LA Phil presents the performance as part of its 2025 Latin music concert series, which celebrates the diversity of Latin sounds.
“Playing the Hollywood Bowl is always something special. There’s a magic in the air, a connection with the audience that stays with you,” said Juanes. “Coming back after so many years, with music that tells the story of where I’ve been and where I’m going, feels like a beautiful full circle—especially in a city that has given me so much love.”

Hugh Jackman earned an Oscar nomination for his work as Jean Valjean in “Les Misérables,” but things didn’t go so well decades ago while belting out the musical’s “Stars” when he had to sing for the first time at an audition.
“I read first and I could tell it was going well,” Jackman said Saturday night during a performance of “An Evening With Hugh Jackman” at the Hollywood Bowl. “Then I sang and I cracked on the final note so spectacularly. Like it was the worst crack you could have ever imagined. Whatever excitement was on the panel, it just deflated immediately. I was about to run out, just humiliated.”
“But then the guy goes, ‘Whoa, hold on a second. Why did you sing that song?’” Jackman continued. “I said, ‘It’s the only thing I had music for. I’m sorry.’ And he said, ‘Well, you can throw that away.

Early on, Mexican singer Karina Sofia had a sketch of her album La Reina Del Cañon in her mind: She knew she wanted it to crisscross a narrative of strength and independence, mirroring a journey toward emancipation and self-love she’d experienced herself after a toxic relationship. She’d already put a few demos together, and played them for a music-industry friend who listened and immediately said, “Gustavo Santaolalla has to produce this.”
Karina wasn’t familiar with who Santaolalla was, and it wasn’t until later that she realized...

This article contains spoilers for the premiere of "The Last of Us" season 2.
"The Last of Us" has an interesting approach when it comes to video game adaptations. For the most part, the show plays like a shot-for-shot remake of the video game of the same name directed by Cruce Straley and Neil Druckmann and developed by studio Naughty Dog. Except the series does something unexpected every so often, from dedicating an episode to telling the backstory of a minor character whose nuance most gamers miss, or wholly original prologues that show how the Cordyceps fungal infection started abroad.
When it comes to meta references to the games, "The Last of Us" finds a good balance between winks at the audience and just loving tributes to the people who helped make the game. Take the casting of Ashley Johnson as Ellie's mom, a beautiful cameo that works on many levels...

Hours before música mexicana heartthrob Ivan Cornejo took the stage at Austin’s Acl Live at the Moody Theater, his fans had already begun to hype him up. They showed up in droves — some of them carrying the signature red roses Cornejo tends to give out during his sets — and let out seismic, window-shattering roars whenever images of the 20-year-old singer-songwriter popped up on the Ld screens at the venue. Most of them seemed ready to get into their feelings, something Cornejo always opens up space to do during his performances.

Bad Bunny might make hits, and take on the biggest wrestlers on WWE… but next time, he might draw the line at trying to consume the hottest chicken wings. On Thursday, First We Feast shared the singer’s visit to Hot Ones where the singer failed to make it through to the hottest wing — but made viewers laugh at his antics along the way.
“It’s a problem because they’re so fucking spicy but it’s really good… What do I do? It’s so good!” he said toward the beginning.

Set in 2012 Venezuela, Pimpinero: Blood and Oil builds its story on the gasoline-smuggling surge that emerged from the country’s extremely low fuel prices. The historical period shows a time of financial hardship, where smuggling presented both chances for profit and life-threatening risks.
The raw desert of La Guajira, filled with sand-covered roads and intense heat, creates the background that mirrors the disorder and strain of the characters’ existence. The harsh land reflects the dark world of the pimpineros, where staying alive depends on criminal dealings and brutality.
The film mixes raw reality with high drama, with the desert’s barrenness showing the characters’ ethical decline. The raw images—streams of dust behind racing vehicles or long stretches of empty terrain—place viewers inside an isolated and dangerous space, building the film’s tense atmosphere.

Ariana Grande in “Wicked,” Timothée Chalamet in “A Complete Unknown” and Angelina Jolie in “Maria”: What these performances have in common – besides a strong shot at Oscar nominations – is the man who coached each of their voices to their highest highs: esteemed Los Angeles vocal coach Eric Vetro.
Vetro has been down this award-winning yellow brick road before with singers and actors, particularly through musical biographies. Along with coaching Renée Zellweger to Oscar victory as Judy Garland in “Judy,” and Hugh Jackman to a Tony win as Peter Allen in “The Boy from Oz,” Vetro worked with Austin Butler on his Oscar-nominated turn as “Elvis” and Riley Keough on her Emmy-nommed role in “Daisy Jones & the Six.” Currently, Vetro is coaching Jeremy Allen White for his Bruce Springsteen “Nebraska”-era biopic “Deliver Me from Nowhere” and, beyond that, Kj Apa as Sublime singer Bradley Nowell in a still-unnamed film.

The brutal petrol trade between Venezuela and Colombia in 2012 is the backdrop to Andrés Baiz’s starry if slow-paced tale of brothers navigating the future
It’s called the “caravan of death” – cars speeding, Mad Max-style, across the desert on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, loaded up with jerry cans of petrol. Colombian film-maker Andrés Baiz, who previously worked on episodes of Netflix’s Narcos, has directed this crime saga inspired by the real-life “pimpineros”, smugglers who exploited dirt-cheap petrol during the presidency of Hugo Chávez. But strangely, this film keeps to the speed limit; it’s like Formula One with enhanced health and safety, slow-paced and a little low on adrenaline.
The year is 2012, when sixpence bought a gallon of petrol in oil-rich Venezuela, leading to a boom in cross-border smuggling to Colombia. A trio of brothers, the Estradas, have been muscled out of the smuggling business...

Colombian rock star Juanes, winner of 26 Latin Grammys and three Grammy awards to date, is making his big screen debut in Prime Video drama “Pimpinero: Blood and Oil,” by Andrés Baiz, which bows its trailer exclusively in Variety ahead of its Toronto Film Festival (TIFF) world premiere.
Juanes stars alongside Alberto Guerra, Alejandro Speitzer (“The Head of Joaquin Murrieta”) and Laura Osma (“Goles en contra”) in the dramatic fact-based thriller set along the border of Colombia and Venezuela.
Set to a pounding soundtrack, the trailer shows quick cuts of mounting intensity. The story co-penned by Baiz and Maria Camila Arias (“Birds of Passage”) takes place in the unforgiving desert between these two countries where gasoline smugglers known as “pimpineros” risk their lives transporting illegal fuel across the border. Among them is Juan, the youngest of three brothers deeply involved in this dangerous trade. When he’s coerced into working for a menacing rival,...

Back in 2002, Nelly Furtado and Juanes teamed up for “Fotografía,” a wistful guitar ballad that hit Number One on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Airplay charts. At the time, both artists had rocketed to stardom with their debut albums, Furtado with Whoa Nelly! and Juanes with Fijate Bien. “Fotografía” united two forces from different parts of the industry and put their chemistry front and center, showcasing Furtado singing in Spanish for the first time. It quickly became a standout on Juanes’ seminal sophomore album, Un Día Normal.

Karol G won Album of the Year, Natalia Lafourcade won Record of the Year, Shakira and DJ Bizarrap won Song of the Year, and Joaquina was voted Best New Artist to headline the 24th Latin Grammys, held tonight in Seville, Spain.
