Timothée Chalamet Offers Surprising Choice for Next Biopic Role He Wants After A Complete Unknown
Image
While promoting his new film, A Complete Unknown, in which he plays iconic singer/songwriter Bob Dylan, Timothée Chalamet revealed who else he may like to portray one day. Chalamet appeared on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up, and per Deadline, said he wouldn’t mind playing an Emmy-winning sports broadcaster in the future.

“What about the Ernie Johnson biopic, the host of Inside the NBA?" suggested the Wonka actor, referring to the 68-year-old host of TNT’s long-running basketball program, Inside the NBA, which seemed like an interesting pick if he was serious about it since at 28 years old, Chalamet is 40 years younger than Johnson.

Who is Ernie Johnson?

Johnson has won six Emmys for his work in sports broadcasting and is a member of the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and is known as “The Godfather” by his co-hosts Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith.

Timothée Chalamet Reveals Unorthodox Pick When Asked About His Ideal Next Role
Image
Timothée Chalamet is in no danger of being typecast.

Asked on SiriusXM’s The Morning Mash Up who would he like to play if he were to do another biopic, the actor, who plays Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, went deep with his answer on the sports-themed show.

Chalamet didn’t choose a legendary underdog like U.S. Olympic Hockey captain Mike Eruzione. He didn’t choose a colorful insider a la Ted Lasso. The 28-year-old didn’t even choose someone close to his own age.

“What about the Ernie Johnson biopic, the host of Inside the NBA?”

Johnson, for those who don’t know, is the 68-year-old longtime host of TNT’s Emmy-winning talker. Known more for colorful his bow ties and gentle demeanor than his cool factor, Johnson is nevertheless a very thoughtful choice, whether Chalamet was serious about it or not.

Timothée Chalamet Admits Prewriting Acceptance Speeches for Awards He Lost Made Him Feel Like a ‘Narcissistic Prick’ | Video
Image
While celebrating his fourth Golden Globe nomination, Timothée Chalamet admitted that writing acceptance speeches ahead of time made him feel like a “narcissistic prick.”

The actor, who is again nominated for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in the biopic “A Complete Unknown,” told SiriusXM host Nicole Ryan, “There’s nothing more uniquely hilarious and something you cannot share with anyone when you get home and you tear up the little thing that you never had to use and you think to yourself, ‘You narcissistic prick.’ On what planet did you think you were gonna use this?”

Chalamet previously earned Golden Globe nominations for his performances in “Wonka,” “Beautiful Boy” and “Call Me By Your Name,” none of which he won (he also received an Oscar nomination for the Luca Guadagnino movie).

Chalamet then asked Ryan and co-hosts Ryan Sampson and Stanley T if he could “say whatever I want” on the satellite radio station,...

The Most Underrated British TV Shows of All Time, Ranked
Image
British TV shows have gained audiences from around the world. Some have been given adaptations, while others are good enough to be left as they are for those across the pond and beyond. The variety provided is enough to suit almost everyone's taste, whether that's rooted in comedy or drama.

With so much to choose from, it's unsurprising that a few shows slip under the radar. Sometimes, they don't make it quite as big as other programs, even though they're as good as any other. Even though they may have gained some positive recognition, there are a few series that deserve to be at the top of TV buffs' lists.

Danny Dyer at an event for Severance (2006)
Mr Bigstuff | Ryan Sampson and Danny Dyer sitcom renewed for second series
Danny Dyer at an event for Severance (2006)
Danny Dyer stars alongside creator and writer Ryan Sampson in Mr Bigstuff, which has now been recommissioned for a second series.

Danny Dyer may be better known these days as Mick Carter in EastEnders, but before that, he’d been a steady presence in British film for over two decades, from his debut in Justin Kerrigan’s Human Traffic through The Football Factory and Severance.

