Exclusive: Buyers in Cannes are getting a look at a documentary on the L.A. wildfires directed by Conscious Contact CEO David Goldblum, a resident of the Big Rock community in Malibu that was devastated by the runaway blazes.

Production just wrapped on Big Rock Burning: An Untold Story of the 2025 LA Fires, executive produced by actor Mark Hamill, Oscar-winning director Bryan Fogel (Icarus), Secret Sauce Media founder Julie Parker Benello, Trevor Burgess, and Marilou Hamill.

“The film captures the raw aftermath of a harrowing night when residents were left to fend for themselves after officials deemed the area too dangerous to enter,” notes a release. “With no help coming, neighbors turned into first responders — some fighting back flames with garden hoses, others forced to flee through walls of fire.”

Mark Hamill is one of numerous celebrities who had to flee their homes as a result of the dangerous wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles. The Star Wars and The Fall of the House of Usher actor posted an update to his Instagram account on the evening of January 7, 2025, letting fans know he was okay, but just barely.

Hamill writes that he, his wife Marilou York and their dog Trixie "evacuated Malibu so last-minute there were small fires on both sides of the road as we approached Pch (Pacific Coast Highway)." He continues, stating that by 8:15 that night, he and his family were safe at his daughter Chelsea's house in Hollywood. Hamill called these latest fires the "most horrific since '93" and advised his fans to "stay safe."

He's referring to a string of fires that hit L.A. in late October and early November 1993, considered the most destructive wildfires at the time.

“Luke Skywalker” Mark Hamill is among the people who have evacuated Malibu amid the fires raging across parts of L.A. The Star Wars actor shared on Instagram how he and his family left their home amid the spreading fire.

Starting in Pacific Palisades, the fires have overnight also hit parts of Malibu and Santa Monica.

“7pm – Evacuated Malibu so last-minute there (were) small fires on both sides of the road as we approached Pch,” Hamill posted on his Instagram account on Tuesday night. The Pch is the Pacific Coast Highway.

At 8:15 p.m., Hamilton, wife Marilou York, and their dog Trixie arrived at their daughter “Chelsea’s house in Hollywood,” he added. “Most horrific fire since ’93,” he concluded, expressing hope that other people would also “stay safe.”
