The Latest Little House on the Prairie Casting May Have Changed My Mind
Image
Everyone knows how I felt about Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot when it was first announced. The long and short of it being, “why are they trying to ruin my childhood?”

I grew up on the original Little House on the Prairie. It was part of my childhood. It wasn’t easy to imagine anything being as wonderful as it was

However, the latest casting and news have me rethinking my skepticism, and maybe there is room for a different take on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books.

(Eric Zachanowich/Netflix) Having Some Well-Known Actors Could Entice Viewers

Initially, the Ingalls Family casting news didn’t sell me. The girls were the best part of it, and I wish they had hired more well-known actors for Charles and Caroline.

Maybe it’s me, but I hadn’t heard of Luke Bracey or Crosby Fitzgerald before.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia...

Which Original ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Stars Will Appear in the Netflix Adaptation?
Image
After more than four decades, the Ingalls family is venturing back to television. Production is currently underway on Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie, an adaptation of the same Laura Ingalls Wilder book series that inspired the NBC series of the same name that ran from 1974 to 1983. Netflix says the new Little House is “part family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West” and “transformed adaptation” of Wilder’s semi-autobiographical books. “The series will offer a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier,” the streamer adds. Already, producers of the new series have cast Alice Halsey as Laura, Luke Bracey as Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary, those actors filling roles originally played by Melissa Gilbert, Michael Landon, Karen Grassle, and Melissa Sue Anderson, respectively. Jocko Sims, Warren Christie, Meegwun Fairbrother, Alyssa Wapanatǎhk,...

Why Hulu Canceled How To Die Alone After One Season
Image
Airports always carry an air of possibility; everywhere you look, people are doing something new, visiting home, or embarking on a new chapter. Moments of transport in different entertainment mediums pack all that uncertainty into their gutters and move the viewer into a new headspace to consider what has been and what is to come. A show like "How to Die Alone" did double-duty in that regard, because Natasha Rothwell's Hulu series showed how much TV has grown in the last half-decade, and how far the medium still has to go. The streamer decided to cancel the series, citing low viewership, failing to recognize potential when it was staring them right in the face.

"How to Die Alone" is a comedy/drama starring Natasha Rothwell as Mel, an airport worker who's been in emotional limbo for some time and awakens to the possibility of her life being more than...

Netflix's Missing Character in Little House on the Prairie Reboot Explained After Fans Cry Foul
Image
The Ingalls family is returning to television in the form of a new Netflix series, which will reboot the classic Little House on the Prairie, which ran from 1974 to 1983. The original show chronicled the lives of the family in the 19th-century American Midwest, featuring Ma and Pa Ingalls and their three daughters, Mary, Laura, and Carrie. However, with recent casting announcements for the reboot, fans were left wondering why the role of the youngest Ingalls, Carrie, has not been cast yet.

A fan asked TVLine if Carrie Ingalls was being “retconned out of existence in Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot.” It turns out that there is a simple answer to why the part of Carrie isn’t anywhere to be found. TVLine stated that sources close to the Netflix reboot stated, “When the series opens, Carrie (played on the Og series by Lindsay and Sidney Greenbush) simply has not been born yet.

After Will Ferrell's Failed Reboot, Netflix Will Remake a 51-Year-Old Sci-Fi Classic
Image
Netflix wants to get lost in a classic sci-fi adventure series from the 1970s. The streamer has closed a deal with Legendary Television for a new Land of the Lost remake.

According to Deadline, the show's original creators, Sid and Marty Krofft, as well as the latter's daughter, Deanna Krofft Pope, will produce the remake, which is in very early stages at Netflix and Legendary. A writer is currently being sought to script the series, which is once again expected to follow the Marshall family as they accidentally go through a portal and find themselves trapped in a world inhabited by dinosaurs, primate-like people named Pakuni, and reptilian humanoids called Sleestak.

The original Land of the Lost ran for three seasons and 43 episodes on NBC from September 1974 to December 1976. Despite its relatively short run, Land of the Lost became a cult classic, leading to a short-lived reboot on ABC in the early 1990s.

Netflix's Little House on the Prairie reboot adds New Amsterdam, Batwoman stars to cast
Image
Netflix’s reboot of Little House on the Prairie just got even more exciting with stars from New Amsterdam and Batwoman joining the cast, as well as several other talented actors. This latest casting news comes about three weeks after the announcement of who will portray the Ingalls family in the series.

We first learned of this Little House on the Prairie reboot back in January 2025 when Netflix announced that it had officially greenlit the project. It is not a remake or continuation of the beloved television series of the same name that aired on NBC from 1974 to 1983. Instead, it's Netflix's fresh adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s original Little House on the Prairie books.

Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for working on shows like The Boys, The Vampire Diaries and Archive 81, is signed on as showrunner and executive producer. She also writes the scripts. Additionally, Joy Gorman Wettels, Trip Friendly,...

