When Paramount+ brought Trek back to television in September 2017 with Star Trek: Discovery's double-decker premiere event, it broke ground on a road that would see the rebirth of the Trek franchise.

Six years later, Star Trek: Discovery has saved the galaxy multiple times; traveled through the mycelial network, to the Mirror Universe and back, forward in time nine hundred years, and beyond the edge of the known universe; and spawned the highly successful spin-off Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

In March, Paramount+ announced the fifth season will be the USS Discovery's final mission. We've gathered all the intel on what it'll entail, who's on board, and when you can expect to buckle up and hold on as Michael Burnham and her crew let 'er fly one last time.

Strange New Worlds' Hemmer Death Makes Spock Even More Important
Image
The death of Lt. Hemmer (Bruce Horak) in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds makes Lt. Spock (Ethan Peck) more important, setting up the Vulcan's status in Star Trek: The Original Series. Hemmer tragically sacrificed his life to save his crew from the USS Enterprise after he was infected by baby Gorn in Strange New Worlds episode 9, "All Those Who Wander." Hemmer's demise was a shocking turn of events that left his friends on the Enterprise, especially his protégé, Cadet Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), in mourning for the courageous Aenar.

Even though he was the Starship Enterprise's Chief Engineer, Hemmer was always meant to die in Strange New Worlds season 1. The impetus behind Hemmer's creation was Strange New Worlds' executive producers' realization that the Enterprise was full of legacy characters like Spock, Uhura, and Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), who fans know will live on into Star Trek: The Original Series.

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers for Season 4, Episode 6.

With “Stormy Weather,” Star Trek: Discovery celebrates the Trek tradition of getting some excellent musical standards into the bold voyages in the final frontier. With Picard, it was a call back to “Blue Skies,” but now, we’ve got a new version of the song made famous by Ella Fitzgerald, “Stormy Weather.” This version is sung by actress Annabelle Wallis, who has voiced “Zora” the intelligent Disco computer since 2018’s Short Treks episode, “Calypso.” The newest Discovery episode obviously references that story a lot but what else? From galactic barriers to an old Scotty trick with the transporter, here’s every Easter egg and shout-out we spotted in Discovery Season 4, Episode 6, “Stormy Weather.”

Burnham’s family tree

In the opening moments of the episode, we see Burnham putting together a family tree, inspired by the Lalogi orb from the previous episode,...
