Filmmaker Juan Pablo Di Pace discussed the meaning behind his new semi-autobiographical film Duino in his new uInterview.
Duino, which premiered at the LGBTQ Newfest film festival in New York City, follows an Argentinian filmmaker as he struggles to complete a film about his unrequited first love with a schoolmate. When he unexpectedly is offered the opportunity to reconstruct his memories, he revisits the past in the hope of finding a new ending to his story.
Di Pace, known for his roles in Fuller House and Momma Mia, gave some insight into his decision to step behind the camera for this movie to fulfill his childhood dream of directing:
window._taboola = window._taboola || []; _taboola.push({ mode: 'thumbnails-mid', container: 'taboola-mid-article-thumbnails', placement: 'Mid Article Thumbnails', target_type: 'mix' });
“I’ve been in the kind of actor-performer seat for 23 years now, I think, but since childhood, I really wanted to direct,” di Pace told uInterview founder Erik Meers.

The world is full of love stories, but when you’re straight, there are lots of different narratives to choose from. For people whose first love is someone of the same sex, especially if they came of age in the 20th Century, it’s a little different. Such a high proportion of those stories are anchored in tragedy of one sort or another that it’s easy to start shaping one’s own story to fit. Unrequited love is a bigger risk for gay and bisexual people, and speaking up also entails a different kind of risk – or certainly did - but how many of us end up using that as an excuse? There’s a temptation to romanticise situations by writing them off as hopeless – and in the process, perhaps, to miss out on something special.

Chicago – Happy Pride Month 2024! One of the most beautiful and spirited LGBTQ+ films on the festival circuit last year was “The Mattachine Family,” written by Danny Vallentine and directed by his husband Andy Vallentine. Andy Vallentine talked to HollywoodChicago.com about his film that was partially autobiographical. “The Mattachine Family is now available to rent on all major streaming platforms.
“The Mattachine Family” features the very-much-in-love married couple Thomas (Nico Tortorella) and Oscar (Juan Pablo Di Pace) in a story about family, both made and found. When their foster child reunites with his birth mother, Thomas and Oscar deal with the loss in very different ways, and realize they have differing ideas on what makes a family. Loosely based on director/writer Andy Vallentine and writer Danny Vallentine’s own lived experiences as husbands and potential fathers, the film is a journey on the universality of love, family, and community.

Could Lori Loughlin be following in Olivia Jade‘s footsteps? The influencer is currently competing on “Dancing with the Stars” with Val Chmerkovskiy and does not entirely rule out her mother one day doing the show herself.
“Val has been trying to recruit her,” Jade told Page Six.
“I don’t know how many more seasons I’ve got in me, but I’ll stick around,” Chmerkovskiy said.
“But if Lori comes on, then maybe,” Jade quipped before getting serious. “I don’t know. I haven’t really asked her, like, ‘Would you come on and do the show?’ But I think she’s just proud of me.”
Jade and Loughlin have been reentering public life since their family’s involvement in the college admissions scandal in 2019. Loughlin and her husband and Jade’s father, Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded guilty last year for bribing the University of Southern California to accept Jade and her sister,...

Gold Derby contributors Jeffrey Kare, Cordell Martin and I were somewhat surprised that Nelly was safe at the end of “Icons Night” on “Dancing with the Stars,” which led to the surprising elimination of Aj McLean. But what really got us anxious were the dances announced for next Monday’s penultimate episode of the season, where the six remaining celebs will perform but only four will advance to the finale the following week. Watch our discussion of “Icons Night” and the “Semi-Finals” above.
With the competition coming down to the wire and the contestants so evenly matched this season, every dance counts. So it’s especially significant that three of them will be performing the dance that almost always gets the celebs a big bump in their scores: contemporary. Kaitlyn Bristowe, Justina Machado and Nev Schulman all lucked out with that style. “I’m a little disappointed,” says Martin. “Contemporary...

