Just a week after its Season 1 finale aired, J.J. Abrams and Latoya Morgan’s 1970s crime series “Duster” has been canceled by HBO Max.

The series, which was a collaboration between Bad Robot, TinkerToy Productions and Warner Bros. Television, starred Josh Holloway as a getaway driver and Rachel Hilson as an FBI agent who team up to take down a powerful crime syndicate.

In a statement, HBO Max said that while it would not move forward with a second season, it was “so grateful” to have had the chance to work with Abrams, Morgan and Bad Robot.

“We are tremendously proud of this series led by Josh Holloway and Rachel Hilson and we thank them along with our cast and crew for their incredible collaboration and partnership,” the streamer added.

The news comes less than a week after the show aired the Season 1 finale, with “Duster” having originally premiered on the streamer in May. The series starred Josh Holloway and Rachel Hilson and hailed from co-creators and executive producers Latoya Morgan and J.J. Abrams.

“While HBO Max will not be moving forward with a second season of ‘Duster,’ we are so grateful to have had the chance to work with the amazingly talented co-creators J.J. Abrams and Latoya Morgan, and our partners at Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television,” HBO Max said in a statement. We are tremendously proud of this series led by Josh Holloway and Rachel Hilson and we thank them along with our cast and crew for their incredible collaboration and partnership.”

The series from Warner Bros. and Abrams’ studio-based Bad Robot also remains in the daily Top 10 on HBO Max but it has not been able to get into the Nielsen Top 10 for streaming originals and barely cracked Luminate’s list of Top 50 streaming originals in its fourth week at the last #50 spot.

The HBO Max thriller series Duster has been impressing the critics since premiering on streaming earlier this month. After two episodes, the show has been maintaining a near-perfect score with the critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Currently, Duster has an approval rating of 92%, labeling the show as Certified Fresh. Its audience score is also strong, sitting at 81%. The new series, a crime drama set in the early 1970s, is noted to not be without its flaws by critics. Even so, almost every critic is satisfied with the series, with many describing it as a fun throwback to the kinds of movies that are from the era.

We got word that filming was set to get underway on the second season of Ahsoka last week during Star Wars Celebration Japan, and star Rosario Dawson has now announced that cameras are officially rolling with our first behind-the-scenes production photo.

The shot isn't especially revealing, but it's clear from the shadow that Dawson is in full Ahsoka mode here.

In many ways, Ahsoka served as a live-action fifth season of Star Wars Rebels, and season 2 looks set to introduce even more elements from the fan-favorite animated series, with Zeb Orrelios (presumably voiced by Steve Blum) set to join Ezra (Eman Esfandi), Hera (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Sabine (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and Chopper the droid as the Og crew of The Ghost.

The Star Wars Celebration event in Japan dropped tons of big news for fans of the sci-fi franchise. A Darth Maul animated series was announced along with other animated series, Star Wars: Starfighter, Shawn Levy's movie starring Ryan Gosling was announced, and more.

Confirming rumors that have been doing the rounds for quite a while, Hayden Christensen announced that he will return as Anakin Skywalker for the 8-episode second season of Ahsoka during the Disney+ show's Star Wars Celebration panel in Tokyo, Japan.

Christensen reprised his iconic Star Wars prequels role in the first season, appearing to his former Padawan Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) when she became trapped in the "World Between Worlds" after a lightsaber duel with Baylan Skoll (the late Ray Stevenson). Anakin served as a spirit guide, of a sort, forcing Ahsoka to confront her past and (potential) future.

Skywalker returned as a Force Ghost (presumably) in the season finale, watching over Ahsoka on Peridea.

In the season 1 finale of Ahsoka, several characters were left stranded on Peridia when Grand Admiral Thrawn and his Nightsisters escaped with Ezra Bridger stowing away on their ship.

With former Jedi Baylan Skoll (the late Ray Stevenson) setting off on his own to discover the secrets of the planet, his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) is left to battle Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo).

Shin survives, and we last see her approaching a group of bandits with her lightsaber raised, seemingly as a gesture of surrender.

