Olivia Munn Claims a ‘Newsroom’ Director Tried to “Ruin” Her “Chances of Getting” More Roles
Image
Olivia Munn is opening up about what she endured by a director on the series The Newsroom.

Munn recently shared on the Armchair Expert podcast that while working on the former HBO show, created by Aaron Sorkin, one of the directors tried to “ruin” her career by telling others in the industry she was hard to work with after they disagreed on her character, Sloan Sabbith.

“There was a storyline where my character and Tom Sadoski’s character are dating and falling in love,” the Your Friends & Neighbors actress said. “[The director] kept trying to force me to carry that storyline only on my side. He’s like, ‘Can you look out at him and smile?’ And I’m like, ‘Why, she’s busy doing this?’ Or, ‘Can you stop and snuggle up to him or flirt with him?’ Or, ‘Can you give him a kiss?’ And I’m like, ‘This...

Munn did not name the director when she spoke to Dax Shepard on the Armchair Expert podcast, but she didn't mince words about how bad the experience was. He kept trying to force me to carry that storyline only on my side."

Movie Star, 44, Says A Powerful Director Almost Ended Her Hollywood Future
Image
Actor Olivia Munn has revealed that a TV director on her breakout show The Newsroom allegedly tried to ruin her movie career. Munn played financial correspondent Sloan Sabbith throughout the HBO political drama’s three seasons, during which her character developed a romantic relationship with Don Keefer, an executive producer of its fictional news program.

The Newsroom remains Munn’s best TV show, but her experience making the series wasn’t all smooth sailing. Speaking to fellow actor Dax Shepard on his podcast Armchair Expert, she explained that one of the TV show’s directors tried to prevent her being cast in a movie following a professional disagreement over her Newsroom character. Munn recounted what happened as follows:

"I was on the one-yard line for the movie, and my manager calls me and says, 'Hey, you're gonna get the role, but first, I guess there's another director who they know,...

Olivia Munn Alleges Newsroom Director Tried to Tank Her Career
Olivia Munn
Olivia Munn says a director who helmed multiple episodes of HBO’s The Newsroom tried to derail her career after a dispute over how her character should behave, telling Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that the filmmaker later spread claims she was “late all the time and really combative” when she pursued a film role.

The conflict, Munn explained, arose when the director pushed for on-set displays of affection between economist Sloan Sabbith and Tom Sadoski’s Don Keefer—requests she felt undercut the character’s professionalism. “He kept trying to force me to carry the love story only on my side,” she recalled, adding that she resisted instructions to pause work to smile, cuddle or kiss mid-scene.

Months later, with a new movie “on the one-yard-line,” Munn’s manager warned that another director had branded her difficult; she identified the source as the same Newsroom hire and ultimately...

5 Mediocre HBO Shows That Should Have Been Canceled Sooner
Image
Let's be honest: not every single HBO show is an outright winner. The premium network may "not be TV," according to its original tagline, but it's also not entirely perfect. For every excellent show like "The Sopranos," "The Wire," "Succession," or "Game of Thrones," there's at least one dud kicking around on HBO Max that probably didn't deserve much more than a single season.

HBO has won well over 100 Emmys throughout its run thanks to its slate of (mostly) genuinely great television, and again, I need to be clear: a lot of HBO shows are genuinely incredible. Across a vast number of shows and different genres, from comedies to dramas to shows that fall into the liminal place between those two, there are a handful that just aren't really worth your time. Still, these shows might not be the best that HBO has to offer, but it also doesn't mean that they're "bad,...

Why Do Fans Hate Katy Perry Now?
Image
Well, that escalated to the stratosphere, literally. Katy Perry’s 11-minute trip to space with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin has landed her in hotter water than a microwaved burrito. What was pitched as a feminist leap for womankind is now being roasted as a rich-person carnival ride that insulted more than it inspired.

Though she floated beside Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez, it’s Perry who’s become the internet’s punching bag: mocked by TikTok, slammed by critics, and even shaded by Wendy’s. Meanwhile, her Lifetimes Tour is stumbling with mixed reviews, viral awkward moments, and lackluster ticket sales. So why is everyone suddenly lining up to take a swing at Perry? And is this backlash overdue… or overblown?

Aaron Rodgers Didn’t Invite Estranged Brother, Jordan, To His Wedding, As Family Drama Escalates
Image
Many of Aaron Rodgers’ family members “knew nothing” about his recent wedding to his girlfriend, Brittani, suggesting more family drama.

