Saturday Night Live has set a return date, announcing the season 51 premiere date. And with it comes speculation on who will host and reports about potential cast changes under Lorne Michaels.
SNL returns to NBC on October 4. It's slightly later than season 50's late September start date, but falls in line with the premiere dates for past seasons. With just over two months until showtime, Lorne Michaels has a few decisions to make regarding the cast.
According to Deadline, Michaels has yet to make any decisions about new cast members. The outlet reports that the first round of applications for new performers came prior to July 4. Sources also tell Deadline that Michaels is focused on hiring "character-driven performers" rather than stand-up comedians.
While that could change based on who submits material or gets called in for an audition, it's a good sign for Saturday Night Live's future. More original...

After a pretty momentous season celebrating its 50th anniversary, Saturday Night Live has set its return.
The venerable NBC show will premiere its Season 51 on October 4. It’s in line with recent premiere dates, with Season 50 returning on September 28, Season 49 premiering on October 14 and Season 48 launching on October 1.
NBC did not announce who would host the season premiere.
The process for who will be leaving and who will be staying on the late-night variety show is still in its early stages; creator Lorne Michaels is not expected to make any big decisions for at least the next couple of weeks.
The first round of submissions for new cast took place ahead of the July 4 weekend, but it’s unclear how many slots are available and Michaels usually holidays in Europe over the summer. Sources did tell Deadline this month that he was leaning more toward strong, character-driven performers rather than...

For a business that’s all about putting people in seats, new Just For Laughs owner Sylvain Parent-Bedard has made a ballsy money-back offer as a once-dominant stand-up comedy showcase for Hollywood returns from the dead.
If Montrealers aren’t bursting with laughter watching Jfl galas this weekend at the Place des Arts hosted by Roy Wood Jr., Fortune Feimster, Michelle Buteau and Saturday Night Live castmember Mikey Day, they’ll get their hard-earned dollars back.
“If they’re not happy, we’re going to reimburse them without argument,” Parent-Bedard, a Quebec comedy veteran who has done a pivot to English-language comedy by buying Jfl out of bankruptcy in 2024, tells The Hollywood Reporter.
He has big shoes to fill, after Jfl over the decades left belly-laughing Montrealers entertained by big names like Jerry Seinfeld, Jimmy Fallon, Lewis Black, Chris Rock, Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Larry the Cable Guy and others.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone had a lot to say when they took the stage at San Diego Comic-Con following a recent stretch that has seen plenty of headlines about the long-running Comedy Central animated series.
Parker and Stone addressed the Hall H crowd Thursday as part of a panel promoting the network’s adult animation programming, alongside Beavis and Butt-Head creator Mike Judge and Digman! co-creator Andy Samberg. At the start of the panel, moderator Josh Horowitz addressed the elephant in the room by asking the South Park creators if they had been following the noisy reaction to the show’s season 27 premiere that aired Wednesday and included an unflattering depiction of President Donald Trump.
Parker had a succinct response, saying jokingly with a straight face, “We’re terribly sorry.” That was the extent of the reply, although there would be more to come about the episode.

After a two-year hiatus, the wait for new episodes of Mike Judge's Beavis and Butt-Head is almost over. Today, Comedy Central announced that Season 3 of the animated series is coming sooner rather than later. The announcement was made with a wacky new trailer, which you can check out in this article. Season 3 of the revival series is set to debut on September 3, with episodes rolling out weekly.
Once again, Beavis and Butt-Head will follow the title characters (both voiced by Mike Judge himself) as they go through absurd, hilarious, and shocking adventures, with the brand of lowbrow humor that defined a whole generation back in the 90s. Per tradition, there will be a lot of sniggering, random jokes, and head-banging in the new episodes of the show — and fans aren't complaining.

While Saturday Night Live offers a scroll of its writers during the show’s closing credits, you rarely get to hear about which funny people authored a particular sketch. After hearing Devon Walker explain what happened to one SNL writer on the Lemme Say This podcast, maybe that’s a good idea.
During Walker’s first year on Saturday Night Live in Season 48, YouTube sensations the Try Guys found themselves embroiled in a scandal. A quick refresher: In 2022, one of the Try Guys had an extramarital affair with an employee, leading him to exit the group.
SNL often spoofs a particular week’s pop-culture buzz, so a Try Guys sketch featuring Bowen Yang, Mikey Day and Andrew Dismukes wasn’t a surprise. In Entertainment Weekly’s review of the show, it called the sketch “an amusing riff on mainstream news media’s tendency to get sidetracked, and buried in silly minutia.

