Last year, we learned that the Netflix streaming service had gotten a new film chief in Dan Lin – and one of the first projects Lin greenlit at the streamer is an adaptation of author Ruth Ware’s bestselling 2016 thriller novel The Woman in Cabin 10, which had Keira Knightley attached to star in it as the titular woman. Now, Netflix has announced that the film is set to have its streaming premiere on October 10th – and to start building the hype, they have unveiled a batch of first look images, which can be seen at the bottom of this article.
Simon Stone, who previously directed The Dig for Netflix, directed this film from a screenplay by Snake Eyes writers Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (with Stone handling script revisions himself). Netflix today shared a first look at the psychological thriller film The Woman in Cabin 10, which is set to release globally on the streaming service on Friday, October 10, 2025. The film is based on the 2016 best-selling novel by Ruth Ware.
While on board a luxury yacht for a travel assignment, a journalist witnesses a passenger thrown overboard late at night, only to be told that it didn’t happen, as all passengers and crew are accounted for. Despite no one believing her, she continues to look for answers, putting her own life in danger.
“I’ve said in acknowledgements before that it takes a village to make a book, but what I learned going on set for Cabin 10 is that it takes a whole town to make a film – it’s truly amazing seeing so many people working so hard on something you created,” said Ruth Ware.

Keira Knightley is a certified movie star, whose films grossed over $3.6 billion at the worldwide box office. However, the actress has stayed away from big blockbusters and focused on several roles where she can balance her personal life and professional life.
Because of this, she has found a new partnership with Netflix that helps her achieve both things. Following a successful run with Black Doves, the two teamed up again for a new project. Netflix has just unveiled the first look at The Woman in Cabin 10 during its Next on Netflix event.

Before production had begun on the anticipated film adaptation of Enid Blyton‘s The Magic Faraway Tree, director Ben Gregor worried that he’d put one of his stars, Andrew Garfield, off a little bit.
“We wrote a song for the film and we sent it to Andrew early on,” Gregor explains to The Hollywood Reporter. “And I hadn’t worked with him yet and you don’t know… With actors sometimes, you can put them off.”
But Garfield loved it. The gesture ended up being instrumental in the atmosphere that Gregor later cultivated on set — one of true-heartedness, trust, and that crucial Blyton ingredient: magic. “Everybody was putting themselves out there,” Gregor says.
The project has grabbed headlines in recent months for releasing back-to-back smash hit casting announcements: first came Garfield and Claire Foy (The Crown), then came Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton, Derry Girls) and Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), and...

Domestic thrillers can be deliciously messy, but Magpie, starring the alluring Daisy Ridley in an ambitious and delectable role, takes things to the next level. The psychological thriller is engrossing, its slow-burn buildup feeding the fire that burns brightly in an immensely satisfying final act that is equal parts chilling and petty. Magpie turns certain tropes into narrative weapons, and it works at every turn, culminating in a finale that will leave you wanting more even as it gives us a tension-fueled conclusion.

Before returning to the front row of the mainstream with more Star Wars projects, Daisy Ridley has been on a tear lately with smaller, more interesting films, such as the recent Young Woman and the Sea and her wildly different drama, Sometimes I Think About Dying, before that. Those two showcased her ability to pull off a flawless American accent as is the case with many acclaimed English performers but now she's back to her native voice with Magpie, a gripping neo-noir set in the U.K. that sees her taking names as an embattled wife and mom of two trying to navigate a fractured marriage thanks to a somewhat bonehead husband.
The film is directed by Sam Yates and written by Tom Bateman, Ridley's spouse, and she developed the story of Magpie. It's co-produced by Bateman and Ridley, so you know this is a project she's passionate about.

‘Moonflower Murders’ Team Explains Why the Masterpiece Mystery Is Unlike Anything Else on TV (Video)
Magpie Murders is back with the latest installment, Moonflower Murders. Like the first series, it follows Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville), an editor, solving a real murder mirrored by a mystery in a client’s novel. Pippa Bennett-Warner plays Madeline, a character in the story within a story. “I tried not to think about the play-within-the-plays type thing because what was happening to her was absolutely happening to her,” says Bennett-Warner of playing a fictional character, even within the world of the show. While the real mystery is happening in the present, Bennett-Warner’s character exists in the 1950s. Says Anthony Horowitz, the author of the Magpie Murders book series, “We have a 1950s detective having a relationship with a 21st-century editor…there’s nothing on television that’s quite like it.” Says Bennett-Warner of the period setting, “We’d look at the monitor after some of the takes and it...

"The funny thing... I didn't tell anyone." Shout Studios has revealed an official trailer for Magpie, a neo-noir thriller from director Sam Yates, most known for theater in the UK. This initially premiered at the 2024 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year, and is set for a theatrical release starting in late October this fall. This looks like it gets quite creepy. When Ben and Anette's daughter Matilda is cast in a film alongside glamorous movie star Alicia, relationships are pushed to the brink. "A twisty, wicked thriller." A couple find their lives turned upside-down when their daughter is cast alongside a controversial major star. Magpie stars Daisy Ridley, Shazad Latif, Matilda Lutz, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Hiba Ahmed, Cherrelle Skeete, and Alistair Petrie. This looks like a dark and nefarious thriller about what happens when jealousy and secrets overwhelm people. Described in reviews as an "engrossing" flick with a "slow-burn buildup.

So, in keeping with that spirit of hope we created a list of the 10 best TV shows that were adapted from video games, they can be original stories in the world of video games but they have to be connected to the original IP.

Violent crime drama Gangs of London is back for a third series, the cast has been confirmed.
After revitalising action cinema with the two astonishing martial arts films in The Raid franchise, Gareth Evans turned to television, co-creating Gangs of London with Matt Flannery in 2019.
A sprawling crime saga, the show follows the Wallace family as they grapple to keep control of their criminal empire. And we’ve had two series of it so far, with plenty of memorable moments to talk about.
The show became known for its notoriously violent action scenes, which are as visceral and gory as anything seen in a big screen slasher.
