Film critic and film director, Serafino Murri is also writer, TV author and musician. He's been working since first Nineties as dialogue author and translator for film dubbing into Italian for international distributions (Bim, Warner Bros, Buena Vista, 01, amongst the author he adapted Oshima, Loach, Gitai, Scorsese, Meadows, Rohmer, Chabrol, Imamura, Kiarostami, Schroeder, Stone, Tikwer, Makhmalbaf). He started his career in "Film Aesthetics" teaching at "La Sapienza" University in Rome, and that of film critic and essayist, publishing books on film directors with Il Castoro Cinema Press (Milano): "Pier Paolo Pasolini" (1° issue 1994), "Krszysztof Kieslowski" (1° issue 1996), "Martin Scorsese" (1° issue 2000). In those years he worked as essayist and editor-in-chief for some cinema magazines as "Close-Up" (1996-1999) and "Filmmaker's Magazine" (1998-2000), and collaborated with relevant Italian and international magazines as "Bianco e Nero", "MicroMega" (Italy), "Trafic" (France), "Afterall" (England). Author collective works as "Encyclopedia of cinema" (2005) and "XXI Century Lexicon" (2013) for the prestigious Istituto Enciclopedico Italiano Treccani, since 1999 he's been teaching cinema, art and communication topics ("Visual Communication", "Scriptwriting" e "Phenomenology of Contemporary Arts") at Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome, from 2005 to 2011 "Audiovisual and media translation" at IULM University of Languages and Communication in Milan, "New media and cinema" at "Cinematographic Art School Gian Maria Volonté" in Rome. His work for TV includes from 1999 to 2006 the satellite TV network "RaiSat Cinema World" as author, director and studio host for television programs, and from 2012 as author with the DTV channel RaiMovie. From May 2005, date of the first issue, to its closure (December 2013) he has been film critic for the monthly magazine "XL di Repubblica", a review dedicated to music and cinema by gruppo L'Espresso-La Repubblica. He has been in Selection Committee of major movie festivals as Mostra Internazionale di Arte Cinematografica di Venezia (Venice Film Festival, Ente Autonomo Biennale di Venezia, 2002-2003, editions 59th e 60th, director Moritz De Hadeln), and Roma Fiction Fest (manager of "Factual" section, 2008-2009, director Stefano Della Casa). He also translated into Italian film essays like Cine-journal by Serge Daney, (1999) and It's All True by Orson Welles (2005). Amongst his literary works, the poem Invisibile a me stesso (Invisible to myself, Nuovi Argomenti, NS, n.20. October-December 2002), the short story Navarro Waltz, in AA. VV., La qualità dell'aria. Storie di questo tempo (Minimum fax, 2004), the short story Attori (Actors, Nuovi Argomenti NS, n. 31, October-December 2005). In 2004 has been released in theaters his first full feature movie as film director (and also screenwriter and author of the music score): Movimenti (Movements, with F. Gifuni, R. Ravello, co-direction C. Fausti), to which followed other fictional movies (the short movie The Changing of the guard, 2005, produced and broadcast by Sky Channel, Feisbum, 2009, episodes Angelo Azzurro Reloaded with G. Colangeli and M. Medici, and The addiction), documentary movies (The Music Hall of Rome, 2007, prod. RaiCinema, Scandalo in sala (Scandal on the screen, 2014, co-direction A. Rosati, prod. Cinecittà-Luce), music videos and social adverts and commercials.
