Steven Spielberg is an award-winning director with many iconic films that changed the industry. However, as iconic as his films were, Spielberg has also been a part of many films from behind the scenes as a producer.
One of the films he produced was 2011's Super 8. The sci-fi hit film has a magical team-up, as it features J.J. Abrams as writer and director, with Spielberg and Star Trek's Bryan Burk as producers. 14 years after its premiere, Super 8 is heading to Peacock on Aug. 1.
Super 8 is about to receive more attention, as the film, despite its positive reception and commercial success, was on the underrated side. Aside from the upcoming release on Peacock, Super 8 will also head to Hulu on Aug. 1, as well. The Kissing Booth franchise might be one of the best examples of what you call the guilty pleasure genre of movies. None of the three films that was released from 2018 to 2021 were able to impress the critics or for that matter, many of its viewers. It would be incomprehensible for these movie-goers as to how the idea of The Kissing Booth 4 gets thrown around so much.
The movies follow friends Elle and Lee, played by Joey King and Joel Courtney, and how their relationship gets affected when Elle falls for Lee’s brother Noah, played by Jacob Elordi.

In the third movie, we saw that Elle decided to chose her own path, independent of Lee and Noah. Fans even got a six-years-later scene, where the fate of Elle and Noah’s relationship was left for the viewers’ imagination.

In the 1978 remake of the 1956 classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers, what would Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, and Jeff Goldblum have done if they had cell phones and cameras recording everything that happened during the pod people's overtaking of planet Earth? The 2019 clever young adult horror film Assimilate examines whether such marauding would take place with today's technology at our disposal. It is a surprisingly taut and fun iteration of one of the genre's most iconic entries and is currently streaming on Prime Video. The film benefits from the excellent chemistry of its three teenage leads, Zach (Joel Courtney), Randy (Calum Worthy), and Kayla (Andi Matichak), who endure the horrifying process of seeing their friends and loved ones become possessed by an alien lifeform. Director John Murlowski's crisp pacing also makes Assimilate a thrilling ride and a creative version of one of horror's most tried and true tropes.

Netflix’s newest romantic comedy, Players, is a subtle 180 of a character from a very popular sitcom. Netflix’s catalog of movies from different genres keeps expanding every week, and among its most recent and successful additions is Players. Directed by Trish Sie and written by Whit Anderson, Players takes viewers to New York City to meet Mack (Gina Rodriguez), a sportswriter who, along with her friends, comes up with elaborate but successful hook-up schemes to help each other get dates and more.
One day, Mack meets Nick (Tom Ellis), a war correspondent and author who she’s very attracted to.

Mack, the sly protagonist of Netflix’s endearing new rom-com Players, always closes. The 33-year-old journalist has a back pocket stuffed with plays that rarely fail. Want to convince the stranger at the bar that you can offer her the world? Or bag your next-door neighbor? Mack and her friends can walk you through the moves, honed over 12 years, to force an interaction.
The plays work well because Mack, Adam (Damon Wayans Jr.), Brannagan (Augustus Prew) and Ryan aka “Little” (Joel Courtney) are committed to research. Establishing a play requires a careful assessment of the target, the situation and the context. The plays can always help you land a steamy bar make-out, a one-night stand or maybe even a date. What they can’t do, Mack learns, is get you into a relationship.
Players, directed by Trish Sie, is the kind of romantic comedy that wears the conventions of its genre proudly.

Players fails to critique dating culture, instead celebrating and glamorizing shallow hook-up schemes. The film lacks depth and realistic characterizations, focusing on unfunny humor rather than quality storytelling. Despite the efforts of the talented cast, Players is a forgettable rom-com that disappoints with its rushed and undeserved ending.
It’s Valentine’s Day Week, and there are plenty of old and new rom-coms to look forward to, with Netflix also releasing its latest romantic comedy, Players, starring Jane the Virgin's Gina Rodriguez. Written by Whit Anderson and directed by Trish Sie, the story sees Mack (Rodriguez), an outgoing sports reporter, who develops schemes to land one-night stands. When she starts falling in love with her latest play, Mack intends to turn her latest interest into a long-term relationship. As far as rom-coms go, Players barks up a creative tree, but this story is about as trashy as they come.

