordered the hit on her.

"At one point I had [in the script] that she meets her mother, and we never got there,” he said. “We were maybe going to shoot the scene, but that's always something that we hear, her mother's dead, but in this world,...

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (2025) Review
Image
The official convoluted yet more beguiling title to the 2025 movie Ballerina directed by Len Wiseman is From the World of John Wick: Ballerina. We all know that this is because firstly, ‘Ballerina’ is a terrible film name and John Wick is a fantastic fan favourite franchise.

Ballerina isn’t the first spin-off to use the moniker of one of Keanu Reeves most popular and pain-inducing characters. The excellent prequel TV miniseries The Continental, which detailed the rise to power of one of John Wick’s key characters Winston Scott was also tagged as being ‘From the World of John Wick’.

But what does that strange subtitle actually mean? Well, what started as a seemingly middle of the road revenge story in 2014, penned by Derek Kolstad, has turned into a sprawling epic all action quadrilogy. It was elevated above other martial arts and trigger happy flicks by its lead actor, some...

Ballerina Movie Star Explains That 'Big Sister' Twist

Ballerina star Catalina Sandino Moreno helped break down that big surprise twist at the end of the recent John Wick spin-off film. The movie follows Ana de Armas' Eve Macarro, a ballerina assassin looking to make her mark in the underground criminal world by taking out her vengeance against the people who killed her father.

This reveal upends both of the sisters' entire perspectives on their lives and their situation—one that quickly turns deadly, with Lena losing her life to an explosion. The Direct spoke with Moreno in an exclusive interview, where she explained how "everything changes" for Lena the moment she learns who Eve Macarro is.

Ballerina, directed by Len Wiseman and distributed by Lionsgate, is playing in theaters worldwide.

Keanu Reeves in John Wick (2014)
What Did You Think of Ballerina?
Keanu Reeves in John Wick (2014)
The John Wick spin-off Ballerina (which has been marketed as From the World of John Wick: Ballerina) is now in theatres. JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray has shared his take on the film, and his 7/10 review can be read at This Link. Now we want to know, what did you think of the movie?

Back in 2017, Lionsgate bought an action thriller spec script called Ballerina, which was written by Shay Hatten and ranked on The Black List as one of the best unproduced screenplays of that year. The idea was to have Hatten rewrite the script to take place within the world of Lionsgate’s John Wick franchise – and Hatten was also hired to co-write John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which included a set-up for the Ballerina concept of ballerina assassins. Hatten did his rewrite, Len Wiseman was hired to direct the film, Ana de Armas was cast as the title character,...

‘From the World of John Wick: Ballerina’ Review
Image
Stars: Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick | Written by Shay Hatten, Derek Kolstad | Directed by Len Wiseman*

Taking place between the events of John Wick 3: Parabellum and John Wick 4, this spin-off action thriller is nominally directed by Len Wiseman, although it’s worth noting that John Wick director / fight co-ordinator Chad Stahelski reportedly reshot the majority of the movie over three months of reshoots. Suffice it to say that the film’s action sequences have a very Stahelski-esque feel to them, either way.

The film begins with a prologue sequence, in which a young girl named Eve (Victoria Comte) witnesses her father being murdered by a squad of goons under the command of The Chancellor (Gabriel Byrne). Eve is subsequently taken in by Continental Hotel owner Winston Scott (Ian McShane), who takes her to a ballet school run by the...

“Ballerina,” Lionsgate’s attempt to expand its “John Wick” franchise, earned $3.75 million in preview screenings on Thursday.

The action spinoff stars Ana de Armas as a dancer turned assassin, obsessed with extracting revenge over her father’s murder. “Ballerina” is expected to gross between $28 million to $30 million from 3,400 North American locations in its first weekend of release. Overseas, where the film is opening in 82 markets, it should pick up another $30 million. The film’s full title is the insanely clunky, focus-tested within an inch of its life, nearly as long as its 125 minute running time, “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.”