Make your vote count this election — and on “Dancing with the Stars.” The show will have a double elimination on Monday, Nov. 2, aka Election Day eve.
ABC is dubbing the episode “Double Elimination Night — Use Your Vote!”, encouraging fans to vote for their faves to avoid the feared double axing and, oh yeah, for the the future of our country. After next week’s episode, there will be nine couples left, so we’ll get down to seven couples by the end of the Nov. 2 episode.
See Here are ‘Dancing with the Stars” theme nights for October
The episode will presumably be theme-less — unless you count double elimination as a theme — as executive producer and showrunner Andrew Llinares has previously said that “Dancing” will do theme nights every other week. The Oct. 26 episode is Villains Night, which would make Nov. 9 the next theme night. Tyra Banks mentioned Villains Night on Monday’s episode,...

Three wins is a very tough barrier for “Dancing with the Stars” pros to cross — well, unless you’re name is Derek Hough. The new judge is the only pro to have crossed that threshold, having nabbed a record six victories. Six other pros have triumphed twice, three of whom — Cheryl Burke, Val Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd — have yet another chance to add a third this season. Who would you like to see lift their third Mirrorball trophy?
Now in her 23rd season, Burke came in to “Dancing” hot: She joined in Season 2 and won that with Drew Lachey and then backed it up with a second straight victory in the third season with Emmitt Smith. She’s since notched two second-place finishes and three third-place finishes.
Since Osbourne, the closest she’s come to Mirrorball glory again was in the 27th season with Juan Pablo Di Pace, who was...

In a sign of what may be seen as an emerging, successful alternative to expensive red carpet charity events, Saturday night’s two-hour Lead With Love: Project Angel Food Emergency Telethon, which aired live on Ktla 5, smashed its fundraising goal. The virtual event exceeded its $500,000 goal by nearly $200,000, totaling more than $700,000 during the all-star event, at very little cost to the Hollywood-based nonprofit Project Angel Food.
A-list names, including Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Jamie Lee Curtis, Matt Bomer and Sharon Stone, contributed brief segments celebrating Project Angel Food’s contributions to Hollywood’s underserved community. Furnish and Curtis both mentioned bringing their families with them to volunteer at the facility, which prepares and delivers tens of thousands of meals each week to people in need.
The list of musical names was fierce, with taped performances from Kelly Clarkson (U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking...

Fuller House is officially over.
The hit Netflix comedy wrapped up with its fifth season last week.
However, it has now been revealed that there were plans for a sixth season, and Candace Cameron Bure has expressed her "disappointment" over it not being produced.
Netflix announced last year that the reboot of the hit ABC comedy would be wrapping up after its fifth season, despite rumors stating it was being canceled after Season 4.
Cameron Bure is opening up about certain storylines that did not get the time they deserved following the decision wrap up the series.
"The fact that we didn't highlight Dani, Stephanie's baby, very much in season five, to me that was a bit disappointing," she revealed to Insider.
"We understand why they didn't [show Stephanie parenting], but that was something that I would have wanted to see in season six, her truly raising a baby."

It's almost time to say goodbye to Fuller House.
To reiterate that to fans, Netflix has dropped a brand new trailer for its farewell run, which is set to launch June 2.
As expected, the trailer for the sitcom’s final nine episodes zeroes in on D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Kimmy (Andrea Barber) as they attempt to plan a triple wedding.
Danny (Bob Saget), Jesse (John Stamos), and Joey (Dave Coulier) are all spotted in the footage, but fans should not hold their breath for the return of Lori Loughlin as Aunt Becky.
There could be some details revealed by some of the other characters about the character, but time will tell.

“Fuller House” is getting ready to end its fifth and final season, which means it’s finally time to say goodbye to the Tanner family. And the cast is paying homage to their “Full House” roots in a nostalgia-heavy trailer.
On Tuesday, Netflix released the trailer for the final episodes that will hit the platform on June 2. It’s a walk down memory lane, and viewers can revisit the time when they first met Danny, DJ, Stephanie, Michelle, Uncle Jessy, Joey and Kimmy Gibbler way back in 1987.
The only one missing from the throwback is Lori Loughlin, who played Aunt Becky in the original series and in the first four seasons of the reboot. The actress left the show after she was indicted and pleaded not guilty in the college admissions bribery case.