High Potential guest star Jocko Sims opens up about whether his character, Ronnie Oliver, will return. ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Review: NBC’s Suburban Murder Dramedy Fails to Flower
Image
Until I saw NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society, I’d never thought about how far it might be possible to take a gardening metaphor. Each of the four episodes sent to critics is threaded with voiceover narration, always from a different perspective but invariably laden with floral language comparing individual personalities to specific species or unwanted houseguests to pests.

To the extent that this series has a distinctive edge, it might be its commitment to this specific bit. A tiny part of me hopes it runs for a hundred episodes just to hear how tenuous or obscure the plant-based symbolism can get.

A much larger part of me, however, cannot bring myself to care whether it sticks around or not. Alice (AnnaSophia Robb) might liken herself to a wild geranium or her bestie Brett (Ben Rappaport) to a hardy dandelion. But the show they’re on is the TV...

Natasha Rothwell Says ‘How to Die Alone’ Cancellation Was a ‘Shock,’ but Isn’t Giving Up on the Show: ‘I’m Nothing if Not Resilient’
Image
Despite the early cancellation of Onxy Collective’s “How to Die Alone” at Hulu, creator and star Natasha Rothwell is remaining committed to the show as she shops it around.

“It definitely did come as a shock, but I think this industry is nothing if not ever-changing, and I’m nothing if not resilient,” Rothwell told TheWrap while completing press for “The White Lotus” Season 3. “It took me eight years to get the show made, and I have every intention of taking it out and seeing if there’s an appetite for it.”

“If nothing comes of that, I’m so proud of the work that I’ve done,” Rothwell continued. “I’m so proud of the writers and the actors and that something like that exists in the world, and I’ll continue to fight to write and create content that centers marginalized voices.”

“How to Die Alone,” which...

‘High Potential’ Episode 12 Recap: “Partners”
Image
Kaitlin Olson, Daniel Sunjata, and Jocko Sims in ‘High Potential’ episode 12 (Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)

ABC’s High Potential episode 12’s case of the week involves a man who exited a private plane, began foaming at the mouth, and then died on the tarmac. The coroner believes it’s death by poison.

Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) joins Adam (Daniel Sunjata), Daphne (Javicia Leslie), and Oz (Deniz Akdeniz) at the airport and gets the rundown on the deceased. He’s Anson Pierce, founder of a tech company that developed a controversial social media platform. His app creates deepfakes from existing videos … deepfakes that can ruin lives.

Anson was traveling with his dog and a security team, and they’re all fine.

FBI Special Agent Ronnie Oliver (Jocko Sims) believes the death is in the FBI’s jurisdiction because it happened in US airspace. Oliver makes the mistake of speaking past Morgan to Adam to find out her name.

'My Heart Aches': Hulu Comedy Series With 91% Rt Score Canceled After 1 Season, Creator Reacts
Image
After its streaming release on Hulu last year, How to Die Alone garnered some very strong reviews. However, it would seem that this wasn't enough to save the series.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, How to Die Alone has been canceled at Hulu after one season. It's an unfortunate update for fans of the show who'd been waiting for over four months to see if another season would be coming or not. The show has a high score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, garnering very high acclaim from critics, with a strong audience score that's not too far behind at 83%. No specific reason was reported for why the show has been canceled, but it seems likely that it's because viewership numbers weren't as high as Hulu had been hoping for.

Hulu Cancels 'How To Die Alone' After One Season, Being Shopped Elsewhere
Image
Hulu continues to cancel fan-favorite shows before they can become mainstream successes, and their latest cancellation is no different. How to Die Alone, created by and starring Sonic the Hedgehog scene-stealer Natasha Rothwell, has been canceled by the streaming service after just one season on the platform. Although critics adored the comedy, with reviews earning it a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems Hulu did not find enough reason to greenlight another set of episodes for How to Die Alone.

On Tuesday, Hulu officially declined to renew How to Die Alone (via Deadline) for another season. It's unclear why the streamer decided to not move forward with more episodes, but it would not be the first time Hulu prematurely ended a show's lifespan. Rothwell, series creator and star, released a statement about the surprising news, expressing her shock and disappointment. Her words:

“I am shocked, heartbroken, and frankly, baffled that...

‘How to Die Alone’ Canceled After Single Season at Hulu

Hulu has canceled its comedy series How to Die Alone after one season.

The news comes about 4 1/2 months after the series, created by and starring Natasha Rothwell, wrapped its eight-episode season on the streamer. The show was produced by Onyx Collective, which like Hulu is part of Disney.

How to Die Alone stars Rothwell as a “a broke, fat, Black JFK Airport employee who’s never been in love and forgotten how to dream, until an accidental brush with death catapults her on a journey to finally take flight and start living by any means necessary.” Conrad Ricamora, Jocko Sims and KeiLyn Durrel Jones also star.

