Eddie Murphy is defending his 2007 comedy Norbit, 18 years later.
The actor-comedian was the top contender for the best supporting actor Oscar following his 2006 performance in Dreamgirls, though it’s been long believed that he lost out on the award after Norbit released in 2007. Although it’s commonly assumed that the comedy snuffed out his Oscars campaign, Murphy doesn’t agree with that sentiment.
“I love Norbit. Norbit came out right after I got that Oscar nomination,” he told Complex. “There were articles like, ‘How can he get an Oscar, he did this?’ They’re two different movies.”
The Beverly Hills Cop lead stood ten toes down for the film, which he notably wrote alongside his brother, Charlie Murphy. He continued, “I wrote Norbit with my brother, Charlie, and we think Norbit is funny. Here’s the thing with Norbit — it came out and they gave me Razzie Awards for worst actress,...

Although Eddie Murphy worked with Beyoncé and Jennifer Hudson in the aughts, he might have been his own favorite leading lady.
The Oscar nominee recently defended his 2007 comedy Norbit as a “funny” movie, following theories that the Brian Robbins-directed movie cost him the golden statuette for Dreamgirls (2006).
“I love Norbit. Norbit came out right after I got that Oscar nomination. There were articles like, ‘How can he get an Oscar, he did this?’ They’re two different movies,” he explained to Complex.

It's not news that "Cats" is a bad movie. Directed by Tom Hooper, the movie uses Andrew Lloyd Webber's inscrutable and mostly plotless Broadway musical as its source material, and to say it's jarring, bizarre, and outright terrible is an understatement. Also, Taylor Swift is in it.
Let me backtrack for a moment and say this: The Broadway musical "Cats" is not my personal cup of tea, but I'm not here to crap all over it. It's one of the highest-grossing musicals in history, and to be absolutely fair, the fact that the stage version is plotless isn't a technically bad thing. Making it into a movie, though, was a patently terrible idea, and I say that with no due respect to Hooper ... and unfortunately for Swift and her co-stars Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen, Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson, and, uh, James Corden, it's a part of their creative histories now.

The film follows a small goat named Will. He gets a once‑in‑a‑lifetime chance to play in a high‑intensity, full‑contact sport called roarball. The challenge? Will is tiny, living in a world dominated by the fastest and fiercest animals. However, he is determined to prove that “smalls can ball.” As a result, Will sets out to challenge expectations and change the game.

The first trailer for Goat, the new animated sports comedy from Sony Pictures Animation and Columbia Pictures, is finally here, and it’s all about going big, even when you’re small.
NBA legend Stephen Curry helped launch the trailer this week, where he introduces the movie and its unlikely hero: a little goat named Will Harris. Will’s voice is played by Caleb McLaughlin from Stranger Things, and his big dream is to make it in the world of roarball — a wild, high-speed, full-contact sport played by some of the toughest animals around.
Curry doesn’t actually voice the goat though. He plays Lenny, a tall giraffe athlete. Still, he sets the tone with the film’s main message: “You’re never too small to dream big.”

Sony Pictures Animation has just released the teaser trailer for Goat, and it’s not about Stephen Curry calling himself the greatest of all time.
Instead, the NBA superstar is helping tell the story of a small goat with a big dream. And no, Curry doesn’t play the goat, he actually voices a giraffe.
Goat is an original animated movie coming from Sony Pictures Animation and Columbia Pictures, the same team behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It follows Will Harris, a young goat who wants to go pro in a wild, high-speed sport called roarball. The main character is voiced by Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin.
The movie is set in a world full of animals, and roarball is a full-contact, co-ed sport where only the toughest survive. So when Will gets his big chance to play with the pros, no one takes him seriously. He’s small, not exactly intimidating,...

The timing couldn’t be better: The Academy Museum Gala will take place October 18, with “Deliver Me from Nowhere” arriving in theaters in October 24. Springsteen will be portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, with Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffmann, and David Krumholtz also starring in the ’80s-set feature.

Eddie Murphy has made 42 feature films, not counting stand-up specials and documentary appearances. And while he's dabbled in dramas like many other comedians have, he remains best known for making people laugh. It's understandable, as he got his start on "Saturday Night Live" in 1980 before breaking out on the big screen with some of the decade's most memorable comedies. He went on to tweak his appeal and found even greater success with family comedies that still sit among his highest-grossing films (although he does regret turning down a movie in the 1980s that combined live-action with animation).
Of course, Murphy's also seen some down years as several of his movies failed to find receptive audiences or critical acclaim, resulting in some notably rough Rotten Tomatoes streaks. Films like "The Adventures of Pluto Nash," "Holy Man," and "Meet Dave" probably have their defenders, but don't go expecting to find them in the list below.

Just two songs into his Outlaw Music Festival set Wednesday night at the FirstBank Amphitheater in Franklin, Tennessee, Bob Dylan broke out his 1964 protest anthem “The Times They Are a-Changin'” for the first time since 2010. It was a slow, moving rendition where Dylan played piano and harmonica, and had minimal accompaniment by his band. His voice was remarkably clear and lucid, which has been the case all summer long.

Nathan Fillion is currently winning hearts and positive reviews with his lead role in the show, The Rookie. In addition to these names, Nathan Fillion has also made a mark for himself by starring in the Marvel movies. Interestingly so, he is the only actor in the Marvel films to have achieved a feat that not even Rdj or Chris Evans have.
Nathan Fillion appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show earlier this year in March. He celebrated his birthday (March 27) and also spoke about his journey in the TV shows and movies.

Even though the Fonz was such a skilled cyclist that he could jump his bike over 14 garbage cans, Happy Days actor Henry Winkler could barely ride. In fact, he listed “ride a motorcycle” as the most dangerous thing he’s ever had to do as an actor.
“I am so dyslexic. I couldn’t figure out what was the gas, what was the gear, what was the brake,” Winkler told People. “And I nearly killed the head of cinematography on Happy Days.”
How did he almost commit vehicular manslaughter? Winkler told Jennifer Hudson in 2023 that he only drove Fonzie’s bike once. “I rode it really for 17 seconds, in the beginning, going up the hill. That was it,” Winkler said. You can see a few seconds’ worth of Winkler’s ride in the show’s opening credits.
“And there was a moment when they had me on soundstage five at Paramount.

Alan Ritchson is one of the more exciting breakthrough actors of the 2020s. Sure, he has had a pretty steady acting career since the mid-2000s, with notable roles including Arthur Curry/Aquaman on "Smallville," which led to a failed "Aquaman" TV pilot for The WB. However, most viewers now recognize him for leading the hit Prime Video series, "Reacher," based on Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" novel series, which previously spawned two film adaptations starring Tom Cruise in the role.

Smash has become the first Broadway show to close following a 2025 Tony Award shut out. The musical will play its final performance on Sunday, June 22, after 32 previews and 84 regular performances at the Imperial Theatre.
Nominated for two Tonys – Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical (Brookes Ashmanskas) and Best Choreography (Joshua Bergasse) – the musical took home no awards. In the week leading up to the June 8 Tony ceremony, Smash filled only 66% of available seats, with a gross of $656,161.
Producers Robert Greenblatt, Neil Meron and Steven Spielberg made the closing announcement today.
The musical opened to mixed, at best, reviews, with many critics taking issue with the convoluted, only modestly funny book and lackluster score. The musical tells the story of the making of a Broadway musical about Marilyn Monroe.
Directed by five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (The Producers), Smash stars Robyn Hurder as “Ivy,” Ashmanskas as “Nigel,...
