Joy Ride 2023 Sets Up An Even Wilder Sequel That Has To Happen
Image
Warning: Contains Spoilers for Joy Ride!An even wilder adventure could come next for Audrey, Lolo, Deadeye, and Kat, as the 2023 comedy Joy Ride subtly sets up a sequel. The original R-rated comedy from director Adele Lim follows a group of Asian-American friends as they travel across Asia and find themselves in ridiculous situations. The eventful trip includes them meeting a drug dealer and being forced to be accomplices, eventually encountering Baron Davis in Joy Ride and hooking up with his basketball team, and posing as a K-Pop group. All the hilarious moments come as Audrey attempts to locate her birth mother and get back home to America.

By the time Joy Ride's ending occurs, the movie does an excellent job of wrapping up its main story focused on Audrey and Lolo's friendship. Viewers are treated to another get-together of the friend group after they repair the relationships hurt...

Joy Ride's Biggest Surprise Cameo Has A Special Movie Connection
Image
Warning: This post contains spoilers for Joy RideJoy Ride has several familiar faces in its cast, but its biggest surprise cameo has a special movie connection that makes it even better. Directed by Adele Lim from a screenplay by Cherry Chevapravatdumrong and Teresa Hsiao, Joy Ride has a stacked cast that includes Stephanie Hsu of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Following a group of friends on their trip to China, the characters have an unexpected adventure.

Joy Ride shakes up the raunchy comedy genre, adding depth by way of conversations about, and the exploration of, one’s identity. How to Watch ‘Joy Ride': Is the Raunchy, R-Rated Comedy Streaming?
Sabrina Wu, Stephanie Hsu, Ashley Park, and Sherry Cola in Joy Ride (2023)
“Joy Ride,” the raunchy girl’s trip comedy starring Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Stephanie Hsu and Sabrina Wu opens this week.

It’s the first studio movie to feature a predominantly Asian cast since Marvel’s “Shang-Chi: The Legend of the 10 Rings” in 2021, and the first since “Crazy Rich Asians” in 2018 to feature Asian female leads.

In the film, lawyer Audrey Sullivan (Park) is tasked with securing a business deal in China. She brings along her childhood friend Lolo (Cola) as her translator, as Audrey was adopted by white parents. They’re joined by Deadeye (Wu), Lolo cousin. While in China, they meet up with Audrey’s college roommate Kat, a successful actress. Lolo encourages Ashley to search for her birth mother, and hijinks — with an emphasis on “high” — ensue.

When did “Joy Ride” premiere and when is its release date?

“Joy Ride” premiered at SXSW on March 17, 2023. It opens...

Joy Ride's Baron Davis Cameo & Real-Life Comparison Explained
Image
Warning: Contains Spoilers for Joy Ride! The 2023 comedy Joy Ride includes a surprise cameo from former NBA star Baron Davis, and here is how he factors into the story and compares to himself in real life. The R-rated movie focuses on a group of four Asian-American friends - Audrey, Lolo, Deadeye, and Kat - as they embark on a trip across Asia that mixes business and family with pleasure. The core Joy Ride cast is at the center of much of the movie's hijinks, but there are plenty of characters who float into the story at different junctures. This includes former NBA star Baron Davis, as he gets a minor but important role in the story.

Adele Lim's 2023 movie Joy Ride is a raunchy R-rated comedy that does not hold back from referencing and teasing a variety of celebrities. Everyone from Randall Park to Greta Gerwig to the K-pop...

‘Joy Ride’ Review: One of 2023’s Best Comedies
Image
Sabrina Wu as Deadeye, Ashley Park as Audrey, Sherry Cola as Lolo, and Stephanie Hsu as Kat in ‘Joy Ride’ (Photo Credit: Ed Araquel)

Someone didn’t get the memo. A 10-year-old-ish boy sat down with his mom in my row at the press/word-of-mouth screening, and it took maybe five minutes before the woman sitting next to the mom filled her in on Joy Ride. I watched as she hit up Rotten Tomatoes for more info, watched the trailer, and then did right by her son – nearly sprinting out of the theater with 15 minutes to spare before the screening started.

Once Joy Ride began, the raunchy, wild and crazy, completely unfiltered hard R-rated comedy confirmed the mom’s decision was spot on. For the rest of us adults in the theater, what followed the opening minutes also confirmed Joy Ride is the best R-rated female-led comedy – and one of...

See ‘Eeaao’ star Stephanie Hsu gets raunchy in ‘Joy Ride’ trailer

From the producers of “Neighbors” and the co-screenwriter of “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Joy Ride” stars Ashley Park, Sherry Cola, Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu, and Sabrina Wu. ‘Joy Ride’ Star Stephanie Hsu Talks About ‘Truly Hilarious’ Nsfw Tattoo Scene in ‘Unhinged’ Comedy
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story includes minor spoilers for the upcoming R-rated comedy, “Joy Ride.”

Stephanie Hsu wants people to know that her big naked reveal in “Joy Ride” is hilarious, but it’s not her. “It’s a body double. Let me be clear and let my mother know,” the Oscar-nominated actor told me Monday at the film’s Los Angeles premiere.

“Joy Ride” is a raunchy R-rated comedy that stars Ashley Park as Audrey, a high-powered attorney who travels to China on business. Joining her on the trip are friends Lolo (Sherry Cola) and Deadeye (Sabrina Wu). Hsu plays Audrey’s college friend, Kat, who is now a Chinese soap opera star. The four find themselves in various bonker scenarios that include drugs, sex and even basketball star Baron Davis.
