Overview

  • Born
    January 21, 1982 · USA

Biography

    • Robby Garber's early life and upbringing was less than pleasant. He grew up in a rough home life. A lot of that reflects in his scripts and short stories.

In his late teens and early twenties, Garber acted in professional short films while attending college classes. He was usually cast as the gangster, the roughneck, the bad guy, and many people who attended screenings of the films believed he was truly a mean hear-ted person. However, when approached and fans spoke to him they discovered he was the opposite of his on screen tough guy persona.

Garber after a short time decided to leave acting as he was tired of being typecast. It wasn't until his talents were rediscovered first by Lillo Brancato Jr who assisted Garber in his sobriety and challenged Garber to use his talents of short film making in his recovery and then by Richard Burgin that he decided to pursue both acting and film making again. The short film Garber made caught the attention of Richard and the two talked about making the short into a full length film. They both hope when the film is completed that audiences will both shocked and amazed at the same time.

Quotes

  • It is truly an exciting moment in my life to see some of my work being made into a movie. I was thrilled to have two of my favorite actors join the cast for Operation EX-I-33!
  • My experience working with Dan Berkey on Operation EX-I-33 has been a memorable experience. My past experiences as an actor has been to meet other cast members and move on, however, I have formed a long lasting friendship with Dan which has been a blessing. Dan is a great actor and proud to call him a friend.
  • My experience working with Janet Keijser has been extraordinary! She is an amazing person, great actress, and when she accepted the role of co-writer on Operation EX-I-33 she came up with some amazing additional scenes she wrote. This is another friendship I will always be grateful for and cherish.
  • Making a movie is not as easy as it looks. It is more complex than assembling a cast together and saying "lights, camera, action!" It can at times be very frustrating as well as sometimes difficult to remember all of your dialogue in the scenes you're filming. Perhaps the most frustrating part is getting the funding for the film, especially when you are an independent filmmaker. In the end it was worth all of the sleepless nights and hard work put into it all.
  • I personally feel that movies, not all, but many movies have portrayed mental illnesses inaccurately and have given the general public a bad image of people who suffer from mental health conditions. I myself have bipolar disorder and feel that the fear and misunderstandings people have of people with mental illnesses have been a result of what they have seen in the movies. I do hope to help change the way people view mental health conditions with the movies I bring to people.
