Dil Dhadakne Do is a film about trying to follow the unpredictable rhythms of the song of life. It’s a very elitist film. Oh, yes! The problems faced by the rich going on a trip to bankruptcy, Mehra family are peculiar to the privileged classes. In fact, in one of the film’s funniest scenes- and there are countless of those, let me assure you- Priyanka’s hypochondriac mother-in-law (Zarina Wahab) asks the younger woman what the problem is after her Bahu says she wants to leave her husband because she is not happy in the marriage.

“Problem kya hai?!” the bewildered mother-in-law asks. And she may well have a point.

Richard Gadd's Half Man has started filming, hot off the heels of Baby Reindeer's breakout success. The project poses "a new challenge" for Gadd, who's serving as writer, creator, and lead actor in the series.

Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd updated fans on his new series Half Man via Instagram. The photo confirmed filming started on Feb. 3 with director Alexandra Brodski and Dp Carlos Catalan at the helm. Half Man was first announced in February 2024 under the working title Lions, a six-part drama about two brothers' rocky relationship; the show's narrative includes flashbacks spanning four decades. Gadd serves as executive producer along with Gavin Smith and Gaynor Holmes (BBC), as well as Tally Garner and Morven Reid (Mam Tor Productions).

Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd recruits a Fantastic Four reboot actor to star alongside him in a new TV series.

Exclusive: Julianne Nicholson (Mare of Easttown) and Eliza Scanlen (Sharp Objects) have landed the lead roles in the BBC’s upcoming crime drama series Dope Girls, we can reveal.

Umi Myers, Eilidh Fisher and Geraldine James have also landed major parts in the series, which we first told you about back in March. At the time, our sources said the BBC sees Dope Girls as a spiritual successor to Peaky Blinders, which ended last year.

Filming on the show, which is set in London’s Soho in the early 20th century, when female gangs ran the clubs, drugs and moonshine, is now underway. It will launch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, and comes from Polly Stenham and Alex Warren (Eleanor).

Heartstopper cinematographer Diana Olifirova is one of five nominees for the National Film and Television School’s 2022 Sue Gibson Bsc Cinematography Award.

Two of this year’s selection are on their second nomination – Ula Pontikos, for season two of Russian Doll; and Edu Grau, for Rebecca Hall’s Bafta-nominated Passing.

The other nominees are Nick Cooke for Ben Sharrock’s Limbo; and Paul Kadir Ozgur for Pascual Sisto’s John And The Hole.

The American Society of Cinematographers is announcing its winners today for the 35th Annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards this afternoon in the feature film, documentary and television cinematography categories.

They represent the organization’s picks for the most compelling visual filmmaking over the past 14 months.

The Society is bestowing the ASC Board of Governors Award to filmmaker Sophia Coppola for her contributions to cinema through her body of work. It is the only ASC Award not given to a cinematographer and is reserved for industry stalwarts who have been champions for directors of photography and the visual art form.

The Michael Chapman & Allen Daviau Student Heritage Award is being awarded to Ai Chung for A Young Tough in the Michael Chapman Graduate Category and Elias Ginsberg for Milk Teeth in the Allen Daviau Undergraduate Category.

The virtual ceremony is being streamed live via American Cinematographer’s Facebook page from the historic ASC Clubhouse in Hollywood.

The American Society of Cinematographers on Wednesday set its nominees for the 35th Asc Outstanding Achievement Awards, recognizing the best in feature film, documentary and television cinematography over the past 14 months. Winners will be revealed April 18 in a virtual ceremony from the Asc Clubhouse in Hollywood.

The marquee Feature Film category this year features awards-season staples including Erik Messerschmidt for Mank and Phedon Papamichael for The Trial of the Chicago 7, both from Netflix, and Chloé Zhao’s go-to Dp Joshua James Richards for Seachlight’s Nomadland. Also in the running is Newton Thomas Sigel for A24’s Russo Brothers-directed Cherry and Dariusz Wolski for Universal’s News of the World.

Papamichael has been nominated for five Asc Awards including last year for Ford v Ferrari. He lost to Roger Deakins for 1917; Deakins went on to win the Oscar, marking the 15th time the Asc winner has gone on to scoop the Academy Award in 34 years.

“Cherry,” “Mank,” “News of the World,” “Nomadland” and “The Trial of the Chicago 7” are among the films nominated by the American Society of Cinematographers (Asc) in the feature film category.

The cinematography for “Mank,” “Nomadland,” “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “News of the World” and “Cherry” has been nominated as the best film work of 2020 by the American Society of Cinematographers, the Asc announced on Wednesday.

The first four of those films were expected to be recognized by the Asc and are thought to be strong contenders for the Oscar for Best Cinematography, but “Cherry” came as a surprise. The Russo brothers film came out in February to withering reviews and had not been considered an awards contender until the Asc included its cinematographer, Newton Thomas Sigel, in its list of nominees.

“Cherry” landed that nomination over a group of films that included “Tenet,” “Minari,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Judas and the Black Messiah” — and “Da 5 Bloods,” a more high-profile film that was also shot by Sigel.

As was widely anticipated, Alfonso Cuaron’s triple Oscar-winning “Roma” dominated the 6th Premios Platino nominations, unveiled Thursday at Hollywood’s legendary Roosevelt Hotel, the site of the very first Oscars. It snagged a total of nine nominations, including best film, director, art direction, cinematography, and acting for its two Oscar-nominated actresses, Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira.

“Roma,” which won Mexico’s first best foreign-language film Oscar, is up against pics that were also submitted for their respective countries in the Academy Awards’ foreign-language category: Colombia’s “Pajaros de Verano,” Uruguay’s “La Noche de 12 Años,” and Spain’s “Campeones.” The first two titles nabbed six Premios Platino noms each while “Campeones” took five. The failure of 3D TVs to make any significant inroads into the nation's front rooms ensures that even the most high-profile stereoscopic cinema outings wind up being watched in good old flatscreen at home. This doesn't much matter for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011, Disney, 12), in which the much-vaunted "real 3D" was utterly forgettable – much like the feature itself. It would have been hard for new franchise helmsman Rob Marshall to make a worse fist of things than previous incumbent Gore Verbinski, but what this belated fourth instalment lacks in outrageous awfulness it makes up for in terms of plodding mediocrity.