Just For Laughs has inked $20M in new broadcast TV deals ahead of the launch of this year’s festival — the first edition of Jfl Montreal in two years — organizers announced on Tuesday.
Among the 50 hours programming announced as part of the deal, which will be broadcast around the world, is Roast Battle Canada, Season 5, which the fest’s new President & CEO Sylvain Parent-Bédard teased in a sit-down with colleagues Spencer Griffin and Nick Brazao in our just-released Comedy Means Business podcast on the festival. Take a look at further highlights below.
“Some of these broadcasters are reconnecting with Just for Laughs after several years, while others are joining us for the very first time,” said Parent-Bédard today. “Together, they’ve partnered with us to make this relaunch a shared success and to provide an extraordinary global platform for comedy from here and around the world.”

Dana Carvey described portraying Joe Biden on Saturday Night Live as challenging due to the former president’s mental state. Speaking on a new episode of his podcast Fly on the Wall, Carvey explained that it was “delicate” to parody someone who was “compromised mentally.”
“I knew that he was compromised mentally,” Carvey said. “I mean, it was obvious. But it was a delicate thing in the comedy world. There were a lot of people who did not want to do anything that would kind of ding him in an awkward way.

Even though Dana Carvey was never part of the same Saturday Night Live cast as Tracy Morgan, anytime the 30 Rock star would bump into the Wayne’s World star, he’d refer to him as “alum”.
It’s a feeling that only 165 other people know.
And Carvey, who was a cast member between 1986 and 1993, is responsible for some of SNL’s most iconic characters including Church Lady, Gareth Algar and Hans.
“We understand the glue and the wig, and the cards as well as the adrenaline rush of it and really being under prepared most of the time,” Carvey told Deadline.
But it wasn’t until the launch of his Fly on the Wall podcast, the SNL oral history show that he hosts with David Spade, that he really realized what being a part of this institution meant.

There isn't much to do during the Saturday Night Live offseason other than speculate about cast departures. But one star is getting ahead of the rumor mill, promising that he wants to stick around SNL as long as possible.
SNL's 50th season seemed like a nice round number for certain cast members to call it quits. Colin Jost, Michael Che, Heidi Gardner, Bowen Yang, and more have all heard their names in rumors about who was done with Saturday Night Live when season 50 wrapped in May.
However, nobody has official departed the show. That includes Mikey Day, who recently gave an interviewing suggesting SNL fans don't have to worry about him anytime soon.
“I want to work there for as long as I can,” Day said in an interview with Variety. “I want to work there until it’s sad.”
Day has been with Saturday Night Live since 2013 when he joined as a writer.

To date, Jeff Probst (Survivor), Jane Lynch (Hollywood Game Night), and RuPaul Charles (RuPaul's Drag Race) are the only people to win the Best Reality Host Emmy at least twice in a row. But a fourth contender could soon be joining their esteemed list.
Alan Cumming (The Traitors) is the clear frontrunner in Gold Derby's predictions to claim his second consecutive host trophy. He also won as a producer last year when The Traitors prevailed for Best Competition Program. Cumming plays a heightened version of himself on Peacock's reality TV show, someone who oozes camp and gets excited every time a murder takes place inside his luxurious Scottish castle. Could The Traitors exist in a world without Cumming? Yes. But it wouldn't be nearly as fun. In addition to his two Emmys, the performer is also a double Tony winner for Cabaret and A Strange Loop.

As much excellence as we see onscreen on “Saturday Night Live,” which just wrapped its historic 50th season, some of the best stories from the cast and crew, that illuminate how much work goes into making the weekly late night staple, are about the sketches or parts of sketches that got cut.
Take the viral “Maybelline” sketch for example, with a trio of performers including host Ariana Grande doing their best Jennifer Coolidge impression. During a Usg University Panel featuring Hair Department Head Jodi Mancuso, Makeup Department Head Louie Zakarian, and cast member Chloe Fineman “Saturday Night Live” director Liz Patrick revealed that there was supposed to be a fourth Jennifer Coolidge in the scene. “Sarah [Sherman] was in there also,” she said, describing the first draft of “Maybelline” she’d read. “I was like, ‘Oh my god. How are we gonna do four people?’ But I was open and ready for the challenge.

