DC Has Changed Batman’s Logo Again Because the First 1 Million Times Weren’t Enough
Image
Batman can easily be one of the most iconic figures in the DC universe. With his dark and mysterious personality, he has one of the largest and most loyal fandoms in the superhero genre. While his popularity has remained the same, what has kept changing is his logo.

That’s right – it looks like every few months the Dark Knight gets a new makeover, and it seems DC is not stopping anytime soon. So, let’s dive into what’s new and why DC just can’t seem to settle on one version of the Caped Crusader’s logo.

Another day, another Batman logo

Batman is heading into a new era – and yes, with a brand-new logo. That’s right – his new look will make its debut in Batman #1 this September. This new design comes as part of a larger revamp led by writer Matt Fraction and artist Jorge Jimenez,...

Superman: Frank Quitely, Jim Lee, And More Reveal Their Unique Takes On David Corenswet's Man Of Steel
Image
Tomorrow is "Superman Day," but will we get a new look at James Gunn's Superman movie? While a poster or TV spot isn't outside the realm of possibility, we're not banking on a full trailer, as it wasn't that long ago DC Studios dropped a 5-minute sneak peek.

In the meantime, we have some awesome new variant covers which will be released in comic book stores between May and July. Created by artists Frank Quitely, Jim Lee, Jorge Jimenez, Dan Mora, Nicola Scott, Dan Jurgens, and Jerry Ordway, they all depict the Dcu's Man of Steel, played by David Corenswet.

With Superman taking inspiration from Grant Morrison and Quitely's All-Star Superman series, it's undeniably awesome to see his take on the latest actor to bring this hero to life on screen.

During a recent interview, Corenswet made it clear he's well aware of the pressure a role like Superman brings.

Rumor: Detailed Superman Test Screening Report Reveals Story Spoilers And Breaks Down Some Potential Issues
Image
We're hoping and expecting a new look at Superman to be released soon. CinemaCon is right around the corner, and we're overdue for an update on the movie that promises to usher in a new era of Dcu storytelling from DC Studios.

Crumbs from supposed Superman test screenings continue to find their way online; somewhat unsurprising, the movie is either being hailed as a win or yet another DC disaster, with little context or meaningful insights into what to expect.

The moderators of r/DCULeaks have shared some intel today, though, and while this information isn't verified - meaning you're best taking it with a pinch of salt - it's believable enough to be real.

Here's the full test screening report:

"The film wasn't a comedy, but did have funny moments in it."

"Characters aren't who people think they are."

"Online speculation is dead wrong."

"Most of the trailer scenes...

It's official: DC is rebooting Batman again (and he has an edgy new look)
Image
DC Comics knows where its bread is buttered. As much as we, the comic book readers, enjoy stories from many characters, a company has to stay aware of their money makers. In DC's case, it’s the World’s Greatest Detective, Batman.

Over the last decade, a lot of writers have done a fantastic job on Batman. James Tynion IV (Something is Killing the Children), Tom King (Wonder Woman), Joshua Williamson (Green Arrow), and Chip Zdarsky (Sex Criminals) have all created memorable stories starring the Dark Knight. With them have come artists like Jorge Molina (A-Force) and Mikel Janín (Detective Comics) who have helped bring the tales to life. Now, a new team steps forward to take on that challenge, as legendary writer Matt Fraction and returning Batman artist Jorge Jiménez are collaborating on Batman No. 1.

Batman Is Relaunching With a New Issue #1 – And a Totally New Costume
Image
There's a new Batman coming to Gotham City, and he's looking dope in his new costume. DC is having a big year not only for the big beginning of their new cinematic universe, but also for the medium that started it all: comics. James Gunn's Superman is gearing up for its summer release and the highly-anticipated Clayface movie written by Mike Flanagan has just secured an impressive director. While the next installment in Robert Pattison's The Batman won't be arriving for a while yet, Batman is still getting the love he deserves in a brand-new comic iteration.

The current run of Batman comics, written by popular comic author Chip Zdarsky, recently came to a close with Batman #157, but there's still more story to tell with the caped crusader. After the release of the exciting Hush 2 storyline by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee in March, DC will be relaunching...

10 Times Batman Reminded Us That Alfred Is a Genuine Badass
Image
If any character is more essential to Batman lore than The Dark Knight himself, it would have to be Alfred Pennyworth. Without Alfred in his life, Bruce Wayne would not be the Batman he is today. More than a butler, he's the heart and soul of the Bat-Family, and his footprint can be felt in generally all forms of Bat media.

Even with Alfred dead in the current DC canon, his presence can still be felt in current Batman storylines, like when Damian Wayne's Robin carried a Kendrick Lamar-esque beef against Bane for killing Alfred. With that in mind, truth be told, a lot of characters and audiences forget that Alfred can hold his own in a fight. Again, Mr. Pennyworth is more than just a butler. He is a skilled marksman with a background in military training as a former British intelligence agent. For all intents and purposes,...

Green Arrow Just Destroyed Batman with a Two-Word Nickname
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Green Arrow #17 aheadGreen Arrow's role in DC's Absolute Power crossover was controversial yet critical, with lasting repercussions on his relationships with the Justice League. But Green Arrow isn't the only hero to make such gambits, and when Batman tries to call him out on his behavior, Green Arrow throws Batman's own actions back in his face with an absolutely brutal roast of a nickname that emphasizes just how much further Green Arrow would have to go to stoop to Batman's level.

