ITV is launching its own version of ‘The Apprentice’, in which a property tycoon is looking for a rookie builder to join his empire.
Fred Story – who has made millions from building and selling homes – will oversee a group of 12 young apprentices who will battle it out in the hope of winning the life-changing job.
Like BBC One’s business star Lord Alan Sugar, Fred will give the hopefuls a string of tasks to test their knowledge, skills and determination.
Challenges will include building one of his £250,000 houses on time, on budget and with no mistakes, with just six months to plan the entire project, order construction materials and manage a crew of builders.
An ITV insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “For years people have taken on apprenticeships in roles such as building and carpentry. With tuition fees on the up, it’s a lot harder for people to go to university.
