First Trailer Debuts For Marvel's Cloak & Dagger Series and It Looks Great!
Marvel and Freeform has released the first trailer for their new teen drama series Cloak & Dagger and I really like what I'm seeing. I don't really watch any shows on Freeform so I wasn't really sure what to expect when the series when it was first announced, but this trailer sold me on it! It looks like the kind of show that I'd enjoy watching.

The series is a coming-of-age drama that focuses on the characters Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), "the eponymous Cloak and Dagger, as they learn to use their newly-acquired superpowers while also falling in love with each other. Cloak is capable of teleportation through the “dimension of darkness” but can also leave foes stranded in the other world as well. Dagger has the ability to create light daggers with her mind, which she can control as well. Her daggers are capable of...

‘Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger’ and The Lonely Island’s ‘Alone Together’ Land First Trailers from Freeform — Watch
At today’s Freeform Upfront presentation, the network’s upcoming slate of new TV was given a sneak peek. With its young adult viewers ever present, Freeform has fully committed to utilizing digital platforms, much as it did with the success of “Beyond” being made available on demand to binge immediately on its premiere.

Freeform President Tom Ascheim promised the continued availability of streaming and on-demand services to be used in conjunction with traditional broadcasting for the shows to come. Here are the first looks at what Freeform has in store.

“Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger”

Perhaps the most hotly anticipated of Freeform’s upcoming slate, “Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger” follows two teenagers from completely different backgrounds, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), finding themselves inextricably linked through their burgeoning powers. Inevitably, they team up to become the superhero duo, Cloak & Dagger. The surprisingly gritty trailer brings this...

Marvel’s First ‘Cloak And Dagger’ Trailer Promises Superpowered Teenage Angst
These days, it’s pretty typical for a superhero to have a sidekick, but it’s considerably less common for any character to have a codependent ally. That’s the case for Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen, two superheroes who met as teenage runaways and learned that they depend on each other to survive. Literally. Johnson, who goes by the name of Cloak, has the ability to move between this world and a dark dimension but relies on human energy to survive.

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger Series Unveils Pulsing First Trailer
Olivia Holt (Tandy Bowen) and Aubrey Joseph (Tyrone Johnson) become Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger in today’s pulsing first trailer for the coming-of-age superhero story.

Bursting with young romance and teenage angst, the live-action Cloak and Dagger comes from the mind of showrunner Joe Pokaski (Underground, Heroes), who will tell the tale of Tandy (Dagger) and Johnson (Cloak) as they each struggle to wrangle their superhuman abilities under control. As the teaser alludes to, the titular characters have something of a history together, having come into contact with one another as kids. Exactly how that chance (?) meeting filters into the story, though, is still up for question.

They are, in essence, the polar opposites of each other; Holt’s Tandy Bowen can emit blinding light daggers on a whim, while Tyrone “Ty” Johnson harbors an ability that allows him to engulf others in darkness. Together, they form an alliance (and romance?...

Cloak And Dagger Character Descriptions Revealed
We’ve been hearing quite a bit about Marvel and Freeform’s small screen adaptation of Cloak and Dagger recently, though hardly any of it has actually been officially confirmed just yet. Still, solid sources report that Beyond the Lights director Gina Prince-Bythewood is set to helm the pilot episode, and just last night we heard on good authority that the lead roles of Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen had been cast. Now, we can add some more unconfirmed, but most likely accurate details.

Over the past couple of weeks, That Hashtag Show has debuted character breakdowns for the likes of The Inhumans and New Mutants, and now they reckon they’ve uncovered the descriptions for the two young heroes of Cloak and Dagger:

Tara – Female, 18 to play 17, Caucasian. Tara was a plucky southern girl who grew up with everything. She was always full of light. Then an accident took away everything.

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger TV Series May Have Cast Its Leads
Last night we reported that Marvel’s upcoming Cloak and Dagger TV show, which will air on Freeform, had found a director for its pilot episode in the form of Gina Prince-Bythewood (Love and Basketball, Beyond the Lights). Now, a new rumor suggests that the two leads have also been cast. According to the McU Exchange, Noah Gray-Cabey will play Tyrone Johnson (Cloak), while Debby Ryan has signed on to bring Tandy Bowen (Dagger) to life on the small screen.

While neither of these actors are what you’d call household names, they’ve both starred in some fairly popular TV shows in the past. Gray-Cabey is probably best know for playing Micah in the original Heroes when he was a kid (he also reprised the role for Heroes Reborn), but he’s since appeared in the likes of CSI and Code Black. Ryan, meanwhile, played Aubrey on Girl Meets World,...

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger Finds A Director
It’s been a bit hit and miss for Marvel when it comes to the small screen. For every knockout like Daredevil, there’s also a letdown like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Not that it’s necessarily a horrible television show, but it certainly hasn’t lived up to its potential and the ratings are proof of that. However, the studio keeps trucking on and in the near future, they’ll be bringing us two new series. One is The Runaways, which is set to debut on Hulu, while the other is Cloak And Dagger, which is coming to Freeform and heads into production next month.