The one thing Dyer had never done was lead a sitcom – until now. Mr Bigstuff is created and written by Ryan Sampson, who’s perhaps best known for starring alongside Nicholas Lyndhurst and Celia Imrie in BBC sitcom After You’ve Gone, and for co-starring in ITV2 sitcom Plebs.

The synopsis for Mr Bigstuff reads as follows:

Mr Bigstuff explores broken families, fragile masculinity and carpet sales. It tells the story of two estranged brothers; Glen (Ryan Sampson), a nervy perfectionist striving to live the suburban...

Mr Bigstuff Review: Danny Dyer Steals the Show, But Is It Enough?
Image
Danny Dyer returns to our screens in the new Sky comedy series Mr. Bigstuff, playing mischievous troublemaker Lee Campbell. Lee suddenly reemerges in the life of his straight-laced brother Glen, played by creator Ryan Sampson, dropping his trademark chaos into the quiet suburban routine Glen has settled into.

Living with fiancée Kirsty and working at the local carpet shop, Glen’s world is turned upside down by the arrival of his long-estranged sibling. Lee seems to live by his own unpredictable code, gallivanting around in outlandish outfits one moment and picking fights with strangers the next. His motivations for seeking out Glen are initially unclear.

Across six half-hour episodes, the show follows the odd couple brothers as their personalities clash and lives collide in comedic fashion. Dyer leans into his rule-breaking reputation to play Lee as an unapologetic livewire, a stark contrast to Glen’s predictable nine-to-five existence. The chemistry...

Danny Dyer and Ryan Sampson on new comedy series Mr. Bigstuff, accents – and leaving Eastenders behind
Danny Dyer at an event for Severance (2006)
Danny Dyer is a national treasure, with his own unique sensibilities as a performer – so it’s no surprise that Ryan Sampson wrote this role, in new comedy show Mr. Bigstuff, just for him. To mark the show’s launch – which is available on Sky Max and streaming service Now from July 17 – we had the pleasure in sitting down with the duo, who play brothers in this entertaining and thrilling new series.

Sampson talks about setting his comedic tone and on writing the role of his older brother for Dyer, while the actor speaks to the brilliance of the script and how pleased he is when scripts of this nature come his way. We then discuss him leaving Eastenders and how that has opened his career up again – and we can’t help but ask about the challenges in not swearing on the soap-opera.

The LA Screenings Are Back: Talent Returns & Slates Get International As Buyers Head For Studio Showcases
Image
As buyers touch down at Lax for the annual LA Screenings, it will be a case of a return to the norm following the unusual circumstances of last year. The Hollywood labor strikes not only threw confusion on what would be a realistic purchase, but also stopped acquisitions executives getting face time (and a quick selfie) with acting and writing talent — something many value as part of their buying process.

There will be no such issues this year, and the studio sales bosses are relishing a return to the norm. “We’re really excited, it feels like we’re really back after the strikes and firing on all cylinders,” says David Decker, President of Content Sales for Warner Bros. Discovery (Wbd). “We have an abundance of titles that run the gamut of broadcast and streaming in drama and comedy. We’ll be showing the best of what Wbd stands for.

Danny Dyer at an event for Severance (2006)
Mr Bigstuff | Trailer released for Danny Dyer sitcom
Danny Dyer at an event for Severance (2006)
Danny Dyer stars alongside creator and writer Ryan Sampson in Mr Bigstuff, and here’s the trailer for the new sitcom.

The synopsis, per the British Comedy Guide, reads as follows:

Mr Bigstuff explores broken families, fragile masculinity and carpet sales. It tells the story of two estranged brothers; Glen (Ryan Sampson), a nervy perfectionist striving to live...