Hati's intentions were not fully made clear, but a short passage from the upcoming Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy book reveals that she does indeed join forces with these bandits before continuing her crusade to bring down Ahsoka and her allies.

“The Good Daughter” limited series adaptation at Peacock has added four new series regulars, Variety has learned.

Olivia Williams, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Drew Cheek have all joined the series, which is based on the Karin Slaughter novel of the same name.

Discussing reuniting with Holloway on a new project, Abrams told The Hollywood Reporter he called Holloway five years ago with a very specific question. “‘Would you ever want to do a show where you play a driver for some kind of criminal organization?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah.’ So the whole time we were writing this, it was always with Josh in mind. He’s someone I just love working with. And with age, I think he’s gotten even more comfortable with his wry swagger and toughness, and also vulnerability and being unsure of himself. It’s a tough balancing act.

First reported by Jeff Sneider and later confirmed by THR, Scottish actor Rory McCann, best known for playing The Hound on HBO’s Game of Thrones, is set to take over as Skoll in season 2 of the Disney+ Star Wars series.

Stevenson, who sadly died back in May of 2023 just before his 58th birthday, played the villainous(?) former Jedi in the series, and the finale featured his last scene as the character, as we see the powerful Force-wielder standing on the ruins of a mountain-sized sculpture of the Mortis gods.

Last March, it was announced that Jessica Biel was set to star in and executive produce a limited series adaptation of Karin Slaughter’s New York Times best-selling novel The Good Daughter for the Peacock streaming service. Rose Byrne (“Bridesmaids”) and Meghann Fahy (“The White Lotus”) have taken on Peacock’s limited drama series “The Good Daughter” following Jessica Biel’s exit. The two will be the lead stars, two sisters named Samantha and Charlotte Quinn.

Byrne will executive produce the series, and Fahy will step in to play Biel’s former role as Charlotte Quinn. As TheWrap previously reported, Karin Slaughter will pen all the episodes, as well as executive produce alongside Byrne and Made Up Stories’ Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Casey Haver.

Peacock has lined up the two leads for its limited series The Good Daughter.

Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy will lead the drama, which is based on a novel by Karin Slaughter (who is also writing every episode of the series). Byrne will also be an executive producer.

The Good Daughter scored a straight-to-series order at Peacock in March, with Jessica Biel attached to star. Biel departed the project in September; Fahy is taking on the role Biel had been set to play.

The series centers on two sisters, Charlotte (Byrne) and Samantha (Fahy) Quinn, who have spent the last 28 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. Based on the best-selling novel by Karin Slaughter — who also pens the Will Trent book series on which the ABC drama is based — The Good Daughter follows sisters Charlotte (played by The White Lotus’ Fahy) and Samantha Quinn (Platonic’s Byrne), who have spent the last 28 years trying to piece together the lives that were fractured by a single night of violence. (Jessica Biel was initially slated to play Charlotte, but vacated the role in September.)

The Peacock limited series The Good Daughter has cast Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy as the lead characters, sisters Samantha and Charlotte Quinn, respectively. Additionally, Byrne will executive produce.

Fahy is taking on the role Jessica Biel was originally set to play following Biel’s exit from the project as star and executive producer, which Deadline revealed exclusively in September.

Based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling novel of the same name, The Good Daughter was picked up straight-to-series by the NBCU streaming service in March, with Slaughter writing all episodes and executive producing the project from Fifth Season and Bruna Papandrea‘s Made Up Stories.

“Ahsoka” Season 2 is in development with creator Dave Filoni, Lucasfilm has confirmed.

The news came with the reveal of the new “Star Wars” film “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” directed by Jon Favreau, which was unveiled Tuesday morning.

“‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ will lead Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, including films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2, among those in the works,” the announcement said.

“Ahsoka,” which aired its Season 1 finale on Oct. 3, starred Rosario Dawson as the fan-favorite Jedi, who’s trying to save the galaxy from Grand Admiral Thrawn, a new threat after the fall of the Galactic Empire.