It’s the latter which we have an update for today, as a director for the pilot has been found in the form of Gina Prince-Bythewood. Though we don’t know if she’ll remain on board after the first episode, she will helm the...

"Marvel's Cloak and Dagger" TV Series
Accoding to new reports Marvel TV and Freeform (formerly ABC Family) will start production on the TV series "Cloak and Dagger" (aka "Shadows") in New Orleans February 2017, adapting the Marvel Comics series, aimed at teenagers and young adults

"It’s a love story that happens to have characters that have always traditionally been in that age group," said Marvel TV.

"Cloak and Dagger", based on Marvel Comics 1982 series created by writer Bill Mantlo and illustrator Edward Hannigan, follows teenagers 'Tandy Bowen' and 'Tyrone Johnson', who grapple with newly acquired superpowers, as they fall in love.

"...'Ty Johnson' (aka 'Cloak') and 'Tandy Bowen' (aka 'Dagger') met in New York City as runaways. Tyrone was a 17-year-old boy from Boston, Massachusetts with a debilitating stutter and ran away to New York City when his speech impediment prevented him from stopping his friend from stepping in front of a moving vehicle.

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger Has Been Pushed Back To Winter 2018
Marvel has found great success on Netflix, but their fortunes have been a little mixed on ABC. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s ratings have plummeted since the series premiere, Agent Carter was cancelled after just two seasons, and the network pulled the plug on Mockingbird spinoff Marvel’s Most Wanted before the pilot even made it to air.

It makes sense then that they’re taking their time with Freeform’s (the rebranded ABC Family) Cloak and Dagger. According to a new report, the show has been pushed back to winter 2018. On the plus side, it does have a showrunner in the form of Joe Pokaski, though he’s writing the pilot’s script from scratch so it obviously needs a bit of work.

Possible Premiere Date For Marvel's Cloak And Dagger TV Series Revealed
According to The Hollywood Reporter, we can expect to see Cloak and Dagger reach the small screen by winter 2018. That's the premiere date the series is currently targeting anyway, and while many of us expected it to potentially debut this time next year, Marvel and ABC are clearly taking their time. In fact, the script for the pilot is currently undergoing a complete rewrite by showrunner Joe Pokaski.  The "superhero love story" was ordered to series back in April, but after the high profile failure of Marvel's Most Wanted (a Mockingbird led Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff), it's easy to understand why ABC is being cautious here. Cloak and Dagger is set to premiere on their Freeform network - formerly ABC Family - and so looks set to become a staple of the rebranded channel when it finally airs.    Produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios, Cloak and Dagger focuses...

Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger Is Set To Bring Super Romance To Freeform
Freeform – Disney’s television network, previously known as ABC Family – has given the greenlight to Cloak And Dagger, and it’s big news for the ABC offshoot. While the main network boasts Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter on its roster, and Marvel’s Most Wanted and John Ridley’s Marvel project on its development slate, Freeform has been slower to jump into the superhero pool. Cloak And Dagger will change that, though, bringing a teen romance of super proportions to its younger audience.

Cloak and Dagger are actually two teenage runaways named Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson. Tandy is a 16-year-old girl who runs away from her millionaire mother in Ohio, due to emotional neglect. Tyrone is a 17-year-old boy with a speech impediment, who runs away from his Boston home after failing to prevent his friend being shot by the police. Both Tandy and Tyrone arrive in New...

Marvel's 'Cloak and Dagger' TV Show Is Happening on Freeform
Gary Cooper and Lilli Palmer in Cloak and Dagger (1946)
Marvel already has a large presence on the small screen, with ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, along with four Netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, the upcoming Luke Cage and Iron Fist). Variety reports that another one of the studio's comic book properties, Cloak and Dagger, has been given a straight-to-series order on Freeform, the cable network formerly known as ABC Family. The show will bypass the traditional pilot phase with this series order, but it isn't known how many episodes we're getting in this first season.

Cloak and Dagger will be based on the romantic comic book series of the same name, which follows the title characters, also known as Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson. The story tracks these teenage characters from much different backgrounds who become connected when they gain mysterious new super powers, while they start to fall for each other. Tandy has the ability to shoot "light daggers,...

The Battle For Quicksilver: 7 More Heroes With Complicated Film Rights
by Brett White

Fans have been waiting for something like the Battle for Quicksilver to happen, ever since it was made clear that the film rights for the X-Men, Fantastic Four and Spider-Man would not be returning to Marvel Studios anytime soon. Now it seems likely that two versions of the same superhero will be appearing in different franchises, with one or both films not able to fully depict the character as he is in the comics.

At this point it'd help to have a checklist of exactly which studios own what characters, because it's pretty confusing the way it stands right now. Fox owns the X-Men and Fantastic Four, but mutants can apparently appear in Marvel Studios films as long as they're not called mutants (and possibly not called by their code names). Sony owns Spider-Man, and he's not moving studios, not ever. That means we'll never see Norman...