Green Arrow #17, by Chris Condon, Joshua Williamson, Montos, Amancay Nahuelpan, Adriano Lucas, and Romulo Fajardo Jr., deals with the fallout of Absolute Power, and Green Arrow's role as a sleeper double agent against Amanda Waller. Riddler's New Upgrade Makes Him a Joker-Level Threat (By Flipping Paul Dano's Portrayal)
Image
DC Comics is flipping Paul Dano's portrayal of The Riddler, giving the character a major upgrade in the DC Universe, as he now has his own company, Nygmatech, inspired by Wayne Enterprises. While it is unclear if this is truly a new era for the character, or if his redemption will be short-lived, but the introduction of the character to Gotham's business world is a fascinating turn of events.

Preview pages for Batman #153 written by Chip Zdarsky, with art by Jorge Jimenez reveal the surprising evolution of the Riddler. In this story, Riddler has seemingly gone straight, completely giving up his life of crime and instead founding his own company, Nygmatech.

This seemingly company offers the best in cybersecurity, though while Bruce Wayne ostensibly supports Riddler's reformation and newfound interest in business, Batman isn't so convinced that Riddler is able to give up his history as a supervillain.

"Accidents Happen": How Superman Really Keeps His Secret Identity Revealed in Darkly Hilarious Fanart
Image
Superman fan art by Dan Schkade hilariously reveals how Clark Kent truly keeps his identity secret with a dark twist. The art shows Clark intimidating a coworker with heat vision, subverting expectations in a funny, out-of-character representation. Despite mixed reactions, the comic strip "Accidents Happen" has gone viral, surpassing even the popular "Creepy Spider-Man" art.

Superman's ability to keep his identity a secret is often attributed to his laughably simple use of glasses and his charming, unassuming persona as a Daily Planet journalist. Batman Officially Beats His Most Powerful Villain (By Sacrificing Red Hood)

Red Hood's sacrifice in Batman #148 was crucial for defeating Zur-En-Arrh, showcasing the character's willingness to protect Gotham City, even at the ultimate cost. Batman's no-kill rule plays a significant role in the plot, with Jason's death ultimately leading to Zur's defeat by activating the Failsafe program. Thankfully for DC fans, Jason's death was once again not permanent; still, the emotional impact of his sacrifice adds depth to the story and showcases the bond between him and Batman.

The dark Zur-En-Arrh version of Batman seemingly plans to edit the personalities of Gotham's citizens on a mass scale, a plot that could solve crime in Gotham overnight, but at a significant moral cost. 10 Times Batman Broke His One Rule For Joker
Image
Batman has come close to killing or allowing the Joker to die multiple times, going against his no-kill rule. Batman has abandoned the Joker to dangerous situations, potentially leading to his death. Killing the Joker can have serious consequences, such as Batman himself becoming infected with Joker Venom.

One of the most famous parts of Batman lore is the fact he refuses to kill, a belief that extends even to the Dark Knight's worst villain, the Joker. But Batman is still just a man and, as such, he has limits. Several times, the Joker has pushed Batman past those limits, and the Caped Crusader has been tempted (or has even tried) to break his one rule for the Clown Prince of Crime.

Every member of the Bat-Family adheres to Batman's no-kill rule, and nearly every single member has come close to breaking that rule at least once. Even...

1 Batman Villain Predicts How Bruce Wayne Will Eventually End the World
Jorge Jimenez
Batman's over-reliance on technology may pose a threat to civilization, as noted by his backup personality Zur-En-Arrh. Zur-En-Arrh's creation, the android Failsafe, has become a significant threat in the DC Universe, at one point conquering Gotham City and defeating the Justice League. Batman's history with out-of-control gadgets, such as the Murder Machine and Brother Eye, suggests that his reliance on technology could potentially lead to his downfall, or even the end of the world.

Warning! Contains Spoilers For Batman #141!Batman is known for his crimefighting gadgets -- and one villain thinks the Caped Crusader's over-reliance on technology could inadvertently lead to the end of the world. The villain Failsafe, in its own right a creation of Batman's deranged back-up personality Zur-En-Arrh, could be perhaps in the best position of anyone in the DC Universe to argue that Bruce Wayne's technology poses a threat to civilization.

DC Just Changed One of Batman’s Best Stories and It Feels Wrong
Image
This Batman article contains spoilers.

Joker continuity is a bit messy by design. Ever since the Clown Prince of Crime declared that he “preferred multiple choice” in Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s seminal 1988 comic Batman: The Killing Joke, it’s been very tough to nail down just what is true and what isn’t about the villain’s origin story. Was the Joker once a failed comedian who went mad after criminals murdered his family and he fell into a vat of chemicals? Maybe. Or was he originally a crime boss known as the Red Hood? Is his real name actually Jack?

Multiple choice has mostly worked well for the Joker, who is meant to be Gotham’s embodiment of true evil. The fact that his story is indecipherable and ultimately unknowable makes him that much scarier of a threat for Batman. But things are getting a little too convoluted now.
