Exclusive: Domina and The Terror actor Matthew McNulty has joined Sky’s supernatural crime thriller The Rising. McNulty replaced actor Daniel Ings in pre-production with filming ongoing in the UK on the series.

Clara Rugaard, the Danish actress who starred in Netflix’s I Am Mother, leads cast on the series inspired by Belgian drama Hotel Beau Séjour. The eight-part series is the first Sky drama produced entirely in-house by Sky Studios.

Syfy has canceled its Superman-prequel “Krypton” after two seasons, while also deciding not to move forward with its “Lobo” spinoff, TheWrap has learned.

Both “Krypton” and “Lobo” were from Warner Horizon, which will shop “Krypton” to other outlets, an individual with knowledge of the discussions tells TheWrap. “Krypton,” which centered on Superman’s grandfather, wrapped its second season on Wednesday. The network was also developing a spinoff around the bounty-hunter Lobo, who made his debut this season.

“Krypton” took place about 200 years before Superman existed and centers on his grandfather and his quest to save his planet from destruction.

Cameron Cuffe starred as Seg-El, while Emmett J. Scanlan played Lobo.

“Krypton” also starred Georgina Campbell, Shaun Sipos, Colin Salmon, Ann Ogbomo, Aaron Pierre, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Blake Ritson and Ian McElhinney. Krypton was executive produced by David S. Goyer, alongside Cameron Welsh, who served as showrunner.

There will be no more Krypton on Syfy. The network has opted not to renew the Superman origin drama series, and the recent Season 2 finale August 14 was a series finale on the NBCUniversal cable network. With the mothership series getting canceled, Syfy also won’t be proceeding with the previously announced Lobo spinoff, which had been in development.

I hear Krypton producer Warner Horizon Scripted Television is in conversations with other outlets, exploring ways to continue the franchise based on DC characters elsewhere. Siblings DC Universe and the upcoming HBO Max streaming platform are considered the most logical options as DC content has been a focus for both. Past seasons of Krypton already run on DC Universe. Season 1 is currently streaming on DC Universe, with Season 2 coming in 2020.

Even though Dru’s last name is Zod, this week on Krypton, the general is quite Vexed. Meanwhile, Lyta returns with a captivating hero’s journey, which just so happens to involve the Black Mercy parasitic alien plant from the comics.

First up, can we talk about Zod’s management style in “Mercy”? He threatens a lot in shades of Darth Vader, but he’s having a bit of a Skeletor moment (a la “Why do I surround myself with fools??!!”) when all of his employees are kind of sucking at the job.

The main man is the main attraction this week on Krypton, as the second episode of the season features a whole lot of the alien bounty hunter, and leaves the audience wanting more.

Emmett J. Scanlan is a thrill to watch in “Ghost in the Fire,” and I say this as someone who is not a particularly big Lobo fan, and did not have a heckuva lot of enthusiasm to see him in live action. Now, I am all in for the recently announced spinoff series (although Syfy should have announced it following the airing of this excellent character showcase).

If you're a fan of the Superman prequel series Krypton, you'll be happy to hear that the Syfy Channel has renewed it for a second season! I'm a little behind with the series, but I've liked what I've seen from it! It may not be the best series on TV but it's certainly good and interesting enough to hold on my attention.

Adam Strange, created by editor Julius Schwartz and illustrator Murphy Anderson, debuted in DC Comics' "Showcase" #17 (November 1958).

We've got a new promo spot here for you to watch for SyFy's upcoming DC series Krypton, which I'm actually pretty excited about seeing. I love the concept of the show because it explores a part of the superman lore that has never really been explored before. This new promo heavily centers on saving the legacy of Superman before he's even born and his iconic red cape is the main feature of the trailer.

The newest television series from DC and Warner Bros. Now has a premiere date for the prequel to all things Superman.

Before Kal-El was even a twinkle in his father Jor-El’s eye there was the planet Krypton. And before we get to Jor-El we have the story of Seg-El, Jor-El’s father and the grand pappy of the Man of Steel. Seg-El is in his twenties with the house of El ostracized from society who in the face of this still fights for his planet. March 21st is when you’re going to be able to finally see this series set to debut on Syfy. Now I have made jokes that this is going to be like watching the Titanic movie but with the time set so far from the destruction of Krypton, sorry for the spoilers, I think there’s an opportunity for some original story telling and...

Just last week we were treated to a new promo spot for DC's upcoming SyFy series Krypton. I'm actually kind of excited about this series because it deals with Kal-El's family history on the planet Krypton. This is an aspect of the Superman mythology that we've never really seen played with before.

Today we've learned from KryptonSite that the series will premiere in March of 2018 and they also revealed a new synopsis that has been released, and what's interesting about it is that it hints at a time travel plot device:

"Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, Krypton follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray, Seg-El encounters Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who warns he’s under the clock to save his beloved world from chaos.

It’s been a long time coming, but Syfy has finally narrowed Krypton‘s premiere window to March of 2018.

At least, that’s according to a report unearthed by KryptonSite (with a tip of the hat to ComicBook.com). Sadly, there’s no mention of a concrete premiere date just yet, but we do have a new and indeed extended synopsis for you to peruse, which tees up a superheroic family drama anchored by Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, Kal-El’s grandfather.

If you’ve been keeping tracking of Krypton‘s prolonged development cycle, you’ll know that the freshman drama has been angled as a prequel series, one that will seemingly “branch time and space.” There’s also a new interpretation of Brainiac to look forward to, considering Blake Ritson has been cast as the “parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence.”

Syfy’s upcoming prequel series Krypton is set to explore the political and social troubles of Superman’s home planet two generations before it was destroyed, with the show following Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, Kal-El’s grandfather. It’s going to make the most out of having the cosmic side of the DC universe at its disposal, too, as it’s bringing in a few familiar faces. Previously, Shaun Sipos was cast as space-based hero Adam Strange, while another interesting character we were told to expect was Brainiac, a major foe of the Man of Steel’s in the comics.

Now, Deadline is reporting that Krypton has found someone to play the villain: Blake Ritson, most known for his role on Starz’s Da Vinci’s Demons. As Comic-Con kicked off in earnest on Thursday, Syfy traveled across the galaxy to land on Superman’s home planet.

In the “Krypton” sneak peek teaser below, the action takes place two generations before the Man of Steel was born and the titular planet was destroyed. Seyg-El (Cameron Cuffe) is his grandfather, seen here as a young man who looks to be in his 20s.

Although Superman, born Kal-El, is a hero to us mere humans, his family didn’t enjoy that kind of appreciation. The House of El was ostracized and shamed, and it was up to Seyg-El to fight to redeem his family’s honor and save his world.

That isn’t the only house name we may recognize. Among the cast are also Georgina Campbell (“Broadchurch”) and Ann Ogbomo, who play Lyta Zod and Alura Zod, respectively.

When you take a moment to combine the current roster of Marvel and DC-related TV shows – both on air and in the pipeline – you’ll no doubt uncover a treasure trove of costumed crusaders.
