FIFA officials said at a press conference in Doha that the semi-automatic off-side technology has been specially vetted.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino. who was present at the press conference, threw his weight behind the match officials at the World Cup. Praising their dedication, professionalism and ability to cope with pressure, he said: "These 129 match officials are doing the most difficult

job among all of us, either here in Qatar or at home. They are top professionals, they are motivated in an incredible way."

"The referees for us are not only one team, but they are Team One. They are the most important team at the World Cup because, without the referees’ team, there is no World Cup," the FIFA chief added.

Collective Media Group and Entourage Sports and Entertainment‘s soccer documentary feature “Brazil 2002: The Real Story,” recounting the story of the 2002 World Cup on its 20th anniversary, has sold a raft of territories worldwide. The film uses six hours of unseen archive material shot by Brazilian soccer player Juliano Belletti during the tournament, and also features interviews with Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Cafu and Gilberto Silva from the World Cup winning Brazil team; and, from the opposing teams across the tournament, David Beckham, Michael Owen, Oliver Kahn, Hasan Şaş and Marc Wilmots as well as referee Pierluigi Collina.

FIFA has taken the film for its own streamer FIFA+, for territories including Asia (excluding Japan), Turkey and New Zealand. Var technology to make debut in FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup, match officials announced

New Delhi, Aug 30 (Ians) The upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022, scheduled to be held in India, will see the Video Assistant Referee (Var) technology making its debut in the age-group event, the world football governing body announced on Tuesday.

The prestigious tournament will take place in Bhubaneswar, Goa and Navi Mumbai from October 11-30.

“The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will give us important and significant insights into the qualities of the match officials who have been appointed. We are very happy that also for the first time, Var technology will be used at a FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup,” said FIFA’s Head of Women Refereeing Kari Seitz, in a statement.

“This event will be another great opportunity to showcase the skills of the appointed VARs and continue the development of our female VARs as part of the Road to Australia/New Zealand 2023 project,” she added.
