Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton Morgan to Star in ‘One Tree Hill’ Sequel in the Works at Netflix
Image
Netflix is eyeing a return to Tree Hill.

The streamer is in early development on a sequel series to the former CW mainstay One Tree Hill. Hilarie Burton Morgan and Sophia Bush are set to reprise their roles from that series and will also serve as executive producers alongside their former co-star Danneel Ackles.

Warner Bros. Television, which produced One Tree Hill, is also behind the potential sequel. Becky Hartman Edwards (Firefly Lane) is writing the follow-up.

Wbtv and Netflix declined to comment.

One Tree Hill aired for nine seasons on The WB and The CW, following the lives of a group of high schoolers and, following a four-year time jump midway through the show’s run, young adults in a fictional North Carolina town.

In addition to Bush, Burton Morgan and Ackles, the show’s cast also featured James Lafferty, Chad Michael Murray, Bethany Joy Lenz, Paul Johansson, Lee Norris and Antwon Tanner.

Hilarie Burton Says Chad Michael Murray Stood Up For Her Against ‘One Tree Hill’ Creator Amid Alleged Assault
Image
Hilarie Burton has recounted how her One Tree Hill costar Chad Michael Murray defended her against the show’s creator and showrunner Mark Schwahn during an alleged assault.

Speaking on the Drama Queens podcast, Burton recalled the incident which took place while the teen drama was on location in Honey Grove, Texas in 2007.

She told her cohosts and former One Tree Hill costars, Sophia Bush and Bethany Joy Lenz, “Chad walked up and goes, ‘What are you doing?’ He said that to our boss in the bar… He watched our boss grab me in front of a lot of people, and you know, Chad didn’t have anything to lose cause he knew our boss hated him anyway.” She continued, “A lot of people had a lot to lose, so you don’t speak up when you have a lot to lose. But (our boss) felt so comfortable that that...

From ‘Moon Knight’ to ‘Everything Everywhere,’ Director Duos Dazzle — and Draw DGA Scrutiny (Column)
Image
Forget the Oscars. If you’re serious about staying on top of current cinema, you already realize this weekend’s big movie event is in theaters: “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” in which Michelle Yeoh plays a woman coming to terms with her life in multiple dimensions, marks the latest unclassifiable blend of anarchic poignance that Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert first unleashed with “Swiss Army Man.”

Daniels (they’d prefer we drop the “The”) are one of two filmmaking duos with new work out this week, as siblings Adam and Aaron Nee release their first studio effort “The Lost City” from Paramount. Some of the most beloved filmmakers working today include the Safdie brothers, the Russo brothers, and Phil Lord and Chris Miller; cineastes mourned at the Coen brothers’ breakup, but many have stepped up to fill the void. However, for the DGA, two is not better than one.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 10 Review: I Can Work With You
It is all rainbows and flowers until someone overhears your happy news and makes us all as conflicted as ever.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend deserves major props for their ability to make us care about both sides of a love triangle equally, but what happens when a choice gets made?

That is definitely where the whole "why choose" conversation comes in because that is the real dilemma in all of this.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 10, Rebecca babysits Hebecca and through it connects more with her.

But it is when Greg comes over that the two finally talk about their feelings and get together officially.

Meanwhile, Nathaniel and Josh bond while trying to win the game night.

The night takes a turn though when Nathaniel overhears Rebecca filling Paula in on how happy she is to be with Greg again.

And Paula is secretly celebrating her graduating law school until she finally...

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 2 Review: I Am Ashamed
There is nothing quite like the spirit of Halloween to bring out all the cute baby costumes, the classic séance, and some memorable songs that serve as a reminder that the show is killing it.

Pun intended.

During Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 4 Episode 2, Rebecca had an article written about her that turned into her being unable to leave the house.

All the while, Nathaniel returned to work only to find out that he wasn't in charge the way he thought he would be. And Darryl is on a search for breast milk, only to find the validation that he deserves.

It is all set up under the context of Halloween, creating a theme throughout the entire episode that adds to the comedic factor that the show always has going for it.

"I Am Ashamed," written by Erin Ehrlich and directed by both Audrey Wauchope and Rachel Specter, was perfectly structured to...

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015)
DGA Accused of Bias Against Female Directing Teams by ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ Director
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015)
“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” writer-producer Audrey Wauchope has accused the Directors Guild of America of bias against female directing teams.

Wauchope leveled the assertions Friday in the wake of longtime partner Rachel Specter not receiving directing credit for co-directing Friday’s segment with Wauchope.

The DGA had no comment Friday, citing its policy of not commenting on internal matters. The CW, which has aired the four seasons of the comedy series, had no comment. Wauchope unveiled the accusations in a series of tweets.