Ask most anybody who’s ever worked at Saturday Night Live to describe their experience and you’ll hear the most harrowing responses … uttered in the most affectionate tones.
“SNL is built on Add, procrastination and people who can really focus at the very end of the day — it’s also a psychological torture chamber,” says Dana Carvey, castmember from 1986 to 1993.
Such animated takes aren’t just reserved for the on-air talent. “There’s the very familiar diarrhea cramps of which many have spoken about,” says Paula Pell, a writer from 1995 to 2013. “You get the cortisol back when you’re there, like somebody gave you 18 niacin pills and you’re just flushing in hot panic. But it’s exhilarating.”

In a wide-ranging interview with Variety, “Saturday Night Live” writer/performer Mikey Day discussed the viral “Beavis and Butt-head” sketch that left him, host Ryan Gosling, the cast, and the audience in stitches. The April 2024 episode was watched by 8.9 million viewers, while the YouTube video has logged over 23 million views in the 14 months since it aired. The sketch, though, almost didn’t happen at all. It had been scrapped for two previous hosts, Jonah Hill way back in 2018 and Oscar Isaac in 2022, Day revealed.
“We were all going to give up on it,” Day said, but added that Gosling “changes our lives every time he hosts.”

Following Ryan Gosling’s every hilarious hosting stint on Saturday Night Live, the staff wonders if the prolific film superstar knows how much he lights up their lives. I’m sure he’s heard rumblings.
On April 13, 2024, a special Saturday Night Live sketch aired that fulfilled a years-long dream for long-time cast member Mikey Day and his writing partner, fellow SNL veteran Streeter Seidell. After the duo spent as many as five years of tinkering with a delightfully dumb sketch idea about a couple of guys who unwittingly bear perfect resemblance to a couple of cackling cartoon characters, SNL's “Beavis and Butt-Head” was a smashing success, and the cultural footprint of the sketch was even larger than the Emmy-winning prosthetics attached to Day and his scene partner Gosling.

“Saturday Night Live” cast member Heidi Gardner loves a physical comedy bit. The “SNL” veteran has made a habit of going big on camera to hilarious results, from Weekend Update bits as characters whose physical ticks are their personalities (e.g. The Co-Worker Who’s Extremely Busy Doing Seemingly Nothing on Returning to the Office) to go-for-broke bits that often times result in a literal mess on the “SNL” stage.
Case in point: “Mile High Burger Challenge.” The Season 50 sketch follows a group of siblings discussing their ailing father over lunch, but things take a turn when Gardner’s character decides to tackle an eating challenge – finish a 95 oz. burger and jumbo shake in under 10 minutes. As Bowen Yang and Mikey Day discuss the dire circumstance of their father, Gardner absolutely plows through an enormous cheeseburger, egged on by host Nate Bargatze.

“SNL” fans know Mikey Day as the guy who turns up in a bunch of sketches every week, maybe as the father who gets into traffic arguments that require lots of hand gestures and signs or in a longstanding impression of Donald Trump Jr.
Behind the camera, however, Day is increasingly known as someone who can help everyone from Kate McKinnon to Tom Hanks go viral — even if the average viewer of the long-running comedy showcase has no idea of his unique abilities.
Without Day and his writing partner, Streeter Seidell, there would be no David S. Just For Laughs has rounded out its 2025 Gala host lineup with the addition of Roy Wood Jr. and Mikey Day, who will join previously announced hosts Michelle Buteau and Fortune Feimster for the festival’s marquee events running July 25-26 in Montreal.

“Saturday Night Live”‘s longest-running cast member Kenan Thompson hinted that the Season 50 finale felt like an end of an era, and could portend some significant exits ahead of Season 51.
The sketch comedy series celebrated a milestone of 50 seasons of iconic characters, sketches and more since it first aired in 1975. But the “SNL” veteran said it felt especially “bittersweet.”
“Especially this year where it feels like there’s maybe, possibly, a lot of change next year,” he told Page Six Saturday.
The comedy show typically makes decisions on its new and returning cast members in the summer before the series returns to its late night slot in the fall. So far, no cast departure announcements have been made.
“You want everyone to stay forever, knowing that people may be making decisions this summer…it’s always like you want your kids to stay young,” the “All That” alum explained.