Keanu Reeves has starred in four “John Wick” films and makes in appearance in “Ballerina.” But the film is being carried by de Armas, an Oscar-nominee for “Blonde,” as well as the star of more mainstream fare such as “Knives Out” and “No Time to Die.” The film,...

Chad Stahelski on the ‘John Wick’ Franchise’s Insane Body Count and Keanu Reeves’ Fifth Movie: ‘Still Working on It’
Image
Keanu Reeves insists he hasn’t paid attention to how many people have been killed in the “John Wick” franchise.

“John’s just focused on one thing at a time,” Reeves told me at the “Ballerina” premiere on Tuesday. “He doesn’t look at that. He’s just trying to survive.”

But Chad Stahelski, who directed the first four “John Wick” movies and oversees the franchise across all media for Lionsgate, has a hunch at the franchise’s body count. “I would like to think we cracked a thousand,” he said. “I think we’re probably right around there.”

Stahelski also gave an update on the fifth “John Wick” movie.

“That’s a good question,” he said when I asked about a possible shooting start date. “Still working on it. It’s all about time for us. When everything feels right and we’ve really seen the movie in our heads,...

Does The John Wick Spin-Off Ballerina Have A Post-Credits Scene? A Spoiler-Free Guide
Image
After being in the works for literally years, the world of "John Wick" is finally expanding with its first spin-off movie. Ana de Armas is entering this wild world of international assassins as Eve Macarro in "Ballerina," aka "From the World of John Wick: Ballerina." Taking place between the events of "John Wick: Chapter 3" and "Chapter 4" (which allows for Keanu Reeves to show up as Mr. Wick), this is a big step forward in terms of expanding the scope of this beloved action franchise.

Lionsgate, the studio behind the very successful "John Wick" series, has plans to expand this universe beyond Reeves and Wick in the future. The question is, will the studio tee up some of what's to come in "Ballerina" by including some sort of credits scene? It's a question that must be asked, as credits scenes have been all the rage in franchise filmmaking for nearly...

Ballerina Review: A solid John Wick spinoff with loads of action
Image
Plot: Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas), an assassin who’s part of the notorious Ruska Roma, seeks vengeance on the network of killers who murdered her parents.

Review: Ballerina is one of the more satisfying franchise spin-offs in recent memory. In this era of IP, every studio is desperate to max out the potential sequels and spinoffs their key franchises can handle, and Lionsgate has a whole slew planned around the John Wick franchise. Yet, what makes Ballerina different is that this doesn’t feel like much of a derivative of the franchise, given that Keanu Reeves was coaxed back to reprise his role. While his contribution to the film is mainly limited to the last act, his involvement is far more than a cameo, with him having a legitimate supporting role, giving the movie a welcome sense of legitimacy.

The movie takes place between the third and fourth John Wick movies.

Catalina Sandino Moreno on ‘From’ fan theories: ‘Whenever you think that you’re in the right lane, you’re not’
Image
From star Catalina Sandino Moreno is completely in the dark about the show's mythology and story arcs. "Season 3 finished in such a way that it just opened up so many doors, and you don't know where the story is going to go," she tells Gold Derby.

"I have no idea where my character is going to go. I'm very curious. I've asked [creator] John [Griffin] and [producers] Jack [Bender] and Jeff [Pinkner]. I'm like, ‘Just give me a little,’ and they're like, 'Nope,'" she continues. "Well, we just have to wait and see what's going to happen. They're very secretive, as they usually are. Even in Season 4, they're not giving any crumbs."

The horror drama is set in a decaying old ghost town in middle America that appears to be under the control of an unknown malevolent force that traps anyone who arrives. The unwilling residents struggle to stay alive while plagued by...

Ballerina
Image
Let’s rewind to 2021. In only ten minutes of screen-time, Ana de Armas, playing the supporting role of CIA agent Paloma in No Time To Die, stole the show, kicking Spectre ass alongside Daniel Craig in spectacular style. It was the first indicator that she was primed for action-hero greatness. And though roles in The Gray Man and Ghosted followed, it’s only now with Ballerina — a spin-off set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4 — that that early promise has come into full bloom. And not a moment too soon. For make no mistake: the John Wick franchise now has another force to be reckoned with.

