‘Lemon Tree Passage’ (2014) review
Reviewed by Jesse Miller

MoreHorror.com

Lemon Tree Passage is an Australian Horror-Thriller that is set around the local ghost story that goes like this: A tormented biker that was struck and killed in a hit and run now apparently haunts the backroads of a small Australian town.

Three American Backpackers, Maya (Jessica Tovey), Amelia (Pippa Black) and Sam (Nicholas Gunn), meet a couple of Aussie larrikins, Geordie (Tim Phillips) and Oscar (Andrew Ryan), that recite the spooky urban legend to the trio and off they all go to test the theory. Unsurprisingly, horror ensues.

Lemon Tree Passage starts off strong. There’s a few good scares, the cast are all particularly strong and the atmosphere is quite effective, due to some superb cinematography.

The problem comes later as the story progresses. The plot developments come off feeling more than a little silly and contrived, dispensing of the great atmosphere...

"Neighbours, everybody needs good neighbours."

In early 2015, Neighbours will celebrate its 30th anniversary. The Aussie soap has provided us with nearly 7,000 episodes of drama, laughs and Harold Bishop falling off a clifftop and returning five years later as a bloke called Ted.

Here are our suggestions on who they could bring back:

Annalise Hartman (Kimberley Davies) - Alex Fletcher, Deputy Editor

Pretty much every teenage boy in the '90s had a major crush on Ramsay Street's Annalise Hartman. Played by Kimberley Davies, she was a man magnet in Erinsborough, working her way through relationships with Lou(!), Sam Kratz, Mark Gottlieb and Stonefish. She...

'Law & Order: Svu': First look at Season 14 and Cragen behind bars
"Law & Order: Svu" ended last season on one of the spring's more surprising cliffhangers: At the end of a twisty case involving rival escort services and their high-profile clients, Capt. Cragen (Dann Florek) woke up next to the dead body of one of the escorts (Pippa Black).

The show's Season 14 premiere will deal with the fallout from that incident -- and it's not good for Cragen. In this promo for the Sept. 26 season premiere -- which you can see exclusively on Zap2it; it begins airing on NBC Saturday (Sept. 8) -- you'll see Cragen in a jail-issued orange jumpsuit and everyone on edge about whether he's really culpable in the woman's death. Even Olivia (Mariska Hargitay) looks like she has her doubts.

Several of the guest stars from last season's finale, including Ron Rifkin as a powerful defense attorney and Dean Winters as former Svu Detective Brian Cassidy, will return for the premiere,...

Paget Brewster to Follow Up Criminal Minds with Svu
Having already left Criminal Minds for greener pastures – twice, by the way – I find myself more than a little surprised Paget Brewster’s first gig after leaving the CBS series will be with Law & Order: Svu. I mean, why leave a popular crime procedural with the hopes of branching out and trying new things only to end up working on yet another crime procedural? I know it’s not a permanent role, but couldn’t Brewster find something a little bit better? One could argue this is a nice, soft transition for her before she tries something really different, but I don’t buy it.

The first time she left Criminal Minds it was due to money costs, and it seemed like Brewster was ready to really branch out and she even did a TV movie, but she was pulled back in. Now that she’s gone for good this time,...

'Law & Order: Svu' books Paget Brewster for Season 14 premiere
Paget Brewster's next TV gig will be competing directly with her old one.

Brewster, who left CBS' "Criminal Minds" at the end of last season, will guest-star on the two-hour season premiere of "Law & Order: Svu" on Sept. 26, The Hollywood Reporter notes. The first half of that premiere just happens to be airing opposite the season opener for "Criminal Minds," which will introduce Jeanne Tripplehorn as the replacement for Brewster's character.

On "Svu," Brewster will play the head of the Manhattan district attorney's Public Integrity Unit, which is leading the investigation of how a dead women ended up in bed next to Capt. Cragen (Dann Florek) in last season's finale. It will be Brewster's second time on the show; she previously guested (playing a different character) in a 2007 episode called "Scheherazade."

The season premiere of "Svu" will also bring back several guest stars from May's finale, including Dean Winters,...

And now... the nominations for the Bizarro Emmys
Take a gander at the various Emmy nomination ballots and you'll quickly discover something: Almost everyone puts their name in for a nomination.

