Jonny Lewis started acting at age 45 after being invited to a theatre audition "just to watch." After lead roles in 3 Off-Off-Broadway shows in 2002, and winning a Best Actor award for the first short film he ever acted in, he moved to Los Angeles, where he did 150 student and indie films in 8 years. While taking care of his elderly mother in Michigan from 2014 to late 2019, Jonny occasionally flew back to LA to shoot short films that earned him 20 awards on IMDb (plus another 7 awards from non-IMDb festivals) and 150 festival appearances.. Jonny directed his first feature (a comedy) in September of 2021 in Idaho: "Waking Up in Idaho." After a year as a nomad in Asia, Jonny ended up in Siberia for a year, and moved to Moscow in May 2025. As of summer 2025 Jonny is polishing the feature script for "Sgt. Meat," the absurd but true "as told to" story of a U.S. Army medic in the Iraq War. In the fall of 2025 he will finish his feature script "The Grief Ranch," about six people at a remote ranch who must help each other through their grief when the planned-on grief counselor goes into early labor and cannot attend. Jonny is conversant in several languages, now including Russian.