“My #FemaleFilmmakerFriday goes out to my co-Director on tonight’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend episode @RachelSpecter,” she tweeted. “Rachel and I are a lifelong writing/directing team but due to a decision by the DGA which completely erases her from our work, she’s not credited on tonight’s episode.”

The DGA has a longtime “one director to a film” policy aimed at protecting the director’s creative vision. It does...

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015)
‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ Director Says DGA ‘Completely Erased’ Her Partner’s Contributions
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2015)
“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” writer Audrey Wauchope says her partner Rachel Specter will not be credited on their directorial debut due to a DGA bias against female directing teams.

“My #FemaleFilmmakerFriday goes out to my co-Director on tonight’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend episode @RachelSpecter. Rachel and I are a lifelong writing/directing team but due to a decision by the DGA which completely erases her from our work, she’s not credited on tonight’s episode,” Wauchope wrote on Twitter on Friday.

According to Director’s Guild rules, only one director can be credited on a project, with “few exceptions” made for “bona fide teams,” which a post on the DGA website defines as teams who “learned how to direct together, by actually doing it, and have, therefore, demonstrated that they perform the director’s duties as if they were actually one director.”

Cougar Town Ep. 5.08 “Mystery of Love” is a largely forgettable episode
Cougar Town Season 5, Episode 8 “Mystery of Love”

Written by Rachel Specter & Audrey Wauchope

Directed by Courteney Cox

Airs Tuesday nights at 10pm Et on TBS

For the most part, Cougar Town‘s fifth season has strayed away from digging into Travis and Laurie’s relationship, focusing more on hijinks with the Cul de Sac and the normal carousel of Bobby/Andy stories – and without a whole lot of wine drinking, I might add. Oddly enough, when Cougar Town did finally decide to explore Travis and Laurie’s budding relationship in “Mystery of Love”, they did it by barely showing them, instead focusing on Jules and her neurotic, made-up Competition of Love with the new, cute couple.

And boy, does it take a lot of annoying Jules to finally get to the point of the episode; but when it does, they do so with a nice twist, with Laurie and Travis...

Cougar Town Ep 4.09 ‘Make It Better’ is a tale of two episodes
Cougar Town Season 4, Episode 9 ‘Make It Better’

Directed by Courteney Cox

Written by Rachel Specter & Audrey Wauchope

Airs Thursdays at 10 pm (Est) on TBS

‘Make It Better’ is equal parts silly and sentimental, an episode about the different ‘slippery slopes’ in life, be it mortality, relationships, or the morality of sex robots. It doesn’t really find its rhythm until those final sequences – and although it’s quite a tonal change when it does, boy does it take off in those final scenes.

Some of it is expected – we all know Travis is not a playa (“no R”) and it was only a matter of time before Laurie and Wade’s ‘beautiful’ relationship came crashing to the ground. If there’s anything to gain from all the sex robot talk and Grayson acting a fool, it’s seeing Bobby hand out legitimate fatherly advice to Travis. It’s a quiet moment,...

Emily Blunt in Engagement Games
She’s young, lovely and very talented, and she’s best known from titles like The Devil Wears Prada, Wind Chill, Dan In Real Life, Charlie Wilson’s War and The Wolf Man.

But now, Emily Blunt reportedly circling a new comedy project titled Engagement Games.

As you see, another movie that already sounds interesting…but only as a bad joke.

Here’s the description: “a comedy about three sisters who get engaged at once and will stop at nothing to get their mother’s wedding ring.

The father then apparently arranges some form of “Family Olympics” in order to determine who will get the ring.” Yeah, well.

Penned by Rachel Specter (“Just Go With It”) and Audrey Wauchope (“Breaking Upwards”), Engagement Games has no director attached yet, but we definitely expect to hear someone experienced in the romantic-comedy genre to come on board soon.

So, if anyone’s interested,...

Emily Blunt to Play Engagement Games
Emily Blunt to play Engagement GamesEmily Blunt has signed on to star in Engagement Games (previously known as Wedding Games), according to Pajiba.

The comedy centers on three sisters who get engaged at once and will stop at nothing to get their mother's wedding ring. The dad settles the dispute with a game of "Family Olympics."

Columbia is developing the movie, based on a script from Rachel Specter and Audrey Alison Wauchope.

No production date has been set.

Emily Blunt's attachment means there's two brides-to-be yet to be attached. Who would you like to see compete for mom's wedding ring? And as far as grooms go, this movie screams, or perhaps just needs, Zach Galifianakis.