Once again, vengeance is the name of the game. Mercifully, no dogs are harmed this time around. When her father is murdered, Eve Macarro (de Armas) is set on a bloody path; that path includes rigorous training in...

Daniel Craig in No Time to Die (2021)
Deeper: Ana De Armas teases her next project with Tom Cruise
Daniel Craig in No Time to Die (2021)
After making an impression with her brief action scene in No Time to Die, Ana De Armas can be seen wielding guns and kicking bad guy butt again in the upcoming John Wick spin-off Ballerina. While that movie attracted some eyebrow raises during its production with news of reshoots, the end product doesn’t look to be a total disaster as first reactions say that the action in it is a lot of fun and the plot (while underwhelming) isn’t completely disorienting. Our own Chris Bumbray teased, “Happy to say Ballerina is actually a solid addition to the John Wick franchise, and a good star vehicle for Ana de Armas, who is a born movie star.”

De Armas continues to raise her stardom as she is also set to star in a movie with Tom Cruise, titled Deeper. Doug Liman directs Deeper, and reportedly, Cruise and Armas were spotted together,...

The movie stars Ana de Armas as the main character, with Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus in supporting roles.

Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, and Lance Reddick reprised their original characters, with Reddick appearing on screen for the last time before his passing.

‘Ballerina’ Star Ana de Armas Says Tom Cruise ‘Supports Every Movie’ and ‘Really Wants’ Audiences to ‘Go to the Theaters’: ‘We Are Working Together’
Image
Ana de Armas is returning the praise to Tom Cruise.

At Tuesday night’s premiere of “Ballerina” at the TLC Chinese Theater in Hollywood, star de Armas said it is “unbelievable” that Cruise made the effort to publicly endorse the film. She also made sure to emphasize that his support of cinema does not begin and end with the “John Wick” spinoff.

“You know what, he supports every movie,” de Armas told Variety‘s Marc Malkin. “He really wants the industry and cinema to do well and [wants] people going to the theaters. We’re working together, so he got to see ‘Ballerina’ and he actually really liked it. He loved the ‘John Wicks.'”

She continued, “It is very special that someone like him is supporting [‘Ballerina’]. It is really special in general to have other actors and people supporting each other. We can do well all together.”

Bruce Willis in Die Hard (1988)
Ballerina director Len Wiseman explains why action is better when the hero takes a beating
Bruce Willis in Die Hard (1988)
It has come to light in recent years that some of our recent crop of action movie stars have it in their contracts that they can’t be shown losing in a fight, and/or their character can’t take more hits in a fight scene than they deliver… which has always struck me as deeply strange, because the action heroes in the old days were often shown taking a beating. And their movies were better for it! Part of what makes Die Hard great is because John McClane isn’t invulnerable; in fact, he’s a bloody, wounded mess by the end of the movie. Sylvester Stallone was never afraid to have his characters get hurt. Riggs barely survived some of the Lethal Weapon movies. The list goes on, but the fact that the heroes of yesteryear took a beating made their movies more effective. And one filmmaker who...

“The Rip”
“The Rip” is a new police crime feature, written and directed by Joe Carnahan (“Narc”), starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon as Miami cops, with Steven Yeun, Kyle Chandler, Sashe Calle, Néstor Carbonell Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins and Teyana Taylor, releasing January 16, 2026:

‘…‘The Rip’ came out of a deeply personal experience that my friend went through, both as a father and as head of tactical narcotics for the ‘Miami Dade’ police department,” said Carnahan.

‘It’s inspired in part by his life and then, by my enduring love for those classic 70’s cop thrillers that really valued the character and interpersonal relationships and became touchstones of that era — films like ‘Serpico’ and ‘Prince Of The City’ and more recently, Michael Mann’s ‘Heat’.”
