The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation is putting the program together for its upcoming gala — the Elizabeth Taylor Night of Compassion to be held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Sept. 18 — by drafting Tina Knowles to receive a marquee honor.

The business mogul, designer, best-selling author and activist has been selected to receive the Elizabeth Taylor Commitment to End AIDS Award for her ongoing support for people living with HIV and for her allyship with the LGBTQ+ community. The gala event, fronted by standout TV host Melvin Robert (who departed his post at Extra and Good Day L.A. to replace the late Sam Rubin at Ktla as entertainment anchor), will feature Cookie Johnson as Etaf’s 2025 champion. Directed by Rick Famuyiwa, the four-part Apple TV+ docuseries explores the personal and professional life of the basketball legend, as well as his lasting cultural impact, through a series of interviews with Johnson and his family, friends and fellow athletes.

Johnson’s life and rise to basketball glory was recently depicted in the HBO drama miniseries “Winning Time,” though the NBA champion previously told Variety he was not consulted on the project and had no plans to watch the show.

Last Saturday saw The National Basketball Wives Association (Nbwa) gather at the Women’s Empowerment Summit Luncheon, alongside the other activities of the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend.

The women were each able to bring their own style and expertise to the summit, with decades of experience in the field of philanthropy between them.

Cookie Johnson has been working with her husband's Magic Johnson Foundation since it was founded in 1991. She has created fundraising jeans and T-shirts through her clothing line and has spoken at schools to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS.

Magic Johnson is more than happy to take a backseat to his son Ej when it comes to fashion!

Johnson, his wife Cookie and Ej all attended the Wearable Art Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, where the family dressed to impress. Johnson and Ej both sported head-turning Tom Ford looks, and the legendary athlete told Et that his 24-year-old son is always taking his fashion to "a whole 'nother level."

"I used to set the tone, Cookie and I, but now Ej has taken it to a whole 'nother level and we have to follow him and ask him fashion tips," Johnson told Et's Kevin Frazier. "Ej, as he always does, looks fabulous, and he takes it to another level so I just take a step back and let him do his thing."

Magic Johnson has great advice for parents of Lgbtq youth.

The legendary athlete appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Wednesday, when he discussed his son, Ej, publicly coming out. Johnson had nothing but praise for his 24-year-old son, when asked for his his advice to parents dealing with a child coming out as gay.

"I think it's all about you not trying to decide what your daughter or son should be, or what you want them to become," Johnson, 57, stressed. "It's all about loving them no matter who they are, what they decide to do. And when my son came out, I was so happy for him, and happy for us as parents -- and we love him, and Ej is amazing."

The 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards revealed this year's 156 nominees, and lots of familiar faces are being recognized.

GLAAD, the world’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (Lgbt) media advocacy organization, will be holding two award ceremonies in 2017. The first will be in Los Angeles, California, on April 1, while the second ceremony will take place in New York City on May 6.

Nominees for the 28th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced Tuesday, with superhero and sci-fi fare such as Supergirl, The Oa and Orphan Black among those snagging nods.

GLAAD, the world’s Lgbtq media advocacy organization, announced the nominees for its 28th annual GLAAD Media Awards today. Taking a strong stand for inclusivity, only two films were nominated for Outstanding Film — Wide Release, both featuring non-white gay characters: “Moonlight” and “Star Trek Beyond.”

Similarly, in the Outstanding Film — Limited Release category, three films with non-white characters were nominated: Park Chan-wook’s “The Handmaiden,” Jay Dockendorf’s “Naz & Maalik,” and Andrew Ahn’s “Spa Night” were nominated. Chris Kelly’s “Other People” and Joey Kuhn’s “Those People” round out the bunch.
