A celebration of Kobe Bryant‘s athletic career turned into a family affair — after all, it’s not every day that two of your jersey numbers get retired.

The legendary basketball star was flanked by his wife, Vanessa, and their three daughters as the Los Angeles Lakers placed 8 and 24 — both numbers worn by Bryant during his 20-year career — among the previous honorees on the Staples Center wall at Monday night’s ceremony.

Bryant, 39, arrived at the stadium pushing a baby carriage holding 1-year-old Bianka Bella, and shared a special message to his family in his acceptance speech.

Well in 1994, something as unexpected and bizarre as any of those hypotheticals happened. Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, retired and decided to give it a go as a baseball player.

Now, 23 years later, Will Smith will be producing a movie about it.

The Prospect, written by Ben Epstein, was included on 2017's Black List - the list of best unproduced screenplays floating around Hollywood. It didn't have to wait long to find a home.

As I noted last week, Unshaven Comics’ trek to Hotlanta for the annual Dragon Con had me face down several fears all at once. As Unshaven Matt Wright was sidelined due to a babysitting emergency, the biggest fear for me was knowing that our terrific trio was reduced to a dingy duo. Beyond that, there was the continual fear that our little shtick will finally reach the point that it doesn’t garner the excitement we count on to close sales. Add that ennui to the more concrete fear that a ten-hour trip in the car while completing the Whole 30 diet – one that forced me to give up everything but lean protein, fruits and vegetables – would make what is normally a doable drive become something more akin to the trek undertaken by a ragtag fellowship of adventurers trying to ditch a silly ring.

It’s a bizarre scene, kind of funny and kind of pathetic, and thoroughly memorable. If only Aranoa could conjure another scene, even another image quite as surreal.

Darren Aronofsky’s “mother!” is just over one month away from opening in theaters, and finally some of its secrets are starting to be revealed. The official trailer debuted this week, confirming the director has combined the likes of “Black Swan” and “Rosemary’s Baby” to create something horrifying, and now both Aronofsky and Jennifer Lawrence have broken their silence on the movie in a new Vogue cover story.

The first child of Ufc lightweight champion Conor McGregor and his girlfriend Dee Devlin has arrived, McGregor shared on Instagram this weekend.

Irish Mirror reports that Conor Jack McGregor was born on Saturday, May 6, at 8 p.m. at Coombe Maternity Hospital in Dublin, Ireland.