Rothwell indicated in an Instagram post that she’ll try to find a new home for the show, writing, “This is hard to comprehend. … My heart is aches for the incredible cast, crew and writers who gave their all to tell this story. I...

‘How to Die Alone’ Canceled After One Season at Hulu
Image
“How to Die Alone” will not return for Season 2 at Hulu. The Onyx Collective series starring and created by Natasha Rothwell was canceled Tuesday, but the actress shared her hopes to find a new home to continue the story.

“I am shocked, heartbroken and frankly, baffled that Onyx has decided not to move forward with a second season of ‘How to Die Alone.’ This is a tough reality to accept because the show is an undeniable critical, creative and award-winning success,” Rothwell said in a statement. “This show took me eight years to bring to life, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned in that time, it’s resilience. I’m not giving up. My team and I are committed to finding ‘How to Die Alone’ a new home because stories like this matter.”

The eight-episode first season followed Mel, “a broke, fat, Black JFK Airport employee who...

‘How to Die Alone’ Canceled After One Season on Hulu; Creator-Star Natasha Rothwell Is ‘Baffled’ and Shopping Series Elsewhere (Exclusive)
Image
“How to Die Alone,” the comedy series created by and starring Natasha Rothwell, has been canceled after one season on Hulu.

The series hailed from Onyx Collective, a Disney content brand that produces projects created by people of color and from underrepresented communities. Onyx gave “How to Die Alone” a series order in November of 2022 before releasing it in September 2024.

In a statement to Variety, Rothwell wrote that she is “shocked, heartbroken and frankly, baffled” at Onyx’s decision. Though a source close to the studio indicates that viewership wasn’t strong enough to renew “How to Die Alone,” Rothwell argues that it was “an undeniable critical, creative and award-winning success.” Indeed, the series achieved a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Variety‘s review calling it “skillfully crafted” and Rothwell’s performance “flawless.” It also won the Independent Spirit Award for ensemble cast in a new scripted series and has three...

New ‘High Potential’ Sneak Peak Introduces an Important Figure From Karadec’s Past

In High Potential Season 1, Episode 12, "Partners," the show fills in some aspects of Karadec's (Daniel Sunjata) past through a former partner. High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 Spoilers: Things Get Unexpectedly Intense When Karadec’s Former Partner Steps onto the Scene
Image
Nothing makes a person more territorial than when an ex comes waltzing back into their partner’s life. In High Potential’s case, it’s Karadec’s ex-partner, but maybe not in the way you think.

The next episode seems to be drawing a lot of attention to workplace partnerships, specifically those tied to Karadec.

From what’s seen in the promo, the series wouldn’t be nearly as fun without the dynamic duo Karadec and Morgan.

(Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)

We gleaned from the High Potential Season 1 Episode 12 promo that Karadec’s former partner, Oliver, now an FBI agent, will be assisting the cops on a case. Que the cliched “Cops and Feds don’t mix” trope that many shows like to use.

Is that even a real thing? If anyone works in law enforcement, please sound off in the comments. Let’s dive into the next episode of this broadcast season’s biggest show.

Jocko Sims Among 4 Joining NBC’s ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Series As Recurring

New Amsterdam alum Jocko Sims is back at NBC with a recurring role on the upcoming drama series Grosse Pointe Garden Society. Also recurring on the twisty, soapy mystery series from Good Girls‘ Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs are Saamer Usmani (Three Body Problem), Josh Ventura (Till) and Nora Zehetner (Grey’s Anatomy).

Grosse Pointe Garden Society, which earlier today released a first trailer, follows four members of a suburban garden club — Birdie (Melissa Fumero), Catherine (Aja Naomi King), Brett (Ben Rappaport) and Alice (AnnaSophia Robb) — who find their lives intertwined by scandal, mischief and a shared secret – a murder no one wants to talk about. As dark truths begin to rot their lives under the surface, they struggle to remain as perfect as the flowers blooming in their garden above.

Sims plays Catherine’s (King) husband Tucker. He’s entitled, self-serving, dismissive and prioritizes everything above his wife. Usmani plays Gary,...

The 10 Best Medical Shows On Netflix Ranked
Image
There are plenty of medical shows streaming on Netflix, so fans of the hospital set and adjacent TV shows have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to the streaming platform. Medical TV shows have always been a favorite of networks and viewers alike. The setting is naturally compelling and allows for a large ensemble, including guest stars and recurring characters, to come and go. There are also plenty of opportunities for more mundane "life-in-an-office" episodes that show the inner workings of operating something large and bureaucratic like a hospital.

While most medical TV shows are classified as dramas, almost every one of these shows has a surprising amount of humor layered into the story as well. It's a necessary juxtaposition to balance the tense and often heartbreaking events that can happen at a hospital. This fusion usually means that medical TV shows are more well-rounded than other job-related TV shows,...
