Lifetime’s ‘Stepmom from Hell’ Spoils the Reveal [Review]
Image
Spoilers are an odd beast for most Lifetime films. Few, if any, titles actually try to surprise audience with a killer reveal. More often than not there are twists, but the joy of watching these made-for-tv films is the journey to the big showdown.

It’s frustrating then, that Stepmom from Hell fully spoils its own ending with a completely on the nose title. As written by Hamish Briggs, Daniel Kautz, Nathanael Lirio and Elizabeth Snoderly, the embezzling-turned-murder mystery film definitely features a number of red herrings and twists en route to its climax, so the dead obvious title betrays the writers’ intentions.

As directed by Corbin Timbrook, the film follows Izzy Thompson (Lexi Giovagnoli), a hyper competent businesswoman struggling to launch a dog-related app in the shadow of her famous businessman. Jack Thompson (Lorenzo Lamas) has a thirty year legacy and he would much prefer that Izzy inherit his...

Quiver Distribution brings their own Gacy movie to the table this week, with Gacy: Serial Killer Next Door now available on VOD.

John Wayne Gacy
Real-life serial killer John Wayne Gacy has been the subject of a handful of horror movies over the years, played by Brian Dennehy in To Catch a Killer (1992), Mark Holton in Gacy (2003), and William Forsythe in Dear Mr. Gacy (2010). And then there’s 2010’s Dahmer vs. Gacy (yeah…) and the same year’s 8213: Gacy House, the latter a found footage horror movie.

Avarice (2011) Movie Trailer: Matthew Schilling, Brad Dourif, Kevin Sorbo
The Avarice Movie Trailer has premiered. Matthew Schilling‘s Avarice (2011) stars Brad Dourif, Kevin Sorbo, Ray Park, Jason London, and Natassia Malthe. Avarice‘s plot synopsis: “A mysterious box from space lands in the desert; it holds the power to grant anyone’s desires, but at a deadly cost. When a group of strangers are brought together by their most desperate desires, they will unwittingly release the evil darkness lurking inside.” Avarice looks like a mixture of more than a few action films in one. A western, Justified, The Box, etc. I haven’t seen Natassia Malthe in a film in some time. If you are ignorant of who Natassia Malthe is, look at this post: Uwe Boll Petition. It looks like she is only in a flashback in the film. Avarice also stars Patricia Richardson, Tinsel Korey, Laura Spencer, Kelcie Stranahan, Shelby Janes, Will Rolland, and Rudy Alvarado. I...