It doesn't matter if the show died a quick and painless death, if it was critically derided for much of its short run, it's so obscure no one has ever heard of it, or it's an established -- and sometimes quite good -- show whose chances of being nominated are about the same as our seeing dinosaurs roaming the planet in our lifetimes.

This isn't an ego thing, surprisingly enough; the academy encourages casts and crews from all shows to submit themselves for a nomination, likely under the axiom that you've got to be in it to win it (did you hear that, Charlie Sheen?). What this all-inclusive attitude can lead to, though, is some pretty funny discoveries.

So, let's pretend that we're in the Bizarro world...

Outsourced: NBC TV Series Cancelled; No Season Two
The little sitcom that caused a lot of controversy last summer has quietly ended its run. NBC has cancelled Outsourced after one season on the air.

Outsourced follows a Us sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who's assigned to supervise his company's call center in India. The sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.

The NBC sitcom started out decently and it looked like NBC might have a keeper on its hands. Last September, Outsourced debuted to a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.49 million viewers. In week two, the demo number fell 22% to a 2.8 rating and 5.85 million viewers but that was still pretty healthy by NBC standards.

Unfortunately, over the course of the season, the ratings just kept dwindling downward. The ratings have...

NBC Orders Full Seasons of The Event, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Outsourced
Hot on the heels of the full season upgrade for Chuck, NBC announced today via press release that they have now ordered full seasons for three of their newest TV series. The hour-long drama The Event, the half-hour comedy Outsourced and the legal drama spin-off Law & Order: Los Angeles all had their stay on NBC extended for at least one full season. Network president Angela Bromstad said, ““We are pleased with the quality of The Event, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Outsourced, and feel they are an important part of helping to re-build our schedule and our studio pipeline. We believe in these new series and the creative auspices behind them.” Honestly, I feel almost the exact opposite way. The Event is a gimmick without substance and Outsourced is one of the worst comedy series I’ve ever seen . However, I’m rather indifferent on Law & Order: Los Angeles. You...

'Outsourced': Getting Drunk, Blacking Out, and Getting Naked (Video)
Outsourced (2010)

Todd Dempsy is living thousands of miles from home. On the new sitcom 'Outsourced', Todd (Ben Rappaport) has been downsized from his job in the United States, and then transferred to a new office in Mumbai, India. And the thing about living in a foreign country is that sometimes, you're just glad to hang out with anyone who speaks the same language as you.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

Which explains why Todd spends time with his annoying co-worker Charlie (Diedrich Bader). During the latest episode (Wed., 9:30Pm Et on NBC), Todd learns that Charlie has a crush on Tonya (Pippa Black) -- yet another expatriate who is living in India. It's easy to understand why someone would have the hots for Tonya. She's beautiful and she's Australian, which means that she has one of those cool "Aussie" accents.

Outsourced: NBC’s New Sitcom Angers; Cancel or Keep It?
It's not often that a new show gets some people so angry before it even airs but NBC's new TV show, Outsourced, certainly rubs some people the wrong way. Did that hurt the ratings? Will it be quickly cancelled or become a long-term staple of NBC's Thursday night line-up?

Outsourced follows a Us sales manager, Todd Dempsey (Ben Rappaport), who's assigned to supervise his company's call center in India. The new sitcom also stars Anisha Nagarajan, Diedrich Bader, Parvesh Cheena, Pippa Black, Rebecca Hazelwood, Rizwan Manji, and Sacha Dhawan.

Some people have expressed resentment over the show's theme, especially considering this country's struggling economy and unemployment problem. Others maintain that the show's intent is to show how offices are the same, regardless of where they're located.

In its first week on the air, Outsourced attracted a 3.6 in the 18-49...

TV Review: ‘Outsourced’ is Latest 5-Star Addition to NBC Thursday
Chicago – It seems that NBC is getting some of their “Must See TV” mojo back, after adding the hilarious “Community” to the Thursday night comedy line-up last year and debuting the equally stellar “Outsourced’ this year, which premieres September 23rd at 8:30pm Cst.

Television Rating: 5.0/5.0

The timing on this show is auspicious, as America still copes with the outsourcing of jobs to far-flung places such as India. Here it is the familiar call center, where a joke items and novelties company from Kansas City has moved all of their order facilities. It is a fresh faced American manager named Todd (Ben Rappaport) that is called upon to get the new Indian office to produce, and there are nice levels of satire, humor and heart in a pilot chock full of laughs.