Emily Blunt Attached to Engagement Games
Emily Blunt (The Young Victoria) is attached to star in Engagement Games which, true, sounds like yet another wedding comedy. And in all likelihood, it will be. But the premise is splendidly wacky enough to be… something. Pajiba describes Games as “a comedy about three sisters who get engaged at once and will stop at nothing to get their mother’s wedding ring”; the father sets up a “Family Olympics” to determine who gets the ring. Rachel Specter and Audrey Wauchope, who currently have only acting credits on their resumes, penned the script for Columbia.

If Blunt signs on, who do you like for the sister roles? Amy Adams? Isla Fisher? I see Anna Kendrick in this for some reason. Blunt will next appear in the Jack Black comedy Gulliver’s Travels on December 22nd, followed by the sci-fi thriller The Adjustment Bureau on March 4, 2011.

Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson in Bride Wars (2009)
Move over Bride Wars, you have competition. The film is Engagement Games (previously titled Wedding Games), and it's a comedy about "three sisters who get engaged at once and will stop at nothing to get their mother’s wedding ring." But wait, there's more! "The dad settles the dispute with a game of 'Family Olympics.'" Why as talented an actress as Emily Blunt would lower herself to star in such a film, I'm not sure, but I hope she's getting a big paycheck out of it. Pajiba reports that the movie is being developed by Columbia, with a script written by Rachel Specter and Audrey Wauchope, both of whom are actresses with no former writing credits to their name. Might I suggest another title, one which better suits Hollywood's perverse desire for gimmicky wordplay? Columbia, I present to you: Rules of EnGAMEment. Yes, yes, I know. No need to thank me.

Emily Blunt Is Attached To Comedy Caper Engagement Games
After recently getting hitched to The Office: An American Workplace star John Krasinski herself, Emily Blunt will be back in the dress playing a bride to be in her next film, Engagement Games.

Pajiba reports that the premise of the film is that three sisters, all unluckily getting engaged at once, are each determined to get their mothers cherished wedding ring for themselves. With none of them willing to back down responsibility falls to their father to choose. His solution is to hold a .Family Olympics' and to let the sisters compete for the ring.

Rachel Specter and Audrey Wauchope wrote the script and Columbia is developing it. Little else has been revealed so far but you can count on us to keep you updated!

Fox joins group therapy with comedy
Todd Grinnell
Fox has some abandonment issues.

The network has inked a first-look deal for "Living With Abandon," an independently produced single-camera comedy pilot.

Written by Richie Keen and Heath Corson ("Hooked") and directed by Keen, "Abandon" stars Todd Grinnell, Ed Quinn, Melissa Peterman, Rachel Specter and 14-year-old Nick Dodani as the members of an abandonment support group who suffer a blow when their therapist commits suicide. Left to fend for themselves, the members band together to solve each other's issues.

"This is a show about the family that we all chose in life," Keen said. "This is a group of people who wouldn't normally know each other but chose to be each other's family."

Keen is executive producing "Abandon," with Michael Binkow and Joe Revello serving as co-exec producers and Corson as supervising producer.

Keen and Corson originally took the idea for "Abandon" to Fox 21, where they had a script deal...

Hanks leads rush into Faris' Columbia project
Colin Hanks has joined the cast of the untitled Anna Faris project for Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison.

Also joining the movie are Monet Mazur, Kiely Williams of The Cheetah Girls, All-American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter, Owen Benjamin, Rachel Specter and Beverly D'Angelo.

The script, by Legally Blonde scribes Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, centers on a Playboy bunny (Faris) who gets kicked out of the Playboy Mansion and becomes the house mother to the lamest sorority on a college campus.

Hanks is the male lead in the film, playing Faris' love interest.

Rachel Specter at an event for The House Bunny (2008)
Rachel Specter, Brendan Miller, Anna Osceola, John Keefe, Jeffrey Christopher Todd and Jocelin Donahue have enrolled in the Comedy Central pilot Not Another High School Show.

The six relative newcomers comprise the ensemble cast of the project, a spoof of teen TV dramas that's from Sony Pictures Television and executive producers Mike Bender, Neal Moritz and Joel Gallen (Not Another Teen Movie). The project will spoof shows ranging from Dawson's Creek to Buffy the Vampire Slayer to The O.C.

It's understood that the producers wanted to cast fresh faces in the roles of the archetypal teen characters.

The High School pilot begins shooting Saturday in Los Angeles.

Specter's credits include the indie My Sexiest Year opposite Frankie Muniz as well as HBO's Entourage, CBS' How I Met Your Mother, WB Network's What I Like About You and Nickelodeon's "Drake & Josh." She is repped by Ryan Daly and Mara Santino at KSA and managed by Adam Griffin.