Many romantic comedies utilize deception as a key plot point. However, for every film that incorporates an inciting fib with smarts and heart (from “While You Were Sleeping” to “You’ve Got Mail”), there are others that lack a similar savvy finesse (like “How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days” and “The Wedding Date”). “Players” competes in the latter league. Acting as a dumbed-down, gender-swapped kissing cousin to “Hitch,” it centers on a gal and her pals who know all the right moves to land hookups. Director Trish Sie’s middling and at times mawkish film not only makes us hate the game, but also its players.

Released by a train crash, a mysterious creature rampages through a small Ohio town. The military is on its trail, the local authorities are overwhelmed, and a group of local kids… who planned to spend their summer making a zombie movie… take it upon themselves to figure out what’s going on. That’s the set-up for director J.J. Abrams’ 2011 film Super 8 (watch it Here) – and it’s time for it to be Revisited.
Like many aspiring filmmakers, J.J. Abrams started making movies at a young age, casting his friends and shooting on Super 8 film. Newspaper coverage of that festival caught the attention of one of Abrams’ heroes, another director who had gotten started making Super 8 movies when he was young: Steven Spielberg. "It was never about the plays, it was about being with the people who 'get' you." Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a raunchy New York City romantic comedy film called Players, the latest from filmmaker Trish Sie. This is indeed about the "player" culture of super hot hookups and one-night-stands, where a woman helps guys with "plays" until he realizes he wants more than just one-night-stands. Of course, this is the same story they've been telling for decades. New York sportswriter Mack has spent years devising successful hook-up "plays" with her friends, but when she unexpectedly falls for one of her high society targets, she must learn what it takes to go from simply scoring to "playing for keeps." What a pitch. Gina Rodriguez stars as Mack, along with Damon Wayans Jr., Joel Courtney, Augustus Prew, Liza Koshy, Ego Nwodim, Marin Hinkle, and Tom Ellis. This is the...

J.J. Abrams' career has been negatively impacted by his struggles with Star Wars and DC. Despite his achievements in major franchises and TV hits, Abrams' capabilities as a leader were questioned due to creative changes in Star Wars. Abrams should focus on more original stories like his successful sci-fi movie Super 8, which showcased his talent and should serve as a blueprint for future projects.
J.J. Abrams' time linked to Star Wars and DC properties may have gone poorly, but the filmmaker has a sci-fi movie from 2011 that could serve as a blueprint for future successes. Despite being around since the '90s, Abrams didn't make his directorial debut until 2006, when he was at the helm of Mission: Impossible III. His biggest success as a director came with his next project, 2009's Star Trek, which also remains his most well-received movie with him in the director's chair. Even...

The surprise indie box office hit Jesus Revolution is one heck of a true story. It sees the real-life "Jesus freak" movement through the eyes of youth minister Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney). The Jesus movement of the late 1960s and 1970s was primarily based in California. It essentially tried to blend some of the beliefs and practices of the hippie counterculture with Evangelicalism.

Actor Jacob Elordi doesn’t look back fondly on the experience of working on ‘The Kissing Booth’ trilogy despite the trilogy launching his career. Jacob, 26, reflected on his 2018 breakout role in the first film of the teen romance trilogy for GQ’s Men of the Year issue, reports People magazine.
The actor said: “I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies. Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape”.
The films were adapted from Beth Reekles’ 2012 novel of the same name.
As per People, he played bad boy football star Noah Flynn in the films, the love interest of leading lady Elle Evans (Joey King) and older brother of her best friend, Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney).
‘The Kissing Booth’ marked one of Jacob’s first films, but after signing on for the two sequels, the Australian actor felt dissatisfied to say the least.

Casting Link for the live-action Legend of Zelda movie will be challenging due to his lack of dialogue and the diverse interpretations by players. Actors like Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Aidan Kennedy, and Joel Courtney could bring different aspects of Link's personality to the role. Actors such as Justice Smith, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Julian Crouser, Aoi Takeya, Dallas Dupree Young, Michael Provost, Griffin Gluck, Brigette Lundy-Paine, and Zackary Arthur have the potential to portray different versions of Link based on their looks, skills, and previous roles.
A live-action Legend of Zelda movie has finally been confirmed, which means a talented actor will need to be chosen to play Link. The Hero of Time will be an extremely challenging character to cast since he has no dialogue in the many Zelda video games. This makes his personality difficult to define, with every player projecting their own ideas onto Link from game to game.
