Once every year or two a movie comes along that brings fresh energy to the found-footage horror movie, a terrain that’s been mercilessly, repetitiously over-tilled since “The Blair Witch Project” broke out a quarter-century ago. Unfortunately, “In Our Blood” does not capture that prize for 2024. Though a notch above the subgenre’s norm in terms of acting and production polish, documentarian Pedro Kos’ first narrative feature — in which two filmmakers investigate mysterious disappearances around Las Cruces, New Mexico — ultimately teases expectations too long en route to an underwhelming resolution.

With overt horror elements delayed until the last 20 minutes or so, the film ends up feeling like an attenuated prologue for a series in the general conceptual (if not budgetary) wheelhouse of “Blade” or “Underworld.” But it’s anyone’s guess whether this Fantasia premiere will spark the kind of enthusiasm that merits a single follow-up, let alone several.

Zendaya is setting the record straight about that viral Law Roach clip.

In March, Zendaya’s longtime stylist Roach announced his retirement, before a video of him looking confused while searching for a seat next to the actress at Louis Vuitton’s Paris Fashion Week runway show fuelled rumours the pair had split.

Roach confirmed to Elle that his new official role is Zendaya’s creative director, with Zendaya speaking further about the incident in the magazine’s September 2023 issue.

“When it happened, I said, ‘Oh no, I hope people don’t try to create something from this,’” Zendaya recalled.

“We’re so used to sitting together that he didn’t know where to go,” she went on. “But obviously, people want to assume the worst of the situation, which is not always easy to deal with and hurtful.”

Zendaya might want to keep her relationship with Tom Holland private, but she knows she “can’t hide” it either.

The lovebirds didn’t confirm their romance until 2021, but had been romantically linked for a few years before that.

In a new interview with Elle, Zendaya shared after the reporter mentioned a photo of her and Holland on a boat ride in Venice, “Parts of my life, I accept, are going to be public.

“I can’t not be a person and live my life and love the person I love. But also, I do have control over what I choose to share. It’s about protecting the peace and letting things be your own but also not being afraid to exist. You can’t hide. That’s not fun, either. I am navigating it more than ever now.”

Often with low-budget filmmaking, the tendency is to reach for cinematography with a realistic look that’s rooted in the use of natural light sources. That description, though, has never applied to indie legend Gregg Araki and it certainly didn’t apply to his first foray into a TV, “Now Apocalypse.” It was something cinematographer Sandra Valde-Hansen discovered working with Araki on two features, “Kaboom” and “White Bird in a Blizzard.”

“I was two years out of AFI and getting the opportunity to work for Gregg opened up my visual world,” said Valde-Hansen, who appear who appeared at IndieWire’s Consider This Fyc Brunch. “He introduced me to a world where, given the limited resources, we can actually play with color and light and still come under budget and limited time frame.”

Always up for an adventure, Rihanna is featured in the new Dior campaign as the latest celebrity face for the Secret Garden series.

Shot by Steven Klein, the new spread finds the “Umbrella” singer sporting gorgeous ball gowns and expertly-fitted sportswear, all against the backdrop of the Palace of Versailles.

The previous chapter of Secret Garden scored over 9 million views on YouTube since May 2014. Dior explained, “As the eyes open upon the famed perspective of the chateau gardens and their massive geometries, as on the cusp of a dream, the Dior woman draws the spectator with her around the twists and turns of a secret and amazing Versailles.”...

The 27-year-old superstar will star in Dior's fourth installment of their "Secret Garden" campaign -- a series featuring models posing in the palace of Versailles, clad in Dior creations -- the fashion house confirmed on Friday. She will be shot by famed photographer Steven Klein, with the film and print versions of the campaign scheduled to run this spring.

But as if being an official Dior girl wasn't amazing enough, Rihanna's highly anticipated campaign also marks the first time a black woman has been chosen to front the French fashion brand. Other celeb Dior spokeswomen include A-listers Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Natalie Portman and Marion Cotillard.
