The Hunt for Raoul Moat review: A superb dramatisation of Moat’s last murderous days on earth
Image
Raoul Thomas Moat wasn’t the first and won’t be the last self-pitying, self-righteous, narcissistic example of violent toxic masculinity, but he was certainly one of the most destructive. ITV’s three-part The Hunt for Raoul Moat is a superbly directed (by Gareth Bryn) dramatisation of Moat’s last murderous days on earth in the summer of 2010, during which he managed to evade the police for a week and kill, maim and destroy the lives of those around him. He took his own life in a final pathetic act of nihilism, caught by the television cameras in grainy nighttime vision, his sawn-off shotgun pointed at his head. It was the ultimate insult heaped on his victims that he escaped justice. The manhunt around Northumbria as Moat escalated his threats to kill random members of the public gripped the nation. The drama is a tense and faithful re-enactment of what happened,...

‘The Hunt For Raoul Moat’: ITV Drama To Tell Story Of Britain’s Biggest Manhunt; ‘Line of Duty’ Producer World Attached
Image
Camera are rolling on an ITV drama that tells the true story of Britain’s biggest ever police manhunt.

The Hunt For Raoul Moat will explore the major 2010 police operation to apprehend fugitive Raoul Moat, who went on the run in Northumbria after killing one person and wounding two others.

The drama focuses on the innocent victims of Moat’s crimes – Christopher Brown, Samantha Stobbart and PC David Rathband; the police officers who put themselves in the firing line to apprehend Moat; and a local journalist who sought to tell Moat’s real story in a landscape of sensationalist reporting and social media provocation.

It will begin with Moat ex-partner Stobbart piecing her life back together following Moat’s imprisonment for assault. After he is released, he attempts to rekindle their relationship but when Moat realises that won’t happen, arms himself with a shotgun and confronts her and new partner Brown.

‘Van Der Valk’: ‘Midsomer Murders’ Writer Chris Murray Taking Pro-European Approach To Police Procedural – Mipcom
Annette Badland, Neil Dudgeon, and Nick Hendrix in Midsomer Murders (1997)
Midsomer Murders writer Chris Murray is taking a pro-European approach to his latest drama – taking one of Britain’s best loved actors and turning him into a Dutch detective.

Murray is remaking Dutch procedural Van Der Valk for a slew of European broadcasters including ITV in the UK, Germany’s Ard, France Télévisions and Npo Netherlands with Safe and Mad Dogs actor Marc Warren in the lead role.

All3Media International, which co-commissioned the series from its own Company Pictures is now taking the three-part drama to Cannes in the hope of closing more deals.

Murray told Deadline, “I’ve done quite a few detective shows over the years and I always remembered the setting of the original and liked the idea that in these times [of Brexit], being relatively pro-European, of doing a detective series that reflected contemporary Europe.”

The show follows a street smart and unapologetic Dutch detective, played by Warren,...

The three-part series will air on ITV in the UK, on Germany’s Ard, which co-commissioned the series with All3Media International, France Télévisions and Npo Netherlands.

Company and All3Media International are adapting the series that first aired in 1972 and ran for five seasons. Midsomer Murders writer Chris Murray is writing a three-part series of feature length episodes.

Rishi has landed the role of Jas Kheller, who secures a job at The Mill following a successful interview in an upcoming episode. With Howard and Heston quizzing candidates, they are disappointed when the answers they receive are identically bland - which makes it difficult to differentiate between the applicants. However, when Jas turns up, her honest replies are refreshing and she immediately becomes Howard's top choice. As Heston concurs, Jas is overjoyed with her success.
