Salma Hayek in Everly (2014)
Joe Lynch talks about Fantastic Fest and his Salma Hayek film 'Everly'
Salma Hayek in Everly (2014)
Who on earth would set a high-octane, high-body count, bulletfest of an action movie in a single room? The answer is director Joe Lynch. The filmmaker’s new film, Everly, stars Salma Hayek as a prostitute who must kill a small army of assassins sent to murder her at an apartment by a yakuza crime boss. At Christmas.

The director explains that his intent with the film was to combine two cinematic flavors few people might have considered placing together: Action classic Die Hard and the work of the avant-garde Dogme 95 filmmaking collective, whose leading lights include one Lars von Trier.

Draft Day, A Country of Strangers & Rodham Top the 2012 Black List
There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces. Draft Day – about the day in the life of a fictitious Buffalo Bills Gm appears to currently be in turnaround — which only means I expect to see this greenlight perhaps a little later than sooner – worth noting: top spot almost guarantees that the film will indeed go into production (2006, 2010 and 2011 are the exceptions.) Among the more alluring logline subjects we find on the list, I’d be keen on reading the...

Adam Green arrives at the world premiere of his film FROZEN. Sundance Film Festival - Park City, UT January 2010.
FEARnet, cable television's premiere horror, thriller and suspense channel, has given a series order to Holliston, an outrageous and offbeat multi-camera, half-hour buddy comedy series starring directors Adam Green (Hatchet, Hatchet II, Frozen) and Joe Lynch ("Knights of Badassdom," Wrong Turn 2.) Created by Green, the sitcom is scheduled to start production later this year and will be the network's first original production.

The show, set in the town of Holliston, Ma, follows the lives of Adam and Joe, two friends chasing the dream of becoming successful horror movie filmmakers while struggling to make ends meet and dealing with life and the opposite sex in their post-college jobs at a Boston cable access station where they also host a late night movie program called "The Movie Crypt."

"This show has just the right amount of wrong, and you really can't imagine it ever making it on to TV. That's where FEARnet comes in,...