Does Lorne Michaels have a comedian hierarchy at Saturday Night Live?
Some weeks, it sure feels that way. Bowen Yang appears to have grabbed the belt as the show’s resident star of the moment. Sarah Sherman gets a huge spotlight. Kenan Thompson is the old reliable, James Austin Johnson is guaranteed his Trump sketch week after week, and Michaels seems to have anointed Marcello Hernández as the show’s Next Big Thing.
So, which one of those cast members appeared in the most sketches in SNL’s 50th season? The answer: None of the above. The comedian who actually appeared in the most sketches was… Andrew Dismukes?

You heard me. Dismukes was your leader in the clubhouse with 79 sketches, according to Saturday Night Network, as reported by LateNighter. The runner-up was another cast member not listed above, Heidi Gardner, who appeared in 77 sketches.

Saturday Night Live's milestone 50th season ended last week, but the laughs are still coming ... in the form of bloopers
NBC has released a full three minutes of hilarious oopsie-daisies and cast members breaking from the 2024-25 season of SNL. The collection includes moments from live shows, pretaped videos, dress rehearsals, and stage promos.
The video opens with Ego Nwodim as her "Miss Eggy" stand-up comedian persona reacting in shock when the audience shouts "Sh-t!" after she asks, "Cause these men ain't what?" The audio was later cut to avoid an FCC fine, but viewers can still watch Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che cracking up in the background. "Lorne gonna be mad at y'all," Nwodim said in reference to showrunner Lorne Michaels.
More gut-busting SNL Season 50 bloopers include the following:

Now that Season 50 of Saturday Night Live is in the books, fans can turn their full attention to the show’s equivalent of a sports off-season. How is Lorne “I’m Not Leaving” Michaels going to build his roster as SNL begins its second half-century? Predicting who might be added to the show is an impossible task, but guessing who could be a roster cut is a betting game anyone can play.
Here are my odds for the likeliest cast members to be looking for work before SNL Season 51…
Devon Walker: -120
It must have been a bittersweet year for the likable Walker, getting promoted to the repertory cast only to find himself consistently receiving less screentime than any other comic, according to the numbers compiled by SNL statmaster Mike Murray. Like Punkie Johnson last season, Walker’s inability to show up in sketches makes his exit seem inevitable.

There were jokes about cast member Sarah Sherman leaving and Weekend Update‘s Colin Jost replacing Saturday Night Live boss Lorne Michaels, there were long hugs during the curtain call but no real indications of the changes to come during the Season 50 finale of the venerable NBC sketch comedy series.
And changes are likely to come with a 17-member cast that features six veterans who have been on the show for seven or more seasons: Jost, Michael Che, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim as well as Kenan Thompson, the longest-tenured SNL cast member in history at 22 years.
Saturday Night Live stopped giving longtime cast members sendoffs in the season finale like the star-studded goodbye Kristen Wiig received in May 2012 after seven years on the show. There were flowers during tonight’s curtain call, but they were from Jost to the finale’s host, his wife Scarlett Johansson.
Of the current longtimers, only Che has said publicly that they would be leaving after this season, but it was during a stand-up performance, and he has also said that in the past. He didn’t give any hints of a pending exit in tonight’s closer.
Several other veteran SNL cast members have alluded in interviews and social media posts that they may leave but there were no signs of that in the finale either, like the way Kate McKinnon got choked up in her final episode.

It was largely business as usual. And, surprisingly, it was one of the busiest current cast members from the more recent SNL additions, Sarah Sherman, who was called out by Johansson in her opening monologue.
“It’s been a great season / and Sarah is leaving / we’re all gonna miss you next year,” Johansson sang, to which shocked Sherman responded, “Wait, what? Did you guys hear something? What do you mean leaving?”
It was a joke; Sherman likely was picked because she is not a departure suspect. During the curtain call at the end of the episode, Sherman was one of two cast members Bowen Yang was seen giving lengthy embraces to, along with Nwodim. While he has been an SNL cast member for six seasons, Yang has been on the show for seven, having started as a writer. And he has seen his feature career explode, opening new opportunities for one of SNL‘s MVPs.
The finale also addressed wide spread speculation that Jost is among the top contenders to succeed Michaels at the helm of SNL when he retires. Michaels had suggested that would leave after the show’s milestone 50th anniversary but subsequently walked that back, saying that there was “no immediate plan” for him to step down.