Danny Dyer & Ryan Sampson in UK Comedy Series 'Mr. Bigstuff' Trailer
Image
"We don't run from our problems." Sky TV has revealed an official UK trailer for a comedy series titled Mr. Bigstuff, arriving to watch in the UK starting this July (though no US launch yet). The series stars actor Danny Dyer, best known for his various "tough guy" roles like Moff in Human Traffic, Tommy Johnson in The Football Factory, and Mick Carter in Eastenders. When two estranged brothers Glen (Ryan Sampson) and Lee (Danny Dyer) find themselves under one roof in "idyllic" suburbia, their lives start to unravel faster than a cheap carpet. Glen is a nervy perfectionist and carpet salesman striving to live a suburban ideal and Lee is an alpha male with a prescription drug addiction and a tin full of their dad's ashes. Written & created by Ryan Sampson, this "relatable, irreverent comedy about brotherhood, manhood and carpet sales" is set in Essex. Also with Harriet Webb,...

Adam Levine Tells the ‘Morning Mash Up’ That New Maroon 5 Music Is on the Way
Image
Adam Levine joined the “Morning Mash Up” on SiriusXM Hits 1 (Ch. 2) to talk about Maroon 5’s upcoming music plans.

“I would say, of all the times I’ve had to say exactly what I’m about to say about making a music and making a record — we’re definitely making a record, we’re definitely making new music,” Adam revealed. “And the cool thing is that I really, after 12-13 years of doing co-writes, I finally have shut everybody out, and it’s just me and the band making the songs. So there’s no more of that.”

The new record will be the band’s first since Jordi (2021), which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart and included the singles “Memories” and “Beautiful Mistakes.” This year, Maroon 5 continues their “M5LV” Las Vegas residency throughout May, June, September, and October.

“I feel more like the floodgates have kind of just opened again,...

Doctor Who's New Era Must Stop Reliving Rtd's Former Glories
Image
Russell T Davies' second era of Doctor Who seems to be repeating many of the original era's successes, which could be a problem for the show. While Doctor Who is embracing the new era of streaming and has cast an exciting young actor as the Doctor, there are signs that it could be stuck in the past. When he revived Doctor Who, Russell T Davies oversaw the show's most popular era for decades, swiftly dismissing any criticisms of the classic series' wobbly sets and unconvincing monsters. While the show became a global success under Steven Moffat, Doctor Who was rarely as popular in the UK as it was in the mid-to-late 2000s.

It's because of that success that Russell T Davies' return for the 60th anniversary and beyond has been hailed by critics of the recent Chris Chibnall era as Rtd "saving" Doctor Who. Davies' return is definitely something to be celebrated,...

The Frankenstein Chronicles feat. Sean Bean sets up some juicy complications in this week's murky William Blake-themed episode...

London, 1827 – Day

Officer John Marlott and his boss Sir Robert Peel are standing by the capital’s latest crime scene: another mutilated and stitched body has washed up on the bank of the Thames.

Sir Robert Peel

I don’t want any mistakes on this case, Marlott. I’m gonna be watching you so close you’ll think we’ve been stitched together.

Peel stalks away, leaving Marlott gazing into the grey city gloom.

John Marlott

Okay, Sir Robert…

Marlott turns and puts on an era-appropriate hat.

*Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*

Plebs' Ryan Sampson is going to prank you as part of his new ITV2 series Glitchy
Naughty Plebs favourtie Ryan Sampson is going to spend autumn pulling off some crazy pranks for ITV2.

Sampson and an ensemble of rising comedy stars will rope the public into taking part in bizarre (and totally fake) reality shows for the new sketch series Glitchy.

Unsuspecting passers-by on the streets will become the stars of phoney competitions like Britain and Ireland's Next Top Hand Model, Date My Daughter and 24 Hours in a Phone Box - and surely embarrass themselves along the way.

An unlucky few might even have an unwelcome encounter with Memzo, a petty thief-turned-creepy street magician.

"I'm beyond excited that ITV have let us loose, giving our own twisted take on all of our favourite TV shows," Sampson said. "It's going to be brilliant. And weird. And weirdly brilliant!"

His revolving cast of co-conspirators includes Ellie White (House of Fools), Gabby Best (Top Coppers), Colin Hoult (Derek), Mona Yousefi...