Todd is definitely a fish out of water as he assesses and sizes up his new charges. His...

Ben Rappaport and Anisha Nagarajan Talk Outsourced
Ben Rappaport and Anisha Nagarajan takes us behind-the-scenes of NBC's latest Must-See comedy

NBC's latest addition to its Must-See Thursday night comedy line-up is Outsourced, a new sitcom where the Midwest meets the exotic East in a hilarious culture clash. The series centers on the all-American company Mid America Novelties that sells whoopee cushions, foam fingers and wallets made of bacon -- and whose call center has suddenly been outsourced to India. Todd Dempsy (Ben Rappaport) is the new company's manager who learns that he's being transferred to India to run the operation.

To celebrate the series' Pilot premiere, which airs Thursday, September 23rd at 9:30 pm, we caught up with star Ben Rappaport , his co-star Anisha Nagarajan, and Executive Producer Robert Borden. Here is our conversation:

Ben I was wondering what made you want to be a part of this show?

TV Watch: Outsourced Pilot Episode!
Outsourced? Boo!

Outsourced premieres on NBC Thursday, September 23rd New Series. Episode 1.01: Pilot premiers September 23rd, 9:30/8:30 central. Series airs Thursday Nights at 9:30/8:30 central on NBC

Those who've devoted their time to watching Parks and Recreation grow into one of the smartest, funniest episodic sitcoms on broadcast television over the past two years may be predisposed to contractually hate NBC for replacing it with Outsourced. Just as Thursday night's Must See TV kicks back into high gear for fall of 2010.

Sure, at first, it was easy to despise Parks and Recreation for being an Office clone, shot in that increasingly disreputable mockumentary format. The two shows had their similarities, but Parks and Recreation soon proved weird enough to garner our undying attention. In its second season, it flourished, breaking out of the dense shadow of its comedic predecessor.

There isn't one actor on that show who...

'Outsourced': NBC preps for post-Carell era with Indian 'Office'
You've probably already heard of "Outsourced," NBC's latest addition to its Thursday sitcom block, but not for the best reasons. It swiped the "30 Rock" timeslot and bumped "Parks and Recreation" to midseason. Clearly, the culprit warrants a closer look.

Disclaimer: These posts are not reviews -- shows often make tweaks to their pilot episodes between filming in the spring and their fall debuts. Full reviews will come closer to the premiere date.

What it is: Adapted from a 2006 romantic comedy motion picture of the same name, "Outsourced" follows Todd Dempsy (Ben Rappaport) from Kansas City to Mumbai when the entire staff at his novelty gift company is fired and their inexpensive replacements at an Indian call center need a Western manager. Cultural gaffes are scheduled to ensue 9:30 p.m. Et Thursdays.

Who's making it: Executive producer and pilot director Ken Kwapis has an enviable TV resume, having been on...

Vine admits to 'Neighbours' confusion
Tim Vine in Tim Vine: So I Said to This Bloke... (2008)
Tim Vine has admitted that he was unfamiliar with the latest crop of Neighbours stars when he made his cameo appearance on the programme. The comedian filmed a short scene for the show last April while in Australia for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Vine's soap debut saw him playing a tourist who asked Elle Robinson (Pippa Black) and Lucas Fitzgerald (Scott Major) for directions to the Lassiters hotel, but he has now confessed that he had never heard of either character before. Reflecting on the experience, Vine told Den of Geek: "The funny thing about it was that I didn't know the characters. I haven't watched it for so long, (more)...

'Neighbours' stars film music video
Neighbours stars Pippa Black and Sweeney Young have appeared in the new film clip for former Australian Idol contestant Jacob Butler. The pair, who played Ramsay Street residents Elle Robinson and Riley Parker respectively, star as a young couple in "the classic story of love gone wrong" in the clip for Butler's new single 'Coma'. "I really love the track, that's why I got on board," said Black. "I've never appeared in a video clip before so it's nice to be involved in something with really relatable lyrics. I think the scenes that we shot are really dramatic and quite emotive with the music." On working with Young again, the 26-year-old, who recently announced that she is quitting Neighbours, added: (more)...
