Horror Film ‘Beasts of Prey,’ Led by ‘Oddity’ Star Carolyn Bracken, Launching Sales at AFM With Italy’s PiperFilm (Exclusive)
Image
New Italian company PiperFilm is launching sales at AFM on English-language psychological horror film “Beasts of Prey” starring Carolyn Bracken. The Irish actor recently broke out playing the blind protagonist of Damian McCarthy’s chiller “Oddity.”

In the previously announced film, Bracken plays a rich art collector whose life is shattered by a tragic event. “Destroyed by this unbearable pain, an instinctive and primordial nature awakens in her that will lead her to destroy her privileged life and build a new idea of family,” says the provided synopsis.

The film is also described as a “complex and thrilling story about the never-ending struggle between the rational and the animal side of human nature.”

Cameras are rolling in Italy’s northern regions of Lombardy and Piedmont on “Beasts of Prey,” which also stars veteran character actress Caroline Goodall. The film is directed by Italian first-timer Andrea Corsini. “Beasts of Prey” is...

Carolyn Bracken, who plays the blind protagonist of Damian McCarthy’s recent chiller “Oddity,” and veteran character actress Caroline Goodall are set to star in Italian director Andrea Corsini’s psychological horror film “Beasts of Prey.”

Cameras recently started rolling in Italy’s northern regions of Lombardy and Piedmont on the English-language “Beasts of Prey,” which is being described as a “complex and thrilling story about the never-ending struggle between the rational and the animal side of human nature” in promotional materials.

“Beasts of Prey,” which is Corsini’s first feature, expands on the director’s short by the same title — about a strange woman who lives in an abandoned villa on the edge of a wild forest — that launched from the 2019 Venice Film Festival’s Critics’ Week.

“The life of a rich art collector is shattered by a tragic event. Destroyed by this unbearable pain, an instinctive and primordial...

Efp launches new producer initiative
Fabian Gasmia
European Film Promotion (Efp) has launched a new initiative, Producers Lab Hamburg (Plh), bringing producers from across Europe to meet with their Hamburg-based opposite numbers.

The event’s two-day programme (Oct 1-2) during this year’s Filmfest Hamburg will include seminars, pitching sessions, one-to-one meetings and a Hamburg location tour.

The ten European producers coming to Hamburg are drawn from the pool of Efp’s former Producers on the Move, including the UK’s Isabelle Stead (Human Films), Luxembourg’s Donata Rotunno (Tarantula), Norway’s Silje Hopland Eik (Cinenord Kidstory) and Spain’s Antonio Saura (Zampa Audiovisual).

Stead will be coming to Hamburg after having taken part in the fifth edition of the Producers Lab Toronto, while Rotunno is now developing Yilmaz Arslan’s new project Raqs after producing his last film Fratricide and is also looking for German partners for his own third feature film Sara Sarà.

Eik has produced and co-produced more than 20 feature films and...