In the latest edition of Weekend Update‘s infamous — and hugely popular — semi-annual Joke Swap between Che and Jost, the latter had to open with this line he was made to read:
“It’s SNL‘s 50th season, so I want to take a moment to say something to our boss, Lorne Michaels. Lorne, retire b*tch! Let me run the show.”
Jost had to revisit the subject at the end of the segment when he was prompted to put on red lipstick before saying another line written for him by Che, “Lorne, I’ll do anything to run this show.”
Later, during the curtain call, Jost’s wife, Johansson, gave Michaels a shoutout, congratulating him on SNL‘s 50-year run. “You are a singular man, we love you and thank you,” she said.
It is unclear when we will get news on departing SNL cast members. Traditionally, veterans who decide to leave make the announcement in the weeks following the season finale. After taking some time off, Michaels gets back to it by July, with decisions who would not be asked back usually made in August-early September.

Scarlett Johansson combined two tried-and-true SNL monologue traditions Saturday night, performing a song (a laugh-starved parody of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man”) and taking questions from the audience.
The song did have one interesting curveball when Johansson belted out this lyric:
It’s been a great season
And Sarah is leaving
We’re all going to miss you next year
“Wait, what?” Sherman protested. “Did you guys hear something? What Do You Mean, Leaving?”
The announcement is almost certainly a joke — after her fake cries of protest, Sherman flashed a big goofy grin and joined back in for the sing-along. But SNL fans on Twitter weren’t so sure it was a gag.
Why even make the joke? It’s likely Johansson’s wink to all of the online rumors about other cast members on the way out, most prominently her husband, Colin Jost, and his Weekend Update co-anchor, Michael Che.

As Saturday Night Live closes out its 50th season, who better to host the finale than Scarlett Johansson? The two-time Oscar nominee (Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit) is no stranger to Studio 8H: in addition to hosting six previous times, she's also married to Weekend Update host Colin Jost, making it easier for her to pop up for some surprise cameos here and there.
This year on the film circuit, Johansson is reuniting with Asteroid City director Wes Anderson for The Phoenician Scheme, and she's also starring in the upcoming Jurassic World: Rebirth. Here are the best moments from Johansson's latest SNL hosting gig, from the opening monologue to the best sketches.

Scarlett Johansson and the cast of Saturday Night Live paid tribute to the show’s 50th season with a musical opening monologue that riffed on Billy Joel’s classic hit “Piano Man.”
Back for her seventh time hosting, the Jurassic World Rebirth star kicked off the night by proclaiming how “excited” she was “to be hosting the finale of season 50.”
“I’m so proud to be a part of it.” she said. “You know, I first hosted the show when I was 21 years old, so it’s crazy to be back here, what, like 3 years later. Man, time really flies.” After that, she launched into song.
“It’s 11:30 on a Saturday, finale of season 50,” she sang. “It’s chaotic and crazy, the whole week is hazy, but there’s no place I’d rather be.”
Johansson started the monologue solo before she was slowly joined by more of the show’s cast members,...

It has been 50 years of SNL entertaining viewers, filled with live sketches, celebrity jokes, and famous cold opens. Now that Saturday Night Live is heading into its 51st season, it might be that time again when they go through some massive shake-ups. The 50th anniversary was a big deal, and it was filled with jokes, laughs, and celebrations. And now, with the spotlight fading from the celebrations, the big question looms: who is sticking around and who is set to leave?
Rumors are swirling around 30 Rock that a few big names could be stepping away. Honestly, it won’t be the first time SNL has hit the reset button on its crew. We have gone from the golden days of Dan Aykroyd and Gilda Radner to today’s stars like Bowen Yang and Michael Che. The cast has always been rotating and scouting new talent. Sarah Sherman is giving her side of the Aimee Lou Wood “Saturday Night Live” beef.
Back in April, “SNL” aired a parody of “The White Lotus” featuring Sherman as an extremely unflattering caricature of Wood’s character, Chelsea. In a recent sit-down with Vanity Fair, Sherman says the sketch was not made with any ill intention.
“I was excited to play her because she’s so iconic, her character is so iconic,” Sherman said. “I fucking obviously never meant to hurt anyone’s feelings. Never in a million years did I get into comedy to make anyone upset. I feel terrible that anyone would feel bad.”
The sketch in question, titled “The White Potus,” was a pre-taped segment targeted mostly at Donald Trump and his inner circle of constituents. It starred James Austin Johnson as the President, Chloe Fineman as Melania Trump, Mikey Day as Donald Trump Jr. and Jon Hamm...

