Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has officially launched the teaser trailer for a new era of storytelling, with none other than a bold, reimagined take on ‘The Cat in the Hat.’

The studio unveiled the first teaser trailer for the film, describing it as “bigger, better, more amazing, and more whimsical than you could ever imagine.”

Described as the perfect ambassador for this next phase of Warner Bros. animation, the project marks a fresh start for the studio, focusing on both original stories and innovative takes on beloved characters.

Duncan Jones finally has something to show for the movie he's been promising since 2018. The Moon and Warcraft director is no stranger to meticulous sci-fi and his newest project, Rogue Trooper, is his most ambitious yet. Watson star Morris Chestnut has addressed the possibility of Sherlock Holmes appearing in the CBS medical drama. The modern Sherlock Holmes-inspired adaptation is unusual in the sense that the Great Detective does not actually appear in the show. In fact, the storyline picks up after Holmes' apparent death, and sees Dr. John Watson move to Pittsburgh and open a practice to treat patients with strange or unidentifiable issues. Holmes has yet to make an appearance in the show in person, but this could be set to change.

Per Deadline, Chestnut discussed the possibility of Matt Berry - who voices Sherlock in the show - appearing on the screen in Watson at some point. CBS reimagined the Sherlock Holmes lore by expanding Dr. John Watson’s storyline. Watson is a unique spin on medical procedurals, featuring familiar, modern-day versions of characters, with Morris Chestnut in the titular role. Sherlock Holmes doesn’t appear in the show because it takes place a year after his apparent death; Watson has resumed his medical practice and moved on. Speaking to Deadline, Chestnut teased that Holmes could appear in the flesh in the (now-confirmed) second season.

“I will say Holmes, you know, in the mythology, does come back… and we are part of the mythology,” he explained, referring to The Return of Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Watson star Morris Chestnut recently shared his hopes for Elementary's Lucy Liu to make an appearance on his Sherlock Holmes show. While the shows are currently unrelated, their creative teams do have some overlap.

Speaking during a Work in Progression session at Annecy, Alessandro Carloni, who is co-writing and directing The Cat in the Hat, said he has landed six movie directing roles across his career and only finished two of them.

“It’s that kind of industry,” he added. “You have to go with the frustration. We are lucky to do art in our profession but we can’t lock ourselves in a basement and paint a painting. We get to do things that are huge and expensive and it is a business.”

The Hollywood Creative Alliance has announced their nominees for the 2025 Astra TV Awards, scheduled to take place on June 10 in Los Angeles.

Apple TV+'s comedy The Studio, a satire about the inner workings of Hollywood, topped the nominations list with 14 bids. The series is up for Best Comedy, with individual acting nominations for Seth Rogen (Best Comedy Actor), Ike Barinholtz (Best Comedy Supporting Actor), and dual Best Comedy Supporting Actress nods for Catherine O’Hara and Chase Sui Wonders.

In the drama categories, Apple TV+'s Severance and HBO's The Last of Us led the way with 13 nominations each. Both shows are recognized in multiple acting categories and are competing for Best Drama Series.

It’s still bringing in millions at the box office, but Warner Bros is fast-tracking A Minecraft Movie to digital services and DVD, Blu-ray and 4K disc.

At a point where cinema chains are negotiating to hold major studios to a 90-day exclusive theatrical window, Warner Bros is pressing ahead with its current policy when it comes to A Minecraft Movie. The most successful American movie of the year at the global box office, and closing in on $1bn at the box office, the film was released in cinemas just over a month ago, and already, it’s been made available on premium video on demand services.

It’s debuted in the US, and the UK digital release is 19th May 2025. We saw Warner Bros do this with the hugely successful Beetlejuice Beetlejuice last year, when at a point the film was third at the US box office, it was fast-tracked to on demand services.

Krapopolis is currently in its second season, which is concluding this month. The show, created by Dan Harmon, imagines a more zany version of ancient Greek lore where humans interact with gods and mythical creatures. It had previously been renewed through Season 4, and the new renewal by Fox will guarantee a fifth season of the show.

Fox has greenlit more seasons of three of its adult animated series: “Universal Basic Guys,” “Grimsburg,” and “Krapopolis.”

“Grimsburg” and “Universal Basic Guys” are both returning for Season 3, while “Krapopolis” has been renewed for Season 5.

“Krapopolis,” which has received a Season 5 order ahead of Season 3, “is set in mythical ancient Greece and tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters trying to run one of the world’s first cities, while also trying their best to not kill each other in the process.
