Criminal Minds follows the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit as they work to profile serial killers and track them down. The Bau team investigates and captures some of the most dangerous criminals in each episode. As a police procedural show, Criminal Minds sees many character deaths across the original show’s 15 seasons and its spinoffs. Every example is undoubtedly saddening, since it represents another human falling victim to the Grim Reaper.
However, in Criminal Minds' narrative context, some deaths are more memorable and painful, though not necessarily more meaningful. This is often caused by the characters appearing more frequently or the circumstances of an episode hitting differently. Better writing can also influence how memorable a character's death is, even if the character appeared in a single Criminal Minds episode.

Criminal Minds is one of the most popular police procedural shows. It centers around a group of FBI profilers who must understand the minds of serial killers in order to catch them. While Criminal Minds has its fair share of horrifying and scary episodes, other episodes have touched viewers' hearts due to their sad storylines. Agents like Aaron Hotchner, Spencer Reid, and even Emily Prentiss have endured several hardships that have left viewers devastated and heartbroken.
Yet even if most of the saddest Criminal Minds episodes deal with storylines directly affecting the Bau team, sometimes, a few unsubs have also touched viewers' hearts. Whether the justification for their actions is just as sensitive as their crimes or because the unsubs aren't fully aware of what they are doing, their...

Exclusive Interview
Before Animal Kingdom, the Australian crime drama which Jacki Weaver so memorably inhabits as den mother Janine "Smurf" Cody, she was unknown to many American moviegoers including myself. The last time I see her onscreen, perusing a few key scenes from the film prior to the interview, she's training those enormous unblinking peepers on good cop Guy Pearce. They're in a sterile grocery store but the conversation is anything but; the words are loaded and coded. Her stare is equal parts dare, gloating and faux sweetness. "I hope you catch the killers," she tells him, with disingenuous grandmotherly concern, both of them fully aware of who is getting away with murder and why.
In person, what can you expect: An evil granny? A diva actress? A regular woman? When we sit at the Regency for a half hour chat over coffee, Smurf departs leaving only Jacki the "Oscar...