Walton Goggins is having a pretty phenomenal year. His much-talked about turn on “The White Lotus” has garnered him affection and disgust in equal measure, with many women around the world left wondering if they might’ve been the one to “fix him.” He also closed out a legendary four-season run as Baby Billy Freeman on “The Righteous Gemstones,” forever making “Teenjus” part of the common vernacular. Now, ahead of Emmy’s voting commencing next month, Goggins took on the penultimate episode of “SNL 50,” a special moment for him considering it was the annual Mother’s Day show as well.
To celebrate this, Goggins had his own mother join him on stage for a unique dance. After explaining how she raised him as a single parent with the assistance of his aunts and other friends, Goggins honored his mother by offering his hand and bringing her up before the audience.

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update had its fun with the headlines this week, including the naming of the new sovereign of the Vatican City State, Pope Leo Xiv, the first American in the role.

SNL has a long history of sketches featuring skeezy waiters. The best example is probably Dana Carvey making sweet love to Kirstie Alley’s face in the Il Cantore sketch back in 1991. Alley deserved combat pay for the lashing she took from Carvey’s overly amorous tongue.
Host Walter Goggins, shirt unbuttoned to his navel, took on the role of the horny waiter this week. His Albee is looking for love on Mother’s Day, doing his best to romance two moms out for brunch with their adult sons. His flirtation isn’t exactly subtle — here are eight of Albee’s horniest jokes:
1 ”You’re Getting a Big Tip, Mister!”
After Sarah Sherman’s mom character promises him a good tip, Albee assures her, “No need. I already got one.”
2 Mother Lover
“I’ve always been attracted to mothers,” Albee assures the older ladies. “Perhaps it’s because my own mother was such an angel.

With The White Lotus, The Righteous Gemstones, and now Saturday Night Live, Walton Goggins has been taking up a lot of time on the airwaves. The two-time Emmy nominee (for Justified and Fallout) made his hosting debut May 10 on the long-running sketch series. Considering he's got a healthy amount of Emmy buzz this year for his performance on The White Lotus, adding another bid for SNL couldn't hurt. Saturday Night Live is coming to the end of a rather momentous season, one which included its 50th anniversary that was as star-studded as anyone could have expected.
But as the cast of the long-running NBC comedy start to prepare for the season finale on May 17, hosted by Scarlett Johansson, the rumor mill has been heating up regarding which of the cast might leave the show this summer.
Ego Nwodim, who joined the cast in 2018 for Season 44, told Deadline recently season 50 felt like “building up to a wedding”. But as a recent study highlighted, the more one spends on a wedding, the more likely the chance of divorce.
Many observers expect there to be some departures after Season 50 but few expect a full exodus, similar to the one that happened three years ago at the end of season 47, which saw the exit of eight people including Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson,...

Colin Jost still has a Staten Island ferry boat to sell. On the most recent episode of “Saturday Night Live,” the “Weekend Update” anchor starred in a sketch in which he attempted to sell the boat — which he bought with Pete Davidson in 2022 — to Mikey Day and Chloe Fineman.
The sketch, called “Ferry Altercation,” starred the trio as well as host Quinta Brunson. Day and Brunson played two angry drivers who enter into a verbal altercation while trying to park on the ferry, and Fineman played Day’s daughter.
Jost makes his appearance after an exasperated Day complained he typically “loves the ferry.” Jost then showed up at the passenger side of Day and Fineman’s car. “Hey!” he said. “ou said you love ferries? If you love ferries, would you like to buy one?”
A surprised Fineman asked, “Is that Colin Jost?” to which Day answered, “Yes, that’s Colin Jost.

Traveling through time sounds like an excellent adventure ... until you remember that deodorant wasn't invented until the end of the 19th century and "splinter-free" toilet paper didn't enter the market until 1935. Between these and other historical inconveniences, time travel has the potential to be a pretty bogus journey.
On the flip side of that, our present time -- as miserable as it might sometimes feel to those of us who live here -- would probably look quite bodacious to time-travelers from the past. That's certainly the case for abolitionists Harriet Tubman (returning guest host Quinta Brunson) and Frederick Douglass (Kenan Thompson) in a sketch from this week's episode of "Saturday Night Live." After partaking in a radical experience with '80s teens Will (Marcello Hernández) and Todd (Andrew Dismukes), Harriet and Frederick politely decline the offer of a return ride to the "1-800s."
Check out the sketch above, co-starring Emil Wakim as Julius Caesar,...

