Jules Verne’s The Mysterious Island (2012)
Directed by Mark Sheppard

Written by Cameron Larson, (loosely) based on the book by Jules Verne

Featuring Gina Holden, Lochlyn Munro, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Susie Abromeit, Mark Sheppard, J. D. Evermore, Edrick Browne, Caleb Michaelson and William Morgan Sheppard

But blame this one on the Syfy channel, as The Asylum wasn’t involved with this 2010 production. And that’s unfortunate, as this movie lacks any sense of fun or campy humor.

Most genre fans know how the film starts out. During The Civil War, as a group of Union prisoners, along with a reporter and a Confederate deserter, escape from their captors in a hot air balloon. A Confederate soldier, attempting to stop them, is pulled...

Cummings Farm | Review
Director: Andrew Drazek Writer(s): Ted Beck Starring: Laura Silverman, Yasmine Kittles, Jordan Kessler, Aimee-Lynn Chadwick, Adam Busch, Edrick Browne, Ted Beck What better place to meet for a first orgy amongst friends than Cummings Farm, right? It is as if the place was named not to be a strawberry farm at all, but specifically for orgies… We first meet a young Jewish couple, Yasmine (Yasmine Kittles) and Alan (Adam Busch), as they bicker about which wine would be better suited for the orgy: Beaver or Platypus? (The sexual innuendoes abound in Cummings Farm.) Their sexual relationship has been on the rocks, and Yasmine hopes that this orgy is going to kick-start their sex life again. Nine Dead: Movie Stills, and Poster
Another horror fan drops me a line on "Nine Dead," starring Melissa Joan, which is moving towards a mid 2009 release date. A trailer is already online at the "Nine Dead," homepage; yet, this feature seems to be taking a line out of the original "Saw," movie play book, with central characters banding together to solve a puzzle and the title, a play on words of the saying, "a cat has nine lives," seems pretty kitschy.

And is the title "Nine Dead," revealing the ending of the film? Have a look at a couple stills of Melissa Joan Hart at her bloody best and the first trailer that has a dark, sinister appeal.

A synopsis for "Nine Dead,...