Rodgers, 41, has been frequently pictured wearing a black wedding band on his left ring finger, leading fans to assume that the couple has privately gotten married. The Steelers quarterback said in an interview on Tuesday that the couple had been married “a couple of months.”

Many family members didn’t attend the wedding, including his brother, Jordan Rodgers, and his wife, JoJo Fletcher, who met on season 12 of The Bachelorette.

Jordan and JoJo are reportedly angry that Aaron didn’t attend their wedding in April 2022.

Aaron has been estranged from his brother and other family members since his relationship with actress Olivia Munn. In 2017, Aaron’s father, Ed Rodgers, told interviewers that “fame can change things,” suggesting that Aaron’s new spotlight relationship wasn’t very beneficial to him.

Jon Hamm's New 80% Rotten Tomatoes Drama Made Its 'Jeopardy!' Debut This Week

This week, Apple's acclaimed new series, Your Friends and Neighbors, crossed over with one of the most popular shows on TV. It wasn't one of its streaming compatriots, like Severance or Ted Lasso, however; it was syndicated game-show juggernaut Jeopardy!, which featured a special Your Friends and Neighbors-themed category presented by the cast of the show. In Thursday's episode, which pitted returning two-day champion Matt Massie against challengers Josh Prohofsky and Sean Addie, star Jon Hamm introduced the Your Friends and Neighbors category, promising that "just like in our show, we'll have clues about friends and neighbors people didn't know as well as they thought."

Hamm presented one of the clues, as well, while castmates Olivia Munn and Amanda Peet presented two each. The category was a wide-ranging one. Some of the clues touched on pop culture, including the secretly treacherous Peter Pettigrew from the Harry Potter franchise,...

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Earlier this week, Olivia Munn made an innocuous, offhand remark about what sort of television her children watch at home.

In remarks that were surely relatable to millions of parents, Munn joked that she finds certain characters, such as Bluey and Ms. Rachel, a tad irritating.

But because this is 2025, a time when the most casual utterance can lead to absurd backlash, the actress and mother of two now finds herself on the receiving end of “violent threats.”

Who Is Aaron Rodgers’ Mystery Wife Brittani, His Romantic Comments on Her Before Secret Wedding
Image
“Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies,” Aristotle once wrote, and we’d argue Aaron Rodgers just confirmed that old truth, quietly and without the fanfare we usually expect from the famous. At 41, the NFL legend has tossed the biggest pass of his life, and no, we’re not talking about his new contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. During a press conference on June 10, Rodgers calmly revealed he’s married.

Yes, married. To Brittani. Don’t get confused with Britney Spears. From sporting a mysterious ring at the Barnstable Brown Gala in May to letting a package delay spark the first public mention of Brittani back in 2024 on The Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers has carefully curated this new chapter.

The Hit Apple TV+ Series That Stephen King Called 'Deliriously Nasty'
Image
This article contains a discussion of suicide.

Put that Rolex back where it came from. Spoilers for season 1 of "Friends and Neighbors" lie ahead!

Legendary horror writer Stephen King has many delightful qualities as a public figure, but perhaps his best is that he genuinely enjoys pop culture and consumes it just like the rest of us. On the social media platform Bluesky, King weighed in on a recent Apple TV+ series with a pretty positive verdict: "Deliriously nasty. It's like a John D. MacDonald novel from 1962 with a lot more sex and no good guy. Enjoyable."

The series in question is "Your Friends and Neighbors," which premiered on the streamer in April 2025 and stars "Mad Men" veteran Jon Hamm as Andrew Cooper, a finance guy usually called "Coop" who, in the first episode, gets fired over a fling with a subordinate employee and doesn't know how to keep his expensive life afloat.

Jane Rosenthal Champions Female and Nonbinary Filmmakers When the “Very Act of Us Speaking Up Feels Risky” at Chanel Tribeca Festival Luncheon
Image
When actress Mira Sorvino thinks about what and who helped her launch her career, she credits Tribeca Festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal for giving her that break.

“Jane Rosenthal actually gave me my first job in the industry. It started off being a volunteer position — I was an intern at Tribeca Productions, reading scripts. Then it turned into a paid position as a reader after they ended up liking my coverage. I did that for two years, and during that time I actually read the script Amongst Friends that ended up being the first feature that I ever starred in. We went to Sundance and that launched my career,” the actress recalled. “Tribeca helped me start my career, and it’s always given a hand up to young artists and people who had the gumption to just go for it.”