After former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick sat down for an uncomfortable CBS News Sunday Morning interview and refused to reveal how he met much-younger girlfriend Jordon Hudson, Saturday Night Live riffed on the couple’s 49-year age gap. In the cold open of Saturday’s SNL episode, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller (played by Mikey Day) gets President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) to sign an executive order making it “socially acceptable for a man in his 70s to date a 24-year-old.” Putting pen to paper, Johnson’s Trump responds, “That’s right. We’re calling it the Belichick Law. We’re going to make girlfriends young again. Old men can now date far younger women. We like that. It’s hot! But in reverse, it’s quite disgusting, right? Very Dateline.” In an interview that aired on CBS News Sunday Morning last weekend, 24-year-old...

Now that Abbott Elementary has wrapped its fourth season, Quinta Brunson has taken a break from teaching to host Saturday Night Live. It's her first time headlining the sketch-comedy series since 2023, when she made her debut on the Studio 8H stage. Brunson, who has won Emmys for writing and acting in Abbott Elementary, earned a Best Comedy Guest Actress nomination for her last SNL hosting gig, so the sky's the limit as to how many bids she'll earn this year. Here are the best moments from Brunson's most recent hosting gig, from the opening monologue to the best sketches.

As per usual, Saturday Night Live opened with a recount of the week in politics, with President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) celebrating his first 100 days in office. "It's been 100 years since I became President," Trump said. "Excuse me, days. Feels longer." He was joined by his Nosferatu-esque policy advisor,...

Saturday Night Live opened strong with a hilarious sketch spoofing Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, the 1989 film starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as time-traveling teens to meet historical figures to help them ace an exam.
In Will & Todd’s Radical Experience, Marcel Hernandez and Andrew Dismukes bring to life the titular duo on a similar mission to Bill & Ted, who return to present day with Julius Caesar (Emil Wakim), Queen Elizabeth (Chloe Fineman), Leonardo da Vinci (Mikey Day), Harriet Tubman, and Frederick Douglass (Kenan Thompson).
Only when it was time for the group to return to their respective times did Tubman and Douglass declare their intentions; they planned to stay put in the present. Will and Todd nervously explained to the pair that history would suffer if they refused.
“Without the two of you, who would end slavery?” asked Todd.
“Lots of people are working on that,...

Colin Jost left his ‘Weekend Update‘ post to poke fun at his ongoing side venture with Pete Davidson.
On this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, the comedian made a rare sketch appearance to try and offload the pair’s decommissioned Staten Island ferry, which they infamously purchased for $280,100 in 2022.
The cameo came at the end of a recurring sketch in which Mikey Day plays a man who gets cut off in traffic while driving with his daughter, played by Chloe Fineman, exchanging vulgar insults and very literal hand gestures with host Quinta Brunson on a ferry.
“This ticks me off too, ’cause I usually love the ferry,” says Day after conceding to Brunson, which cues Jost to pop up at Fineman’s window.
Jost shouts, “Hey! You said you love ferries? If you love ferries, would you like to buy one?”
“Oh my god, is that Colin Jost?” asks Fineman,...

Saturday Night Live‘s Donald Trump signed a host of new executive orders about pet issues like The New York Times‘ Connection word game and baby boomer Bill Belichick’s relationship with a woman born during the George W. Bush administration.
Trump (James Austin Johnson), who signed more executive orders in his first 100 days than any other president in modern history, was first handed one by ghoulish aide Stephen Miller (Mikey Day) about “bringing back” Columbus Day–even though it has been on the books since 1937.

Sabrina Carpenter made a surprise cameo during Quinta Brunson’s Saturday Night Live monologue, during which they performed a song all about honoring short people.
Brunson began her SNL monologue by noting its her second time hosting the beloved show, before making a joke about being “proof you can do anything you put your mind to even if people look down on you.”
“Whether it’s because of where you come from or literally because you’re only 4’11,” she joked. “Yeah, that’s right. I’m short… But I love being short, and I want other short people to know the sky’s the limit. So shorties, tonight, this one’s for us!”
The host then launched into a song about her height: “Being short is amazing, being short is just fine. I’m a cheap date cause I get wasted off of one glass of wine.”
