Rogue River Only Goes Half the Distance: A Movie Review
*here be major spoilers. Director: Jourdan McClure. Writers: Ryan Finnerty and Kevin Haskin. Cast: Michelle Page, Art Alexakis, Chris Coy, Michael Cudlitz, Lucinda Jenney, and Bill Moseley. Tagline: "Still waters run deep." Rogue River is the second project that this reviewer has seen from Kejo Productions. The other was a thriller titled Sensored starring Robert Picardo. Sensored was a entertaining outing. Rogue River is less thrilling and more predictable. Even a theme of incest only creates a few unsettling moments. This film, which clocks in at a mere eighty-one minutes, is not really recommended for horrors fans seeking something really frightening. The film follows Mara (Michelle Page) on her journey to bury her father's ashes. She is interrupted by a friendly man, Jon (Bill Moseley). He wants to help her after her car has been stolen. Or, does he want to help himself to Mara when he has her back at an isolated cabin?...

Rogue River (2012) review
By Jesse Miller, MoreHorror.com

Synopsis:

While spreading the ashes of her father along the stunning Rogue River, Mara (Michelle Page) bumps into pleasant local Jon (Bill Moseley) who befriends and consoles her over warm conversations about his life. When the two head back to their cars, Mara notices her own has mysteriously vanished and with sundown quickly approaching, she reluctantly takes Jon up on his offer of warm hospitality for the night. She’s soon going to wish she didn’t.

It might be easy to dismiss Rogue River as yet another derivative torture film - “Torture Porn” is just a ridiculous term which I will never use – but I urge you not to because this little twisted nightmare is well worth your time.

Okay, so it does feel that tiny bit familiar and when the craziness is dialled up a few notches, every torture film you’ve ever...

The Horrors of "Rogue River" Might Shock You, But That's About It
The film opens and ends with a river, but it is more a tranquil river rather than a rogue one. Introspective Mara (Michelle Page, who looks like a Keira Knightley stand-in) spends too long gazing at this Rogue River; and her car is towed. Stuck in the middle of nowhere, Mara relies on the kindness of the stranger who appears at her side. Didn’t her mother warn her about getting into cars with strangers?

Jon (Bill Moseley) takes her home to his wife Lea (Lucinda Jenney)—no wait, she’s his sister!—who is preparing dinner. After some awkward conversation, Mara retires to bed; and everything gets really weird. Jon shows up in her bedroom in his underwear and freaks her out. Then she runs into Lea in a bathrobe in the kitchen. Lea pees on the floor whilst repeating some creepy phrase, yanks the wig off her head...

Frightfest 2011: Day 2 Report - From Faye Coulman
Picking up where Thursday's nerve-shredding scares left off, mid-morning marks a violent, if somewhat predictable opener in the form of Rogue River. Hinged on an overused plot formula in which a stranded victim accepts a lift from an apparently helpful passer-by, the movie is the latest in a long line of Texas Chainsaw Massacre copycats. A seasoned pro in this much-imitated field, horror legend Bill Moseley is instantly at home in the role of sadistic torturer Jon, with newcomer Michelle Page turning in a convincingly distressed performance as hapless victim Mara. But despite a couple of plot twists thrown in almost as an afterthought, Rogue River inevitably meanders into deeply unoriginal territory...

FrightFest 2011: ‘Rogue River’ adds nothing new to the genre
Rogue River

Directed by Jourdan McClure

Starring Michelle Page, Bill Moseley, Lucinda Jenny

USA 2010

First time helmer Jourdan McClure does a solid job with this effective but ultimately disposable horror / thriller that treads a well-worn genre path, not dissimilar to Misery or I Spit on Your Grave.

A distraught Mara visits a remote fishing location in Southern Oregon to spread the ashes of her recently diseased father. When her car mysteriously vanishes, she decides to trust the kindly stranger she met merely ten minutes ago and allows him to take her to his house to call for help where his obviously unhinged wife also lives. Improbable circumstances occur and Mara ends up having to stay the night, which is when the couple’s true nature boils to the surface.

There’s little directly wrong with Rogue River aside from it’s contrived opening segment which sees our protagonist make a series of unbelievably stupid decisions,...

FrightFest 2011 Review: Rogue River
Rogue River

Stars: Michelle Page, Bil Moseley, Lucinda Jenney, Michael Cudlitz | Written by Kevin Haskin, Ryan Finnerty | Directed by Jourdan McClure

Taking a trip into the wilds of Oregon to scatter her fathers ashes at Rogue River (hence the title), Californian Mara (Page) finds her car towed by the local Sheriff. However all is not lost as a kindly passing stranger, played by Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2‘s Bill Moseley, offers to give her a lift, which she begrudgingly accepts. Big mistake…

Yes, no points for guessing what happens next as Rogue River is as cliched as they come – Mara is kidnapped and both emotionally and physically tortured by good-old-by Jon and his cohort Lea, played Moseley and his real-life wife Lucinda Jenney respectively, before being subjected to a degrading act of copulation with her own brother who has come to find her! Of course this being your typical torture/rape/revenge flick,...

The Db in the park was Donny (Drew Van Acker) and attended Redding Prep. Castle says he also attended Prep school. Lanie (Tamala Jones) puts Cod to a single Gsw to the chest and he wasn't killed in the boat. Cover Your Eyes Before Watching this Spine Tingling Trailer for Rogue River Starring Bill Moseley
Nothing could be creepier than waking up in the middle of night to a partially nude Bill Moseley. The latest trailer for Kejo Production's and Vision Entertainment's Rogue River scares viewers with more than just that, however. Characters Jon (Moseley) and Lea (Lucinda Jenney) terrorize a grief stricken Mara (Michelle Page) morning, noon and night. Lea and Jon remove clothes and wigs to shock audiences and to make Mara wish she had parked her car somewhere else, somewhere much farther away from Oregon's beautiful Rogue River.

Have a look at the newest film poster for Rogue River, which has added some details since the original, posted here (Rogue River Original Film Art). As well, Dread Central has debuted a much fuller trailer for this horror thriller, which shows more of actress Michelle Page and too much of Moseley. The film clip is below.

Bill Moseley Swims in Rogue River and Word on Prowl
Bill Moseley
This scribe caught up with actor and all-around nice guy Bill Moseley(The Devil’s Rejects), who's adding yet another genre notch to his already prolific career in horror.

"I'm up here in Grants Pass, Oregon, shooting a sick and as yet uncovered movie called 'Rogue River'," the actor informed us. "It's directed by Jourdan McClure - remember that name! – and it stars me, Michelle Page (Sensored) , Michael (Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer) Rooker, and my real-life girlfriend (television actress) Lucinda Jenney."

Filming until December 20th, first-time filmmaker McClure is shooting from a script penned by screenwriters Kevin (Sensored) Haskin and Ryan Finnerty. Dread did some dredging of Rogue River, and here’s the upshot: The film revolves around the plight of Mara (played by Page), who, while scattering her father’s ashes, makes the acquaintance of a seemingly benign man named Jon (Moseley). Appearances are deceiving,...

The erstwhile Jason will play Duncan Jacobs, the onscreen brother of The Devil’S Rejects actor Lew Temple. “After speaking with both Lew and Kane, they both agree wholeheartedly that the lineup within Stingy Jack is definitely something of a wonderful thing that they both look forward very much,” Langseth tells us.