So supporting the 10th anniversary of the Through Her Lens — a...

‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Season 2 Promises “More Hamm” in Fantastic Filming Update
Image
Your Friends & Neighbors is without a doubt everyone’s current favorite Apple TV+ dark comedy, and we just can’t wait for more Jon Hamm. The highly loved series debuted on the platform on Friday, April 11, 2025, with its first two episodes: "This Is What Happens" and "Deuce." In no time, it was renewed for a second season, but without a return date announced. Nevertheless, Apple TV+ has fantastic news as they’ve confirmed via their social media page that Season 2 of Your Friends & Neighbors is now in production, promising "more Hamm on the way."

Although the dramedy shares the same name and genre as the 1998 film of the same name, they’re in no way related. Led by Hamm, Your Friends & Neighbors follows his character Andrew “Coop” Cooper, a New York hedge fund manager, recently divorced and fired in disgrace. Because of his unemployment, he resorts to...

Jon Hamm’s ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Season 2 Won’t Follow Bryan Cranston’s Breaking Bad Arc for a Good Reason
Image
Iconic actor Jon Hamm had been trying and trying to get better roles in shows for several years, but it didn’t do him any good. That was until the actor starred in the lead role as Don Draper in the iconic show Mad Men.

With skyrocketed fame, Jon Hamm continued to get better projects until he landed in the affluent Westmont Village in the show Your Friends & Neighbors. Always playing the anti-hero, Hamm’s role in this show is a negative person as well. However, it will not follow a Breaking Bad-like arc for season 2.

Jon Hamm will not go down the Walter White road

We all know that Bryan Cranston’s Walter White was a chemistry teacher who (to cure his cancer) became a meth cook and eventually created a whole drug empire alongside Aaron Paul’s Jessse Pinkman.

“We’re Not Going Down the Walter White Road”: ‘Your Friends and Neighbors’ Season 2 Will Explore Mel’s Darker Side
Image
Your Friends and Neighbors ended its first season with a high-stakes finale episode. After a nine-episode season which detailed some difficult challenges and choices for Andrew “Coop” Cooper (Jon Hamm), the Apple TV+ series seems all set to continue down the path of complicating the lives of some of its key characters. Mel's (Amanda Peet) revelation that she’d gotten together with Coop's best friend, Nick (Mark Tallman), had sent Coop spiraling, resulting in a divorce and financial struggles for Coop, which ultimately morphed into a life of crime. Looking ahead to the new season, audiences might wonder what the future holds for a pair who still care for each other despite their troubled recent history.

Central to Mel and Coop's dynamic in recent times is his frequent booty call, Samantha Levitt (Olivia Munn). Sam's scheming, which has seen Coop being accused of her husband, Paul's death, has brought much...

Olivia Munn Loved That ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Finale Reveal: “Money Can Corrupt the Soul”
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from the season one finale of Your Friends & Neighbors.]

“You don’t deserve it,” Olivia Munn’s Sam says when confronted by Jon Hamm’s Coop in the Your Friends & Neighbors finale.

In the first episode of the Apple TV+ series, a death was revealed in the wealthy, fictional Westmont Village, leaving a mystery of who could be a murderer among these elites. Who killed Paul (Jordan Gelber)?

Sam’s husband was the victim, making Coop a prime suspect when the police later found out about Coop and Sam’s secret relationship. Coop ended up getting arrested when the murder weapon, a gun, was found in his car — a murder weapon that was planted there by Sam to frame Coop.

But in the season finale, which released Friday, viewers discovered that there was never a murder. Paul died by suicide — while on FaceTime with Sam — and she staged the scene to make it look like...

Jackie Chan Wants Rush Hour 4 To Happen, But He's Worried About One Thing
Image
Fighting can be a good thing in the right context. For example, when you really believe in something, it's imperative to make your feelings known if that will help others see where you're coming from. Life requires us to step up and advocate for ourselves when we have some skin in the game, and that can extend across all the periods of life, from young to old. Just this week, Jackie Chan decided to take matters into his own hands with "Rush Hour 4," as he feels like the opportunity to make the sequel to the fan-favorite franchise might be slipping away. He's got one big request, and the producers should probably listen to him after how "Rush Hour 3" went, because it could end up making or breaking "Rush Hour 4" for everyone involved.

Jackie Chan has been doing some limited media interviews for "Karate Kid Legends," and that...
